| I'm aware of Necromunda, Gorkamorka and Death Squads, but outside of the universe created by Games Workshop, what games are there that use small squad/gang engagements? | |

| Let's not forget Dark age, which carries a lot of grotesque postapocalyptic minis and has its own ruleset. | |

| The Aberrant Rezolution minis are 28mm to the eyes, which makes them roughly 32mm total height. The WarLands are I think 20mm. | |

| How small do you want your squads? 5150 from 2 Hour Wargames is based on the Chain Reaction 3.0 rules, so you can check out the basic functionality for free. Star Army is for squad combat, while New Beginnings is for a small handfull of individuals per player, if I've understood things correctly. Here's a 5150 battle report I haven't read yet. You can find more info on the 2 hour wargames Blog as well. I know even less about this, but Tomorrow's War was recently released by Osprey Publishing. You should be able to find some play examples online, since it's been in playtesting for a while. Here's a random review. | |

| I personally haven't played it yet, but I know there's Stargrunt II ( free rules!) which I think can be played at pretty small scale. There's also Unbridled Fury, currently published by Tor Gaming, which is a generic set of skirmish rules for any setting, and Flying Lead by Ganesha Games (same folks who made Song of Blades and Heroes) which is another set of skirmish rules for modern-futuristic combat (i.e. pretty much anything that involves guns). Last plug is for Songs of Our Ancestors, which is a skirmish game set in the Quar universe by Zombiesmith games. The rules are based on Flying Lead. I've been playing this last one a lot lately and having a lot of fun with it. The Quar's world is very quirky - kind of whimsical but also darker than it appears on the surface. | |

| I agree with Lord Siwoc, Ramshackle games have a nice gang game... But i hate the 5sided dice idea though, its just not to my taste. |

| I think that the models are cracking though, and the orks look plain scary |
