Middenheim Warband Models Empty
PostSubject: Middenheim Warband Models   Middenheim Warband Models Icon_minitimeTue 20 Sep 2011 - 0:56

Greetings.

So, I am looking to put together a second Warband to play until the other warbands in my campaign catch up a little bit to my dwarves. I like the idea of the Middinheimers, but there are literally no Middenheim models available from GW anymore, and the only only ones I can find on ebay go for a ton of money.

So, I'm wondering what would be more cost effective - going through Reaper for a dozen or so barbarians (male and female), or trying to convert standard mercs, maybe with dwarf heads, into middenheimers.

What do you think? Any suggestions or Mini sources outside of reaper with good and cheap visually proper Middenheimers?

Thanks! Those guys look amazing. As a history buff, their look is very, very period. Unfortunately, I think I want something a little more fantasy than period. Although it might be worth it for the sprues alone. How do the weapons look on GW models?

If you just need some bearded heads, check out these:

Also, bits sellers perhaps offer som middenheimer heads from the empire knights box. Try bitzbarn or bitzbox, or their likes.

Empire Militia and Empire Knightly Orders contain sprues for original Middennheimers.

I have the Empire Militia box in front of me right now and there is nothing specifically Middenheim-ian in there. Maybe the old box that was made specifically for Mordheim, but now the "new" one.
If you want a still kind of civil look with beards, you can take the militia box, add the heads linked above and maybe fur cloaks from Max Mini:
http://www.shop.battlefield-berlin.de/index.php/katalog/artikelinfo/20706-1-show-fur_cloaks_5.html Don't know where you are from and where you might get them though. If you are planning on bigger quantities, you might even consider the fur-tool by Micro Art Studios:
http://www.shop.battlefield-berlin.de/index.php/katalog/artikelinfo/23233-1-show-rubber_mould_light_fur_1.html

If you don't want civil, but totally barbarian, you can always use the chaos barbarians, even though I myself would prefer those by Dark Sword for Song of Ice and Fire:

Somewhere in there. Little pricey though.

You can pick up the Middenheimer sprue contents (which are now, as mentioned by Vagabond, included in the Knightly Orders box as parts for Knights of the White Wolf. Quite a few bits places have them if you keep your eyes peeled.

Still hunting for middenheimers. I'm seriously considering Chaos Marauders with heavy kit bashing. I think I can turn the picks they use into hammers, and maybe find some cloaks for them. I'd like to put them in chain mail or armor, though. So maybe Chaos Warriors with bearded heads.

Bleh. That's a lot of money to spend to make a warband, lol. Maybe I'll just spend 50 bucks with Reaper and be done with it.

Dear Games Workshop - make a Middenheim boxed set.

Heart,

Montegue.

One of the Reikland-Champs looks more like a Middenheimer imo - that could be one more mini.

And what just comes to my mind is that you could also use the Corsairs of Umbar from the LotR-Range:
http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?prodId=prod1090141 (other minis are on the right in the link)
They need some converting too and are slightly smaller than the WHFB-minis of course, but if you stick to just them, it should be all right. I played against a warband made of these models with my Witchhunters and it didn't feel strange at all.

most of the middenheim parts are out of stock, but they'll be back in eventually. Some of the hammers are in stock.

I *think* that will take care of me. Between greatsword bodies and legs, and a few bits here and there, I think I got what I needed. Thank you! If we can get a decent camera I might post some WIP pics soonish. I have my dwarf Warband completely painted, and would like to throw their pics up here, as well.

Hi there Montegue.

I was checking out e bay (UK) for some of the old classic Estalian miniatures by Games Workshop and I noticed a selection of old citadel norsemen and remembered seeing this post. Some of them look like they could fit your theme and there is also a couple of guys armed with bows. They are on for about £2 each.

Hope this helps

Cheers
