Wyrdstone Haunt on the mountains above Caragio
Rumours of a Fulcrum dubbed the Mermaid Emporium had reached Skabius. It was said warpstone was always plentiful whenever it appeared. So he took the Covenant deep inside the mountains of Sartosa to find it. When they found it, a rather strange figure was perched on top of it, making fun of everyone around. The mermaid just hissed and grinned at everyone coming too close.
The area was indeed full of warpstone, surely the reason why the Redteef were also approaching.
Blisterus took position on an high rocky formation and prepared his newly adquired bow. The rest of the Covenant advanced through the undergrowth.
Despite some minor squabbles erupting among their ranks, the Goblins advanced in two compact groups.
The Covenant advanced as one, quickly getting hold of two good sized shards of warpstone. One of Festerus' Disciples immediately backed away with some of the loot.
The two Goblin parties took shooting positions while securing a few warpstone.
Their wizard, Radu Corvin, summoned the power of the Amber Wind and turned into a feral bear.
Pustus flew back with the warpstone and joined the Disciple. Skabius grinned, Pustus' cunning really deserved him a place in the Covenant inner circle.
The Covenant advanced with caution as they were still too far to charge into the Goblin lines.
Both Skabius and Luciano tried to harness the Winds and cast their destructive spells. All their efforts achieved was tearing apart reality and let a Daemonette in. The creature gracefully dispatched the second of Festerus' Disciples.
Cheered by the unexpected help, a few Goblins manage to charge Infectius, while the rest braced their bows and threw whatever they had at hand at the skaven.
A few fell to the barrage, while Bilius and a Staff refrained from squirting the musk of fear and charged into the Daemonette.
But Skabius wrong-footed them by summoning the Horned One's pestilence. No Goblin was affected. Only the Daemonette exploded in a bright flash, leaving behind a tantalizing smell of decay.
Luciano softly cursed Skabius. He envied The Priest for his display of magical power, but mostly he hated the skaven for having left them exposed to a countercharge.
The huge spider of the Goblin Chief scythed two skaven while a bunch of goblins swarmed Skabius himself.
Rather than facing the huge arachnid, Luciano turned tail and fled. Unsurprisngly, the Covenant followed him, the high-pitched cries of the Forest Goblins ringing in their ears.

Surprise Attack outside Ragil
"That was a good shot, Poxus!" cheered Skabius while gnawing at the thig bone of the stag the Initiate felled. The whole Covenant agreed while gorging on the tough meat, but for Bilius paying penance for let the orc pirates capture him. In a dark corner of the dungeon, Luciano Malatesta smiled evily and agreed.
Early that morning, Skabius had emerged from his cell nursing Skurv, his recently enchanted Rat Familiar. "The boy brought good news! Caboteur is off to the Mermaid Emporium with the Ogresun crews, but not the officers. He's up something dealing with the Storm. We'll take on him while the big green-things are away! And from now on you shall respect Skurv as a brother in the Covenant!"
They had found the Bretonnian wizard sat atop the Emporium, holding his head in deep concentration. The Ogresuns were scattered around, patrolling the area.
Skabius sent Infectius and one of the Staves forth to silence Poxy.
The newest member of the Covenant, the Festering Pikes jumped at Throgg
Meanwhile Bilius took the remaining Staves against Skupper Lug.
The orc was quickly downed, but then Whalebelly charged in.
The other Orc pirates either run from their distant positions or braced their crossbows, but to no avail.
Festerus and his Disciples charged an incoming orc and the greenskin fell in a whirlwind of dirty blades.
Infectius was sent to face Whalebelly, but couldn't reach the Ogre.
Luciano and Poxus stood on a low hill, Caboteur in plain view from there.
The skaven arrows couldn't find their target, much to Luciano frustration. So he took a deep breath, focused on the energies that were gathering around the Emporium and harnessed the deadliest of them. Caboteur chocked and fell to his knees.
The energies he was carefully waving went suddenly out of control and a fiery portal opened at the feet of the Emporium, a bloated Plaguebearer dragging itself out of it.
The Ogresuns opened fire again, this time finding their marks.
Salty Ogbad arrived on the scene, cursing at Caboteur and the insubordinate crew, and charged headlong onto Skabius.
The Plaguebearer shumbled forward and its rusty blade made short work of Whalebelly.
Luciano didn't dare to cast another spell now that the Winds were blowing wild. He sooted Poxus instead, telling of the great honours Lord Skabius would place on him for killing Caboteur.
With greed in his eyes, the Initiate took aim and unleashead a volley of arrows. And as the Bretonnian wizard died a blue light wave erupted from the Mermaid Emporium.
After a moment of surprise, Infectius blinked his little eyes and charged the Plaguebearer. One of the Staves fell to his knees at the sight of such a glorius embodiement of pestilence.
Festerus run to help Skabius and the two skaven finally fell Salty.
Infectius clawed at the Plaguebearer and the deamon vanished in a puddle of dirt.
Leaderless and still shacken by the magical backlash, the Ogresuns fall back.
Remembering Caboteur death cry, Luciano approached the table, grabbed a piece of meet and turned to Poxus.
"That was indeed a good shot!". He never tought revenge could be as savoury as stag.

| The Ogresuns - Weathering the Storm
Dark Clouds GatherThe Ogresuns are bested in a Surprise Attack by the Plague Covenant“I have a very bad feeling about this…” said Mattius Caboteur. He squinted and adjusted the focus of the huge brass telescope. The telescope was suspended in a complex rigging – a web of ropes and pulleys strung from spars and masts that were lashed on to the roof of an old coastal Watchtower overlooking Skull Sands. The Celestial Warlock was studying the night sky from his makeshift observatory and muttering to himself. He made frequent notes in a small battered log book and looked increasingly worried as he read back his scribblings. He hadn’t shaved for three or four days, dark shadows underlined his bloodshot eyes. The trapdoor banged open and an Orc pirate climbed up the ladder from the room below. Caboteur scowled at the coarse and clumsy greenskin but held his tongue. It was Fetch – the Kommodore’s cabin servant – and he was carrying a mug of the foul coffee that the pirates always drank on night watches. It was disgustingly strong but he was almost used to it by now. "Ah, Fetch. I'm glad you're here: I need you to gather the crew. The Kommodore wants us to run an errand for him. Salty, Nog and Wyrdtoof are busy with him and he wants us to go to a spot near Ragil. Hmmm. bring Mr Whalebelly too." ~ ~ ~ The pirates were scattered in a loose circle around the Mermaid Emporium as the early morning cleared: That fishy Fulcrum seemed to appear where-every they went! They were all sleepy and hung-over but they were used to doing as they were told. Mattius Caboteur wearily climbed into the crow's nest on top of the Mermaid's tank and started reciting the ancient words of the cataclysmic spell - a spell that would enable him to change the future in subtle but critical ways. He was hoping to save his own life, to cheat the death he had seen predicted in the stars over and over again, night after night, for six weeks. Something stirred in the bushes. Something... ratty. The Skaven burst from the tree-line and rushed at the Orc sentries. Whalebelly the Ogre was the first to come to his senses and counter-charge the Plague Cultists. Throgg hacked down one of his assailants but the other two would soon gain the upper hand over him. Capsize Naz faced similar odds. Fetch and a few of the other pirates opened fire on the Skaven once the initial surprise had passed. Luciano Malatesta, the Death Warlock, reached out with his evil powers and struck Caboteur down. The Bretonnian writhed in agony on the deck of the Emporium, clutching his chest. With his concentration broken the Winds of Magic he had been marshalling were set free - an explosion of Wild Magic ripped open a portal to the ever-present Realm of Chaos. A disgusting bloated thing emerged. The Mermaid thrashed the water in her tank in fury. The Rat Ogre ran at Whalebelly but the Plague Bearer beat him to it. The Ogre Bodyguard had already suffered several wounds from the Skavens' poisoned blades. The Daemon finished him off. Furious at the Celestial Warlock for tricking the crew into following him for his own ends, disobeying the Kommodore's orders, Salty Ogbad suddenly appeared and ploughed into Skabius. The Plague Priest was almost as tough as the redoubtable Salty, and he had a lot of friends near-by! A Skaven Plague Monk Initiate took loosed a volley of arrows hitting the unfortunate Bretonnian wizard - Caboteur died in a corona of blue fire from the Mermaid Emporium. The Skaven were spurred on by the victorious cries of Malatesta. The old wizard almost danced with glee. The Rat Ogre got his claws into the Plague Daemon. More and more of the pirates were pulled down by the Skaven Cultists. The Orcs were shaken by the ferocity of the attack and as they really didn't understand why they were there it was hard for them to put their all into the fight. When Salty was knocked on the head, just as the Rat Ogre turned the Daemon into nothing more than a puddle of slime, the rest of the Orc Pirates pulled back. The took their wounded with them but they did not seem to be anything left of the Celestial Wizard. ~ ~ ~

| The Ogresuns - Weathering the Storm
Send in the CloudsThe Ogresuns take on the Plague Covenant and the Black Orcs of Norsca... again."So you'll pay us to bring back the lad?" said Deffgit raising one incredulous eyebrow. "Yes, yes!" said the fat merchant as he looked around the room nervously. The little coastal inn was not the dirtiest establishment he had ever been in, but it was close. "So long as you get him back to me unharmed..." Deffgit nodded, sucked on his pipe and blew out a lungful of noxious smoke (the merchant coughed a little). "Don't you worry none mate, we'll get him home safe an' well." "Thankyou, thank you sir... You won't mention this to anyone though... it's rather embarrassing to the family..." "Huh! Don't think on it mate. I assume you ain't employing anyone else? said Deffgit. "Nonononono.. no, of course not!" the merchant stammered, sweating a little (and knowing he had...) "You won't come across anyone else looking for him, if that's what you mean?" "Hmmmm." said Deffgit. ~ ~ ~ "There he is, the funny looking begger!" shouted Nastyface from the cliff top. Salty Ogbad pointed his big spyglass in the direction the bearded pirate pointed. "Aye, that'll be the git." said Salty "Signal the Kommodore." As the pirates rushed towards the strangely-dressed human he squealed and scampered off into the jungle. He was spooked by the brutish buccaneers but genuinely terrified by the horde of Skaven coming from his left! As he ran through a rocky arch he yelped in fright as the Norscan Black Orc suddenly clanked into view. Unnoticed by most of those present, a Pink Horror slipped through a shimmering razor-thin cut in reality. The coruscating flames of Tzeentch flashed and twisted round him. Mr Whalebelly and Infectus the Rat Ogre clashed, the pirate Ogre managed to fend of most of the mutated beast's laws. The Skaven Plague Priest released a foul cloud of smoke - Fishgutz II and the Warlock known as Pauli Di'zguised choked and fell. Wyrdtoof summoned the power of Gork and charged into the fight, with crackling green fire arced around his fists and club. Even with the intervention of the Kommodore, Mr Whalebelly was still felled by the Rat Ogre. The Black Orcs joined the fray and laid into the Plague Cultists with abandon! The Skaven fled! Wyrdtoof turned his attention on the Norscan Nuttaz and dealt with two of them in quick succession! This was a Shaman not to be messed with! The merchant's son fled into the bushes and disappeared without a trace... ~ ~ ~ back in the little coastal inn... "Well I bain't gonna tell dat git his son which is gone for good... you never know, he may turn up again sometime." said Nastyface with a note of hope that he really didn't believe. "He shouldn't have sent them Northerners after him as well. Serves 'im right, says I."

The Lost Prince in the jungle outside Vercuso
The Covenant tracked their quarry in the dim light of dawn.
But the fat, nervous merchant that had sent them to catch his lost son had played them a nasty trick. Both the Ogresuns and the Norscan Orcs were chasing the boy.
Skabius led the Covenant forward and nearly caught the ridicolous youngster.
The pirate Orcs rushed ahead and their Ogre slammed into Infectius.
The young man-thing tried to fled the incoming orcs but found its way blocked by the lowliest members of the Covenant.
He tried to avoid them and turned left, only to find the threatening Norscan awaiting for him.
Suddenly, the air cracked around Poxus and Blisterus as an Horror appeared from nowhere and engulfed them in sorcerous fire.
The Monk Initiates, unscated, returned fire but their arrows and stones couldn't hurt the unnatural creature.
The rest of the Covenant swarmed forward and one of Festerus' Disciples managed to catch the young man-thing.
Skabius charged Whalebelly while chanting his pestilence summoning spell.
Not far away, Skurv wispered a word of power and the blessing of the Horned Rat spread from the Plague Priest.
Fishgutz and the Ogresuns' new warlock fell, their skin bursting into sores. The pain screams of the warlock reminded Skabius of something, but he couldn't tell what.
Hungry for revenge, Deffgit himslef charged into Skabius combat, his squig hound growling and snapping at his side.
Wyrdtoof, a huge club of pure magical energy glowing in his hands, and Capsize Naz tried to break the Covenant lines and get to the man-thing.
Throgg directed the Ogresuns gunline and both Blisterus and Poxus fell under a rain of darts.
Skabius and Infectius managed to down Whalebelly, but at the same time the Shaman and his fellow orc get rid of the skaven facing them.
Then the Norscan surounded Pustus and the Festering Pikes.
As the armoured orcs nearly butchered the trio, Skabius called for a retreat. The merchant's son was not worth that much. And most importantly, he could now blame Malatesta for having accepted the merchant's offer.

Lost in the bogs at the Howling Marsh
After many attempts, Malatesta finally managed to predict exactly were the Mermaid Emporium would appear and be there, at the edge of the Howling Marsh, to make good use of the Fulcrum.
And with his great surprise, the first thing he saw were the Ogresuns, scattered across the bogs and unaware of the incoming Redtoof horde.
He also noted a strange figure, the Winds of Magic gathering around him in a familiar way. A way that should no longer be.
For good mesaure he sent a magical warning to the nearby Covenant. Meanwhile, the Forest Goblins surged forward, ganging up against those Ogresuns they could get to.
The Covenant arrived on the scene, but to Malatesta disappointment Skabius quickly stroke a deal with Dredger, the biggest of the Ogresuns' officers. Orcs and Skaven alike strode forward to support the embattled pirates.
Deffgit, Wyrdtoof and Whalebelly led the Ogresuns' countercharge and slammed into the Redteef Chief's spider.
Salty Ogbad and the mysterious figure run to support their other mates.
The goblin countercharged them, bringing both their shaman an their warlock into the fray.
The trio led by Deffgit unsaddled the Chief from his multilegged steed and trumpled him into the ground.
Suddenly a purplish fog raised from the Marsh so quickly and thik that Malatesta could barly see anything.
Shoutings and the splashing of heavy boots on mud could be heard, then the clashing of blades and high-pitched screams and coughing fits.
When the fog lifted suddenly as it had raised, the Ogresuns were nowhere to be seen. The goblins were running away while the Covenant was spoling the fallen ones of their equipment.
"D'you see, Malatesta?" Skabius shouted looking up "Sometime it's better to make a deal with those pirates. And now they own us quite a lot!"

Ambush outside Beffardo
Skabius was scribing down an incantation when Skurv climbed on the desk. "Master, master!" the diminutive familiar wispered "The pirates have lot of shiny-shiny money! Run-run, the Iron Orcs are getting there too!" Skabius rolled the scroll and burst up. "it's time for Deffgit to pay back!"
They found the Ogresuns huddled around the ever present Mermaid Emporium, counting their loot. The Norscan orcs were getting there from the Covenant left.
"You dirty bunch of skurvy dogs!" shouted Bilius above the shoulders of the covenant henchmen. From the Monk back, Skabius added his own "Worth for nothing landlubbers! It's time you pay, or is there some more goblin you have to run away from?".
The insults sorted the desired effect. Not only the crew rushed for the Norscans, the officers joined them rather than running away with their loot.
Fishgutz was so eager to show what he was made of that he charged, alone, the nuttaz.
While the Covenant front rank clashed with the Ogresuns, the Monk Initiates and Malatesta shot at the more distant pirates.
The Initiates didn't find their mark while Luciano couldn't cast his spell. He couldn't be sure, but it seemed like the Norscans' Windcatcher was responsible for it. Even more strangely, he looked decidedly different since last time.
As usual, Infectius and Whalebelly took on each other while orcs and skaven fought around them.
The armoured orcs charged on the incoming orc pirates.
Fishgutz was surrounded by the howling nuttaz.
Wyrdtoof run for the Norscans swinging his magical club and pushing Odin away with another spell.
Deffgit, Dredger, Salty and two hands lined up to face the Covenant while Whalebelly finally overcame Infectius.
The nuttaz joined Odin, thrashed Wyrdtoof and started pulling him away from the rest of the Ogresuns.
A scratch from Blisterus' infected dagger was all it took to fell the badly wounded Whalebelly.
Skabius and Bilius led the charge against Deffgit's group. Frothing and screaming, Bilius swinged his censer and landed it on the unfortunate orc facing him. When the greenish smoke cleared, both were sprawled on the ground on a bed of gleaming warpstone shards.
"These stones will settle your debt, Capt'n!" mocked Skabius over its club, locked with the orc's cutlass. The Norscans as well seemed happy with the captured Shaman and the loot he was carrying.
Exchanging fiery glances the three warbands backed away from each other.
Skabius turned to Skurv, grinning. "Get to the Norscans' man-thing and teach him how to sell prisoners!"
Chuckling, the familiar scuttled for the shelter of the Windcatcher's robes.

| A warm day’s workThe Ogresuns lie in wait for the Plague Covenant and give them a broadsideSweat ran down the backs of the Ogresuns and soaked through the filthy shirts as they lounged on the cliff-tops overlooking Skull Sands. They passed around bottles of three-water grog and grumbled about the heat. They had been waiting in the late summer sunshine all day and they were not happy about it. Just down the hill from the there was a rapidly flowing stream that bubbled out of a spring less than half a mile from them but occurred to none of them that the water would cool them down. It came far too close to washing, which they all knew was an unhealthily and dangerous thing to be avoided at all costs. Salty Ogbad unshipped his brass telescope and scanned the horizon for the hundredth time that day. “Still no sign of ‘em Kommodore” he said. “Whassat?” yelled Deffgit. Salty repeated himself without a second thought, and then continued “How long do we wait Boss? The Boyz is getting right fed up.” The Kommodore puffed on his pipe a few times and stared at the distance tree-line. They had heard a rumour that the Plague Covenant were going to be at the Mermaid Emporium at dawn, so as soon as the weird and wonderful glass tank had appeared on the cliff top they had hurried to the high ground above it. The Skaven had not appeared though. Maybe he was being led a merry dance? Suddenly there was movement in the trees! The huge albino Rat Ogre they call Infectius appeared, closely followed by a swarm of ratmen. “This is it!” cried Salty as he saw them rushing up the slope “Beat to quarters!” The pirates leapt from the ground, the grog bottle was forgotten for now, and organised themselves into a rough line. The Skaven advanced at speed in a mass – formed up into a tight block of ranks and files to protect them from the Orcs’ fire! The pirates pelted the ratmen with dozens of crossbow bolts as they ran across the open ground, dropping a few of the front row. The Plague Covenant broke ranks at the last moment as they splashed across the stream. Whalebelly the Ogre rushed forward to meet the rat Ogre head-on; the two massive fighters had fought many times before but this would be the final round for one of them - both were after the other's blood. Kommodore Deffgit directed the action as the Skaven crashed into the pirate's hasty line of battle. Whalebelly was wounded by Infectius but the Ogre was made of tough stuff - he brought his hook-hand down into the Rat Ogre's right shoulder and tore a great gash though it's pale flesh. As the beast twisted in pain he ran it through with his cutlass and Infectius dropped. The Plague Covenant were not expecting the fight with the Ogresuns that day and chose to fall back in good order rather than continue a fight they weren't going to gain anything from! | |

Skirmish at Skull Sands
Skabius threw a handful of fell-leave in his cauldron and stirred furiosly. He had lost two of his most valuable followers in the last two days.
The first to fell had been his pet Infectius. The thrice-damned Ogresuns had been waiting them, safely entrenched behind a fast moving stream at Skull Sands. Apparently they didin't like the way Skabius collected his money and were looking for revenge.
The Covenant was returning from a succesful ingredient collection. Seeing their way barred they formed in a tight pack and tried to make the most of cover, crossbow bolts darting all around them.
Poxus returned fire with his longbow and one of the orc pirates fell.
The Covenant nearly made it to the stream, just to find Whalebelly running at Infectius, the target of much pirates' shots until that moment.
In a rare display of tactical acumen, the orcs restrained from charging and kept pelting the Covenant.
Festerus run to land his one good arm in support of Infectius.
Bilius led a few henchmen across the stream and into the orc gunline.
Skabius and the few henchmen left kept their heads down and crawled closer to the stream.
The fights went horribly wrong. Bilius censer couldn't find its mark, the orcs just ignoring its smoke and getting hold of the Monk. Meanwhile, Whalebelly's cutlasses made a mess of Infectius.
Skabius called for a retreat, knowing numbers where against the skaven now. At least, later that night, Bilius made up for his capture. Sold to the Lock & Quay for a special fight, he worked himself into a raging fury, but let the pit fighter charge him. He dodged all the man-thing's blow and pummelled him repeatedly with the censer, a dense cloud filling the arena. The Monk killed the Pit Fighter, and a few spectators in the bargain, earning himself the title of Censer Bearer.

Lost in the Bogs at the Howling Marsh
But the day after, while collecting fell-leave in the Howling Marsh, they found themselves in a vice between the Ogresuns and Odin's can-orcs.
Skabius noted something strange with the Northeners' windcatcher, but after all all man-things looked the same to him, so he just ignored the hidden figure.
The Ogresuns rushed forward, trying to get to grisp with Pustus.
The Black Orcs and their nuttaz ganged up on the Covenant scattered first line and dispatched them.
But then the Dread-rat, that wonderfully mutated creature slumbered forward and bathed them in its fiery breath.
Those skaven secure on elevated positions opened fire with bows and sling, allowing the rest of the Covenant to fall back and regroup.
Even Pustus' lone pursuer was halted, giving the Initiate some hope.
The Black Orcs were retreating, still shocked by the Dread-rat assault, when Malatesta shouted a warning.
But it was too late, just a few skaven managed to duck for cover. The rest had, once again, to serve as targeting practice for the Ogresuns. Pustus got the worst of it, his corpse left behind by the fleeing Covenant.
Skabius damned Malatesta while pulling a prisoner out of his cage. The Priest was sure the warlock had waited just to see the skaven beaten. He angrily slid the man-thing's throat and let the warm blood flow into the cauldron.
At least the ingredient collection was going well. A few more touches and his plague would have been ready, just when the Storm would have reached its peak.

| The Ogresuns - Weathering the Storm
Best Served ColdThe Ogresuns and the Black Orcs of Norsca attack the Plague Covenant on two fronts Whalebelly the Ogre sat down heavily on a flat rock and concentrated. Since Mattius had exploded in a flash of blue light he had been troubled by a need for revenge for the death of his friend. But he was unsure whose fault the Bretonnian wizard’s death actually was. After all, someone must be to blame: it just couldn’t have been an accident! After several minutes a small light came on in his eyes – it could only have been another wizard! A few minutes later he stopped feeling dizzy with the shock of this conclusion and started to think which wizard it was most likely to be… there were an awful lot of them knocking about these days… probably had something to do with the weird colour of the sky and the number of sea creatures that fell out of it… and all the monsters… Mattius kept talking about one of them who didn’t like him… He stood and shouted “Dat’s da fella!!” as he lumbered off towards the inn where the rest of the Ogresuns were drinking with one name ringing through his head: Luciano Malatesta. ~ ~ ~ The Orc pirates stormed forward in a solid mass, drunk, angry and out for blood. The clearly reasoned evidence and logical assumptions of Mr Whalebelly arguments laid out the only conclusion that any of them could see: Malatesta killed Mattius and he must be made to pay for it. The Skaven in his pay were searching the desolate Howling Marshes and both the Orc warbands caught them quite unawares. Floggin Morr led the way, for some reason Mr Whalebelly's vitriol had had a particular effect on him. The Norscans crashed into the Skaven flank with their full, and not insignificant, weight... ... but something bigger was coming for them. The mutated and misshapen, crab-clawed Rat Ogre had a tricky secret that he revealed to the Black Orcs dismay - he breathed a great gout of fire over them! Those that survived were furious and blackened (and a little excited by the prospect of such an unusual beasty to add to their saga!) they charged the monstrosity and laid into it with axe and sword. Fishgutz III started arguing and shouting incoherently while the mysterious Pauli stood passively by and listened inattentively. Whalebelly spotted his prey and made a dash for him - the wizard fell back before the determined advance of the sweaty brute! Poxus rasied his prized bow and fired rapid volleys of arrows at Floggin Morr and the pirate was washed down-stream by the swift-flowing little river. The wizard Malatesta made his escape and Mr Whalebelly took out his frustration on one of his minions!

Long forgotten magic items are always unveiled during a Storm of Magic. No sane warband leader would miss the chance to put his greedy fingers on one of them.
At the end of each game, during the exploration phase both warbands roll a D6. The winning warband is allowed to re-roll it. Whoever scores higher rolls a D6 on the following table. In the case of a tie both warbands roll on the table.
1..... Nothing! The rumour about magic items were just folk tales. 2-3... A book bristling with power. You get a Tome of Magic (Holy Tome for Sisters of Sigmar and Witch Hunters) 4-6... Bounty Hunting on the mountains around the Penitentiary
Big Vera, the infamous owner of Vercuso bounty office, had issued a warning about a bunch of fugitives hiding on the peaks around the Penitentiary. The fact that rumors circulated about a fabled magic item appearing in the same area was more than enough for Skabius to take the Covenant for a mountain trek.
In the pale mist of down of the third day, they spotted the brigands hiding in an isolated tower.
The Covenant halted and issued their first warning. In response a few arrow tips glistened through the windows.
And then came the moking insults of the Ogresuns. The pirates must have followed the same rumors.
Deffgit and Mr Whalebelly darted forward, taking half of the crew away from the rest.
The Covenant advanced sneakly, trying to hide from the crossbow bolts coming from the tower.
Deffgit and Whalebelly took position on a narrow gorge. Safely out of crossbow range they challenged the skaven to come forward. Their party followed, close behind.
The other Ogresuns get closer to the tower, getting shelter behind a rocky outcrop.
The Covenant took position on the other side of the gorge while trying to stay out of sight from the tower.
Unseen by both the brigands and the orcs, Blisterus and Poxus opened fire against Deffgit and Whalebelly, taking the Kommodore down.
Enraged at seeing his old mate down, Whalebelly barreled forward, but the rocky ground slowed him down.
Nastyface lined up the rest of the crew and added their fire to the brigand's one.
Although having lost a few henchmen, Skabius' relic filled the Covenant of courage and they charged the group led by Whalebelly.
Bilius' censer landed on the massive ogre, downing him. The fumes were too much for Bilius, but Skabius took the chance and gave Whalebelly a good payback for taking Infectius' life.
Dredger and the orcs with him managed to stem the Covenant henchmen assault.
But then Skabius, Bilius and one of his Disciples charged in and get rid of all the orcs.
Nastyface and his group, peppered by brigands' bolts and distant from the rabid skaven, considered their options and run away.
Taking the brigands' hideout was easy work then.
Skabius considered the amount of loot the man-things had stashed and quickly realized there was enough to pay for a revitalization treatment for Infectius.
And then Bilius emerged coughing from the cave he had fallen into after the charge on Whalebelly.
He was encased in a heavy plate mail encrusted with glowing runes.

| The Ogresuns - Weathering the Storm
The Turn of the TideThe Ogresuns and the Plague Covenant clash for custody of some dishonest desperadosThunder rumbled in the distance and the Ogresuns looked up and scanned the horizon. Half of them assumed it was gunfire and seemed a little disappointed when lightning flashed from the heavy clouds over the sea and another rumble follow a short while later. The Celestial Warlock Pauli D’Izguised heard a rumour that a Tome of Sorcery was hidden in the garret of an old abandoned Watch Tower at Hanging Ditch, so he convinced Kommodore Deffgit to take the Ogresuns to the tower to retrieve it. After the notorious Big Vera, of the Vercuso Bounty Office, posted a reward for a bunch of mutineers hiding in the mountains near the Penitentiary Luciano Malatesta decided to collect it, so he took the Plague Covenant to Hanging Ditch as back up. By chance the two warbands clashed, yet again! The building that the mutineers had chosen as their hold-out was a sturdy tower in the centre of a mountain plateau. They were heavily armed and desperate and didn’t take kindly to anyone approaching the building too closely. The pirates split into two groups and took cover from the hail of mutineers’ crossbow bolts. The Plague Covenant stayed in one large mass and headed for the Kommodore! The mutineers, knowing it was the noose for them if they were captured fire at anything they could see, the mutant crab-clawed Rat Ogre took the brunt of their fire for a few minutes! Salty Ogbad’s party aimed a few shots at the horrific beastie as well, from the safety of the jungle trees. Deffgit and Whalebelly headed for the narrow gorge on their right flank… … closely followed by some of the toughest, battle-hardened pirates in the crew. At Salty’s command, Badhook led a rush from the bushes to the cover of a sandy cliff, hoping to avoid the attention of the mutineers. The Skaven pelted them with sling stones and arrows. Leading the charge the Kommodore took and arrow in the leg and went over The pirates of his group braced themselves for the charge! Wyrdtoof and Nastyface tried to get to the action to lend a hand; the Shaman summoned the massive spectral club of Gork… … but they were a long way off! Swords clashed in the gorge as the battle was joined in earnest! The Ogresuns were worn down: one after another fell to the greater numbers as the slightest advantage was pressed home by the Ratmen – every time one slipped or stumbled or was beaten to the ground a swarm of Skaven leapt on them with daggers drawn! Luciano Malatesta pushed forward and brought his dark sorceries into play. Salty Ogbad realised that the Skaven had the upper hand; half the crew were down – some of them would never get up again… he gave the signal to disengage. ~ ~ ~ Some hours later…Darkness had fallen and the moons hung low in the sky, the wind swirled dead leaves in spirals, Pauli and Salty crept back to the tower at Hanging Ditch and watched… After searching the hide-out, turning every room of the tower upside down, the Skaven had left with the mutineers in chains, miserable and dejected, knowing they were going to their death. Salty and Pauli cautiously went into the building, picking his way through the shattered doorway and over the broken furniture scattered over the flagstone floor. They climbed the steep wooden stairs into the upper floors; everywhere it was the same scene of destruction – the mutineers had ransacked the place even before the Skaven started searching. The sickly blue-green light of the chaos moon reflected off the metal clasp on a heavy leather-bound book that stuck out from under a broken bed. Pauli greedily snatched it up and stroked it like some kind of treasured pet. Salty eyed the wizard cautiously as something odd seemed to be happening to him… the bone-structure of his face seemed to be moving, reforming under his skin… his clothing blurred and changed, fading and transforming into the somewhat familiar shapes of a Bretonnian sailor. “What the zog?” muttered Salty as there before him stood Mattius Caboteur!

| Mattius Caboteur returns! Ah hah! (Not sure what's going on but it sounds cool.)
Bounty Hunting! Icky scenario. So are you going to do Stagecoach Ambush too? Of the Empire in Flames scenarios I really only like the Frenzied Mob and The Thing in the Woods. Good to see a report featuring the scenario though.

It might surprise you to find I'm making it up as I go along! He's this chap: He's been with the Ogresuns since the start of this campaign, but he "died", in a flash of blue magical light, a few weeks ago.... - Von Kurst wrote:

I quite like Bounty Hunting. We keep rolling Stage Coach Ambush, sighing and then re-rolling it as we don't have anything to represent one... need to fix that at some point! Zelophahad came a cropper from the Thing in the Woods - his Norscan Black Orcs thought they could take them.... Dazza's Forest Goblins just watched and laughed and held up score cards...

The Thing in the Woods of Ragil
The revitalization treatment for Infectius, costly as it had been, had worked well. The albino brute opened the Covenant column as they ventured into the woods of Ragil.
In his search for ingredients, Skabius had heard of some foul, warped creatures infesting those woods. Their blood or shards of claw might well add a particular twist to his plague.
But the Norscan Black Orcs seemed to be after the same prey. Once again, their Windcatcher attracted Skabius and Malatesta attention, just to be forgotten a moment later.
The nuttaz spotted one of the creatures lurking in the thick vegetation and run screaming in its direction.
The Thing retreated into the deep of the wood and the mad orcs turned to the Covenant.
Two of the smallest orcs run for the cover of a palisade meant to keep the creatures away from the village.
Another creature jumped out of the wood on the Covenant's right flank and slammed onto the Dread-rat.
The Covenant left the mutated ratogre to deal with the Thing and closed towards the Black Orcs.
Poxus stood behind and unleashed a volley of crossbow bolts on the nuttaz, downing one.
Seeing their comrade down and the skaven first line preparing their slings, the Black Orcs cowered behind the palisade.
Infectius rushed for a nutta more than willing to meet him.
The Dread-rat managed to wound the creature but was knocked-over in return.
Odin brutally restored order amongst the insubordinated smaller orcs, then led the countercharge on Infectius.
But he got more than expected. The ratogre stood to them and stunned one, earning time for Bilius to lead the Festering Pikes into the melee. When the smoke of his censer cleared, Odin stood alone, surronded by skaven.
Then the second creature bursted from the woods and attacked the nutta that had been left behind.
The Dread-rat regained its footing, only to be felled again.
Odin managed to cut through the skaven surrounding him and made for safety, quickly followed by the rest of his band.
Mokingly, one of the Festering Pikes grabbed a black hood from the mud and threw it at the fleeing orcs.
"Run-run, green-things! This'll help hiding your faces, yes-yes!"

| MORE COOL STUFF! Caboteur is a VERY NICELY DONE mini...from the looks of that fish, he's most definitely a fragrant fellow to boot. The Warp Creatures are FINE surrogates for The Thing. AND a GREAT report despite The Forces of Green-ness losing to a bunch of hyper lab experiments. | |

Wyrdstone Hunt on the Plain of Caprio
It had been a long journey from Ragil to Caprio, but finally the plain opened in front of the Covenant.
As usual, however, someone else stood on their way. The Ogresuns didn't seem to have learnt their lesson.
Skabius urged his minions forward and they nearly made it to the lumps of warpstone that had coalesced in the middle of the valley.
Dredger took a small party into a good shooting position. Whalebelly and Deffgit, predictably, run ahead eager to cross their cutlasses with the skaven.
In a display of verminous valour, a Festering Pike and an Infected Blade jumped ahead, grabbed the warpstone and run back behind a sandy dune.
The rest of the Covenant took position on either side of the dune, challenging the orcs to get past them.
The Ogesuns came forward while Whalebelly rediscovered the pleasure of facing Infectius.
Dredger and his ladz opened fire on the skaven running with the warpstone, but the two managed to dive behind cover.
Infectius vented his anger for having being killed and ignoring the stunned brute charged another orc pirate. The Covenant joined him.
Malatesta was sure to have seen a most unnerving figure across the swirling melee. He left the skaven dealing with the orcs and looked for a better point of view.
Festerus run his knife across Whalebelly's throat. The Ogre won't be a problem for quite a long time. Meanwhile, Skabius summoned the Horned One's pestilence.
Chocking because of Bilius' censer fumes and in pain for Skabius' pestilence, the Ogresuns were nearly wiped out.
From the rickety bridge, Malatesta saw the orcs being run down. And Caboteur watching in despair at the scene.
"Damn you, Caboteur! You escaped death once, I'll make sure it won't happen again!"

The Plague Covenant vs Odin's Black Orcs Chance Encounter on the road to Vercuso
In the fading light of dusk, Skabius looked at the shambling silouette of the troll. It took him the whole day to track and bind one, but now he had the source for the last few ingredients needed for his plague.
The allarmed squealing of his minions snatched the Plague Priest from his dreams of power. They had nearly stumbled on the Norscan Black Orcs.
Skabius reacted quickly, stealing the initiative from Odin. He sent Infectius, the Dread-rat and the troll ahead while charching the sling-armed henchmen to Malatesta and Poxus.
The two took the group on a good shooting position and opened fire. Malatesta sent one of the heavily armoured orcs to the ground and Poxus hit a large figure hidden in the vegatation.
Odin slapped a vociferous orc and the boy bursted forward to regain his master's favour. A swords-wielding ogre crushed out of the vegetatation and into the troll. The two brutes traded blows, both unable to beat their opponent. While the Norscan closed distance with the Skaven a frothing orc caped in a black hood vented his fury on his fallen comrade.
The orcs having fall short in their attempt to reach the Skaven, Skabius ordered a series of multiple charges while safely staying back and calling for the purulent gift of the Horned Rat.
The Dread-rat belched flames on the unarmoured orcs and one fell to them. A few more, including Odin himself, bent coughing as the Horned Rat blessed them.
Bilius smashed away Olaf and then fell to the fumes of his own censer.
Festerus and an Infected Blade ganged-up on the ogre, leaving him exposed to the troll attack. Its vomit burnt trough the ogre's armour and the brute fell.
Blisterus tried to prove himself against two opponents but was easily dispatched.
Anyway, with their leader sensless and a good half of their companions sprawled on the ground, the standing orcs realised it was time for yet another retreat.
Skabius knelt down where the ogre had stood and filled a flask with some troll vomit. A few more warptone shards to go into the cauldron and his plague would have been good. It would have been perfect once he could have channeled the power of the Storm into it.
