| Hi,
on Sunday a question came up how to handle high ground and shooting.
Can you choose between all targets ( above and below you) or can you only choose between targets below you, and shoot the nearest target on your level and above?
How do you handle it?

| Not really sure, but the reason you get to pick target when on high ground is that, you are not really in danger, and can pick to shoot at anybody - so i say: yes you can -ofc if somebody is in the Same building as you, you got to shoot at them -Skavenslayer | |

| i would handle it this way, you may pick up freely targets which are below you and nearer/easier to hit as a target in the same high or higher as you. example: - Code:
-
S 4 X 1 2 3 X 5
S=Shooter Numbers=targets X=terrain You may choose your targets between 1to4. Target 5 is further away than target 4, which is the same high as yourself. Only if target 4 is more difficult to hit(cover), than you may choose target 5, too.

| Well, if you go by the word: - Quote :
- shooting from
an elevated position A model situated in an elevated position (ie, anything that is more than 2" above the table surface, such as an upper floor of a building), may freely pick any target he can see and shoot at it. The exception to this rule is that if there are enemies in the same building and in line of sight of the shooter, he must shoot at these, as they present a more immediate threat. It would, theoretically, go like this: if you are 2" above ground, you can pick any target. Even ones on a more elevated position. Only if there is someone in the same building (NOT on the same level) with LOS, you have to shoot at him (even if he is harder to hit than other models). But this has always been nonsense to us. We would allow to pick any model on a lower level or the easiest to shoot at at the same or a higher level. (btw being on higher ground always gives cover from a shot below). So, in Saranor's example, you could choose to shoot at all from 1-5. If there was a 6 behind 4 and on 4's level, you wouldn't be allowed to shoot at 6.

| The reason you have to shoot the closed target when on the ground is that he is the biggest threat... When you are on a elevated level, everbody not in the same building is not the biggest threat, so you get to pick target.
So the way is see it is that both, RAW and RAI - let you pick target when on a elevated position.

- closest target
You must shoot at the closest enemy, as he represents the most immediate threat and therefore the most obvious target. However, you may shoot at a more distant target if it is easier to hit or if closer models are stunned or knocked down (see diagram on next page). For example, a closer target may be hard to hit because it is in cover, whilst a more distant target might be in the open and therefore an easier shot. We play that an elevated warrior can pick its target UNLESS there is an enemy on the same level in the same building that is as easy to shoot any other enemy in which case the warrior must shoot at that enemy on the same level in the same building as it represents the most immediate threat. Edited to remove quote of Grimscull's post...

| @ Rational Lemming: what part of my quote does your quote refer to?
@ Skavenslayer: I'm not sure, but I believe we both play it the same way, the wording is just different.

| @Grimscull... I rewrote my post several times. It probably doesn't actually refer to your quote any longer. I'll change it. | |

| Thanks for all your comments.
We play with a lot of bridges between the buildings, so we have a lot of movement also on higher ground levels
......................................4 S....................2 .............1.................3
I would alow shooter S to shoot at 1 or 2 only, not on three if thete is a direct connection between S and 2
If there is no direct connection like a bridge i would also allow him to shoot on 3.
4 i think is the less dangerous oponent in view of range, so i would not allow to shoot him.
What do you think?
