We said that we will be testing Karak Zorn, but you know how it is... pics or it didn't happen
Here we have something for all the people who want to know how it is with our tests
The first battle report from Karak Zorn. We played on our table, it's still far from being finished. We have only few pieces of 3D scenery, so we used 2D dungeons made by Kadzik and Tattooed_Bastard. I hope the next battle will be played on more than three 3D pieces of terrain
Although I think the 2D table is really not bad, and it's easier to make. Some pics are not really good and we're sorry for that, but it's difficult to make them look good with so bad lighting we have.
The objective of this scenario was simple treasure hunt. But unlike the simple treasure hunt scenario, it wasn't only going through the dungeons and taking the treasures. The warbands had to look for them. They could do it by excavation or plundering. Excavation takes 2 turns, but it's safe. Plundering is faster, but you can be hit by some old traps set by dwarfs of Karak Zorn. The first warband, which gathers treasures worth 100 gold crowns, wins the battle.
Oh, and just one more thing. I will describe the battle as a Skaven player... so if you want to know how it was with skinks, you have to ask Kadzik for his report
Yesterday Skaven beast trainer Skirhisk, renegade from Clan Moulder, decided to go into the dungeons of Karak Zorn, to look for new treasures. Treasures don't mean much to Skaven, but some parts of their equipment can be only sold by the races who like these funny shiny things like gold or jewels. They also needed to buy new parts for experiments and inventions made by Isk, the scientist. As the warband leader, Skirhisk has taken the way into the depths to find more treasures and the whole warband came with him.
Unfortunately, some group of funny blue lizardmen decided to go the same way. Skaven don't trust lizardmen. They're too cunning to trust anyone. The decision was simple – if the lizards really want to cross their way, they must be killed immidiately.
Skirhisk has taken the best warriors with him – Isk, Mink and Fuzz – two beast handlers, two scouts whose name he always forgot and the dangerous beast – rat ogre. They didn't fear the skinks, not yet – they had still time to meet them. They didn't know yet that the skinks have taken a very strong beast with them – a kroxigor.
Although the enemies were faster, Skirhisk wasn't upset about it. He commanded one of the scouts to go into the little chamber and look for some shiny things. Fuzz and another scout stayed with him, because the strange noises made by the lizards were much closer than before.
The other group was looking for treasures in some old cave, where the fallen dwarfs must have built their shrine. Although the lizardmen were now really close, Skirhisk didn't want to go back. The excavation was a long business and they needed time to look for gold and jewels.
The voices of the scouts were high. They must have found something, thought Skirhisk. But they were too far to hear him. It's their problem, thought the leader. If they don't find a right way, they will die. But what's the problem, there are many like them...
There were also two groups of skinks now. The lizardmen have taken two ways that could lead them to the both groups of Skaven. Skirhisk knew now that he can't avoid the fight. Rat ogre roared with anger, demanding fresh meat. Good-good, thought the leader, it's time to feed him.
The other group was surrounded. A shaman, a strange giant snake and three other skink warriors attacked the ratmen quickly. Strange magic light hit the scout. It didn't hurt him, but he couldn't do anything in this fight, trying to hit the enemy with no success.
Skirhisk and his warriors were already fighting kroxigor and two skinks; one of them was really strong and big. That must be their leader, thought Skirhisk. Just after he thought that, the strong skink attacked him.
The other group was in a very bad situation. No one has thought about the treasures now, all of them wanted to survive. One of the scouts was wounded so badly that he couldn't fight anymore. Only Fuzz, one of the beast handlers, was successful doing the same to one of the skinks.
Skirhisk started to fear. The ratogre was hit so unfortunately that he wasn't fit to fight anymore. Without that beast we're nothing, thought the leader, but he managed to stay, although he really wanted to run away from this strange place and those filthy lizards.
Fuzz and the last of the scouts were still in the battle. The lizardmen were too many, but they still didn't hurt them.
Skirhisk was really glad. Kroxigor might have defeated the rat ogre, but now he also was lying on the ground with eyes closed, like he was dead. The terrible laugh of the Skaven leader made the skinks angry. But they still wanted to fight, even with so few warriors... and the Skaven...
„Fools!” cried Skirhisk, seeing the ratmen running to their camp, „what are you doing, maggots?! Fight-fight! Defeat them!”.
But the Skaven didn't hear him anymore.

Note: The objective was completed by the Skaven in the third turn, without a fight. So we decided to play the battle to the end, just for fun
We had to correct a few rules in the scenario, because it was too easy to find the treasures so quickly. Now we hope the scenario will be playable. That's why every new rule needs to be tested, even if it looks well on the beggining!
