| As i work on my group's house rules i have decided to consolidate all the various random happening charts, weather condition, and subplots into a single chart. This D66 Event Table gives varying degrees of events in all possible combinations for very complicated games with a high degree of craziness, JUST THE WAY WE LIKE IT! What follows in an excerpt of my "Playing a Game of Mordheim" document in progress. - Quote :
If anyone is eligible to pick the scenario, they may choose to do so. If the advantage only applies to the next scenario and they do not take advantage of it immediately, the bonus is lost afterward (unless the campaign calls for a special game, if which case it will apply to their next game). If more than one player is eligible to pick the scenario, a dice off determines who gains priority, if that person forfeits the option to choose it goes to the next highest roller.
Next determine whether the game will be in Mordheim, or in the surrounding wilderness. All players either agree on a setting or roll a die: on a roll of a 5+ the game follows the Empire in Flames rules, otherwise use the City of the Damned rules.
Roll on the Event Table to see what rules will effect the game. If a scenario has its own complex special rules, all players may decide to limit the amount of events used. For example: many scenarios have their own rules for inclement weather, fog, or darkness. If any contradictory results are rolled, simply ignore them or roll again as agreed by all players participating.
For random Happenings, use either the original table for battles in the city, or nemesis crown table for wilderness games. If playing underground ignore weather conditions and in some cases, subplots which do not make sense underground.
In the Perilous Phenomenon chart, the catch-all-term “terrain feature” is used to refer to a building in Mordheim, forest section in EiF, or room underground. This table can be used in any game in or around the city.
If the event table indicates that there will be multiple random happenings or perilous phenomenon, there may be up to the number of warbands present at the start of the game. Once a player has resolved the event they no longer roll at the start of their turn, but the other players will. Unlimited events are just that!
Creatures rolled on the Random Happening table have been driven so mad by the horrors of Mordheim that they will fight any warband and cannot be allied with. Creatures discovered on result 11-15 on the Perilous Phenomenon table can be allied with as explained in the Bestiary.
Event Table 11 weather, subplot, unlimited random happenings 12 weather, unlimited random happenings 13 weather, subplot, random happening 14 weather, random happening 15 weather, multiple random happenings 16 eerily quiet (no events but all models are unnerved by the dead silence and are at -1 LD)
21 subplot, unlimited random happenings 22 subplot, multiple random happenings 23 subplot, random happening 24 subplot, weather 25 multiple random happenings 26 random happening and perilous phenomenon 31 unlimited random happenings 32 multiple random happenings 33 weather 34 subplot 35 random happening 36 random happening 41 perilous phenomenon 42 perilous phenomenon 43 subplot 44 weather 45 multiple perilous phenomenon 46 unlimited perilous phenomenon 51 perilous phenomenon and random happening 52 multiple perilous phenomenon 53 subplot, weather 54 subplot, multiple perilous phenomenon 55 subplot, perilous phenomenon 56 subplot, unlimited perilous phenomenon 61 eerily quiet (no events but all models are unnerved by the dead silence and are at -1 LD) 62 weather, multiple perilous phenomenon 63 weather, perilous phenomenon 64 weather, subplot, perilous phenomenon 65 weather, unlimited perilous phenomenon 66 weather, subplot, unlimited perilous phenomenon
Thoughts suggestions? Also I am altering the Perilous Phenomenon and Monster Tables to fit the fluff of a more traditional City of the Damned campaign, the finished result will be released with Cianty and Warekin's blessing for all to adopt!

| Ha! that is an insane amount of random, perilous and nasty events! love that! - though, with such great chances of weather effects (also featured in the random happenings) doesn't the game get too obstructed? - I'm a huge fan of the random events playing out (and was greatly dissapointed to find there was no standard list for the EiF settings) but dislike the way the weather affects so much of the game and stats.... so usually we tend to have weather very seldom, and only in locations where it would really make sense... What's your take on that? | |

| I don't mind weather effects when they vary and don't occur in every game. We play in Lustria, Khemri and Sartosa. Each setting has its own weather table that is in effect for most games, but there are enough clear days on the random chart that the weather doesn't necessarily dominate. That said my skinks have probably stabbed more enemies than they have shot. I can't seem to hit the broadside of a Stegadon let alone a ghoul, rain or shine. | |

| Pathfinder - I like the idea, but I think it's a little too complex. May I suggest you make it a simple 1D6?:
1- Random Happening 2 - Weather 3 - Subplots 4 - Perilous Phenomenon 5 - Eerily Quiet (Alt - roll for Darkness? See Sylvania) 6 - Roll Twice on this list. If 6 is rolled again, roll once more for a maximum of 3 events.
Also, rather than making a universal list for every location, it makes sense to have one for each location: a City of Mordheim Events Table, a EiF, anAraby Lustria, etc. Some of the Random Happenings from the City of the Damned don't work in some other locations. Just my opinion.

Just my opinion. I don't think that's the point of this post. Seems pretty City of the Damned oriented to me. Missed the Perilous Phenomenon, I'll have to look those up.

| Have not played with too much weather, this table will be the first draft, maybe weather does feature too prominently, but i have made all possible combination i could fit into a d66 table in a symmetrical manner.
It is focused on City of the Damned as the final paragraph states. A while ago i posted a new random happening, the Bear Hunter, which is the kind of thing i will be replacing several BtB specific results on the Perilous Phenomenon chart with.
The house rule we have played up until this point has been multiple random happenings, as per the result on the table. I wanted to incorporate other events as well in varying degrees of complexity and numbers for a maximum chance of crazy interactions and fiddly event handling. We enjoy this level of detail and randomness in our games, but it is certainly not for everyone!
edit: i am concerned about the subplots getting stale fast. Several of those are weather events, maybe i will replace them. It is only a 3d6 table so the average rolls around 10.5 at the top of the bell curve i predict will become annoying!

| how about you use a table with 2-4d6 instead a d66. This way you have different possibilities.
example: 2d6: 2 -unlimited Random happening 3- suplot,multiple random Happenings 4 - multiple random Happenings 5 - weather 6 - random happenings 7 - nothing special 8 - perilous phenomenon 9 - subplot 10 - multiple perilous phenomenon 11- weather multiple perilous phenomenon 12-unlimited perilous phenomenon
you have often normal games, but every now and then you get a nasty day for you warband.

| When our playgroup talked about doing something like this, we started leaning towards making the frequency and harshness of random events dependant on which scenario is played. So the scenarios with higher potential rewards would take place further into the city, and therefore more chaotic weirdness would be going on. | |
