| Thank you everyone!
Sorry I have not posted more photos yet, as I have taken ill.
@mrtn: The rocks are made out of foam and joint compound. I started by roughing out the basic rock shapes out of foam, keeping the rocks about 20% smaller than the final size. I then coated the rocks in about an inch of joint compound, and waited 10 years for it to dry. You want to lay the compound on thick, because it will crack as it dries adding to the rock texture.
Once the compound was dry I scrubbed the 'sides' of the rocks with a stiff wire brush to add the strata, and I mean SCRUB! You really want the joint compound to be thick if you want some depth in the texture. I used a spray bottle with some water if the compound proved too hard. After the strata was finished I ran the wire brush over the other surfaces of the rock to rough it up a bit.
I then arranged the rocks into formations and glued them to a base.
More terrain to come...

| Greatness! Those rocks are lovely, and I'd love to make some. Could I use Filler/spackle instead of joint compund do you think? I'm thinking yes... Theo | |

| I know I've been away for some time... life has kicked me right in the Jacobs. But I have been furiously working on terrain for Buckeye Battles. Here are some some WIP pics, and boy do I have a lot of painting to do in the next two nights. eek! So, here we go... First up is the Idol of Gork, or as I'm calling it "Castle Gorkskull" As you can see the thing is massive. Right now the surface texture of the rock is not popping out because it is a flat color. just give me an hour... Next is a Magic Circle. Each of the eight outer standing stones has one of the runes of the winds of magic carved into its surface. I will have detailed photos of each rune later. And now the Blood Forest I will be pouring some resin later tonig... I mean morning to give the forest a more marsh/swamp like feel. Now to paint till I go blind! | |

| FANTASTIC STUFF! All the pieces are BEAUTIFULLY crafted & WONDERFULLY detailed. Since I'm currently doing some SPOOKY woods of my own, your eerie forest pieces have a speciall appeal to moi. All EXCEPTIONALLY WELL DONE! - ChemicalAgent wrote:

Don't count on it...I'm just as crazy now as when I first got into this madness almost 50 years ago. Actually insanity is hereditary...you get it from your children.

| The forest is wonderfull--lots of spooky woods going on at the moment, must be something in the air. Loving the idol of Mork or possibly Gork as well. I've never had an itch to visit Buckeye Battles but now... So do you usually do their terrain? Do they sell it? Some of the locals were telling me about this great terrain they bought from a tournament and they go to Buckeye Battles. Or used to. Hmmm. | |

| Ok for when your sanity has been regained!
The rocks how did you make them and how did you paint them I love the color!
The trees are those real branches or did you make them? If you did make them would you care to share more on it?
This is some very well done stuff!
