| http://amzn.to/bvNrz6So, being a super huge fan of the Civilization series I am most likely going to be ordering this anyway (along with a second, digital copy ) but I thought it was pretty awesome that they are bundling in Reaper Minis with the special edition. I'm very curious as to the sizing on this and whether I could potentially use them for some games... They do look like pretty cool minis and it's nice to see them done by an actual miniatures company. Of course, now that I post this I am reminded that I have a special edition mini from the Warhammer Online special edition that's still in it's blister. | |

| Always ready to answer questions from Fellow Forumites EVEN when I might not actually know the answer, here is a photo with a size comparison from the Reaper News blurb: I'd say they were about 15mm. | |

| Well then... thanks Deaf! A bit smaller than I was hoping for. Oh well, still very cool! They are nice looking minis. | |

| Did not like Civ4 at all, hope Civ5 is better! For me Civ3 is the ultimate so far. 1 & 2 were completely awesome as well of course. | |

Really, you liked Civ3 best? I don't think I've ever heard anyone say that.

| Any idea what Civ5 will be like at all? I'm not very good at finding stuff out online, and only recently (like a week ago!) heard that it was even coming! | |

Well, for one thing they are switching from squares to hexes! I'm actually kind of excited about that. Religion has been removed. There's a new interface. Combat has changed drastically. You can no longer have more than one unit in a square, so you'll have to plan your attacks out more carefully rather than "Mass 100 troops in this square... attack!" Combat will not be a "go until someone dies" thing. You can attack and both units might live but take damage. They've added city-states... which are somewhere between the basic tribes you used to find and a full civilization. You can trade with them, conquer them, or ally with them but they are not a full civilization. They've re-done the civics now so you can customize all of your social policies individually. You can choose from a few different aspects to create your own thing instead of just plain switching from Monarchy to Democracy or something. A lot more control over your government. | That all sounds awesome! The main thing I hated about 4 though was tailoring units, I hope that's gone. It's about whole civilisations for Christ's sake, not tiny units. They are fodder to be stacked up and sent to destory everyone else.... except not any more. Sounds interesting without stacking though, and hexes..? Tactic-tastic! I want the advisors from 2 back, they were fun, especially when you hit the advice button loads 'Sire-Sire-Sire-S-S-S-S-S-Sire-S-S-Sire..' hours of entertainment. City states sound awesome. I hope there is (though I doubt it) the possibility for civil war. Maybe Cities revolting and becoming independant? Or remember when capturing an enemies capital first meant they split into 2 civs?? Civil war and usurpers are common to...well most or all big civilisations, and thus should be included IMO.

| Got mine in the mail yesterday. The game is amazing!
The minis actually look a lot larger than 15mm. I haven't put them up against my other minis yet, but they look almost comparable in size.
