Scratch-built Gallows

Recently I took a break from painting my lot of Tabletop World buildings to scratch-build a gallows scenery piece.

I got a brief glimpse of this little treasure from the D.A. email...a TRUE WORK of ART! Rather brings out the poet in we of tenuous hold on reality.

Although, personally I'd disarm those fellows before trying to hang them...

Looks great, this should be a real nice looking piece once painted up!

The drawn woodgrain looks great.

Have you tried to use a wire brush to scratch in wood grains vs. drawing them in?

Looks like a great place to hang out. Great detail. I really like the functional stairs. What type of cord did you use for the nooses?

@Hornet Rat: I actually didn't draw any grain in the wooden sticks. They have great natural strucutre that I like. I only used the pencil lines to indicate which side is meant to be visible when gluing them together (because I filed the edges of the strips but on one side).

@Archer: It is some standard cord I originall bought for the rigging of my ships and now I have plenty left over. It's nothing special really and you should easily be able to find something similar.

Amazing I got to say, this will be excellent inspiring material for the near future (hopefully) and I'm jealous... >_<

really nice! a good way to dispose of three bad guys at a time:)

only thing i dont like is the crossbeams on the posts. they seem uneccesary as they are driven into the ground.

have you come up with a scenario in which to use this?

Sure! I already played a rescue scenario with the gallows and it was cool.

While cross bracing on a real structure may not be necessary, cross bracing a balsa model is always a good idea.

A rescue scenario, that does sound like fun.

theese are the beams i dont like. otherwise its really nice. i especially like the stairs, the grain and the pitfalls. im quite jealous of your gameming, ive only played onece and got beaten, hard:)

Thats crazy! the dark color has a great feel!

The dark stained wood gives the effect of a structure that has become a permanent fixture in the community...possibly an entertainment venue . VERY WELL DONE!

This looks great painted. It doesn't look like you mounted it to your board. Is it fairly stable / sturdy without being mounted?

It doesn't. It has to do with Gierburg and pirates - although the scenario could certainly be abused for any game.

Yes, it actually is quite sturdy. The sticks/beams were glued with super glue gel and it is all very solid. I wouldn't try sitting on it though.
