| So I am making up a Beastman Warband, and really dont like the Shaman figures that GW puts out. Without getting into much detail, they just do not fit the bill for me. Anyway, I could of course try to modify or model my own, but I am looking for the easy answer. Anyone have any suggestions. I took a look at some Hordes figures, but nothing quite right. And the reaper line also doesn't seem to have any that fit. | |

| Have you already checked out what Crocodile Games has to offer? If not, they might be the answer. | |

| I love this Heresy model. I know its completely different and doesn't necessarily fit into the GW model range but the fluff does seem to give it some currency. I've ordered one, and I'll maybe paint it someday. Cheers Andy EDIT: OOPS seems to be a problem with my link Now fixed! | |

| I think the biggest problem is that the current shamans are extremely outdated in sculpting quality. To help get mine up to par I chopped his face off and replaced it with a gor's head, swapped the skull on the end of his staff, and switched his weapon. The conversions were all pretty quick and easy. Just my take on it, or course. | |

| I'm not sure what I think of the new beastmen. Very cartoonish and almost caricatures. I especially dislike the Mordheim Beastman warband, the new minotaurs and the razorgor. Saying that the Gor/Bestigor plastics are quite nice although I'm not sure of the paint job. Still undecided on the Ungors.
The plastic kits seem to have alot more choice but seem quite unreasonably priced... but hey I suppose that this was always GWs way!

| Yeah the shaman model is a bit outdated, I have thought about doing a conversion, but the base of the model is one that I really dont like. As for Malagar the Dark Omen, I also like the figure, but dont like the $20 price tag he comes with. The new plastics Bestigors are actually pretty nice, I wasn't crazy about the Minotaurs that I saw in WhiteDwarf, but like you said. They just had a really bad paintjob. I saw one in person this weekend, and it didn't look half bad. Looks like he is on steroids, but not half bad. I found a fairly decent reaper figure I like for my Minotaur. I actually did PM the guy that Mithras mentioned, his fan based sculpt is pretty nice. It might actually end up costing more than I would pay for Malagar, but at least it looks original | |

| So apparently there is a GW Shaman that I over looked, and he doesn't look half bad. The only problem is that he ONLY comes in the Mordheim Beastman box! I remember that GW has stopped allowing bits orders for its models. I called GW today to confirm, and it is true. They no longer allow for ordering of single figures or bits. (This sucks IMHO) especially for people that like to convert stuffs. So really the only choice you have is to trade for it, or go to a GW convention where they often have bits for sale. .. This is the figure I am talking about.

| Héhé it's the only GW Shaman I like I have bought the entire set and I started painting the shaman today and hope to finish tomorrow! But now I've got an entire set of Beastmen which really don't turn me on. Somebody interested in These models? They're unpainted and new in box, PM me! (just remember that the Shaman is out) | |

| Well thought I would give my hand at a conversion after a very LONG absence from figure converting. I really like the concept art for the Bray Shaman, and used that as my basis. I haven't really picked up any GS in close to 6 years? Looks like I am a bit rusty with the stuff. I spent about an hour on this last night. The position of the right hand isn't quite right, I might try to adjust it and rotate the palm down more. The hood gave me a little bit of trouble. I was going for more of a cultist look than a cowl. I am not too happy with that part. It actually looks better in person and from the side, and It looks really good in low light!! haha Anyway here are some pictures of my WIP. No details have been added at this point, only positioning and clothing. I am considering scraping this one and starting again. Any comments, suggestions, critiques, help ..all greatly desired and appreciated. | |

| Rusty or not I think that's an EXCELLENT conversion job...it rather brings the concept sketch to life. Keep up the FINE WORK! | |

I wasn't actually talking about Malagar. My outdated comment was in regards to the other shaman. Malagar looks great but for $20 it seems a bit expensive to me I realised that. Yeah, I guess it is a bit pricey, one could check out ebay, or so but your conversion looks quite nice. Keep it up. | |
