| We have moved our "Luncheim" games in the Mill upstairs to a smaller, cheaper and dryer room. so we played a last game in our old venue last night - as a fond fair-well to the old place because we won't be able to use the big sea-green carpeted floor again. We used the General's Compendium ship rules, modified by our our "Yarrpocalypse" house rules. http://www.flameon.co.uk/sartosa4/Yarrpocalypse.pdfOn to the Nautical Nonsense! The Set-UpOn hearing a rumour from a sinking Bretonnian trader the Ironfang Pirate Fleet formed a shaky alliance with the aim of ambushing Le Sanglier. Special RulesThe Pirates suffer from Animosity on a grand scale! At the start of every game-turn each ship must roll a D6, on a "1" the ship moves and fights in the Bretonnian turn and must move towards, fire at and if possible board another ship in the pirate fleet that hasn't failed an Animosity test! In effect they change sides for one turn! DeploymentAll ships had to be at least 2 feet from the "centre line". The proud (and massive) Bretonnian War Galley Le Sanglier (zelophahad) The Ironfangs and their allies: The Eye of Gork/Mork (Davespaceman) The Noooma (Frog) The Hogwasha and the Red Cutter (WarbossKurgan) Da Jaw (Godfather Viktor)

| The Hogwasha catches up with Da Jaw both ships fire at the enemy. The Bretonnian Sorceress casts the Lore of Oceans spell Well of Destruction and it all starts to go wrong for the pirates! To make matters worse the whole fleet (apart from the Eye of Mork/Gork and the Red Cutter fail their animosity tests!! The Dark Elves fire through the gap between Hogwasha and Da Jaw at the Eye of Mork/Gork while the rest of the fleet head towards each other! Smack in the middle of the rapidly clumping pirate flotilla a whirlpool starts spiralling the green seas. Even the winds start blowing towards the maelstrom and the fleet is dragged together. Da Jaw fires it's Spear Chukka and shish-kebabs four Hogwashas! Timbers grind together, rigging becomes entangled and the ships become locked together! Taking advantage of the chaos the RAF land on the prow of Da Jaw and attack! A Troll, the ship's Kaptain (a Black Orc Warboss!) some Black Orc "marines" rush to defend the fore-deck. The ships teeter on the brink of the abyss! The Red Cutter uses it's speed and agility to escape the doom the others seem to be heading towards. | |

| Epic! Playing on the floor is surely the only way to play with such massive ships. Very impressive... | |

Hopefully not too much! There will be more naval battles from Flame On in the future, there just can't be any more at the Mill. There are three other possible venues for large engagements near-by.

| WOOT! Yarr matey that be fine!
Thankfully WbK sent me a PM alerting me to the coming battle. Great stuff. Lovely ships. Kudos to Frog on his new ship.
The spell was pretty effective. Are the rules for that in "Yarrpocalypse"?

| Absolutely fantastic!!! It sounds like you play in the spirit of the game as much as to win and therefore thoroughly immerse yourselves in animosity when it happens. I noticed this in previous naval battles of yours but never mentioned it - I love the way that you utilise flying units to compliment the naval units. Yes the spells are awesome also. Are the orks ever able to call down the watery hand of gork/mork at all? | |

| @the Mill--I never realized your group rented that space. (Or am I misinterpreting?) I can barely get the ladz there on a Thursday. If we had rent issues that would be the end! | |

We don't rent it ourselves, Zelophahad's church rent it and they kindly allow us to use it for gaming. The church has moved upstairs... so Luncheim has moved upstairs too.

The spell was pretty effective. Are the rules for that in "Yarrpocalypse"? there is a full lore in the YP rules. - RationalLemming wrote:

The lore of the ocean is just an extra spell lore that all spellcasters can use in place of standard spells. I always found mistress of the marsh a handy spell to slow enemy ships down.

| Totally missed the lore and magic items in YP. I was into the ship diagrams and lists of armament. GUNS!
The lore and magic items are pretty nice as well. Excellent work.

| I've just started researching Sartosa. I went to the http://sites.google.com/site/styroheim/sartosa, but was hoping for a little guidance. Are the warbands listed there the only Sartosa warbands? If not, where do I find them? I'm particularly interested in finding the rules for the Orcs I saw pictured here. | |

| I believe Sartosa can have any of the other warbands you can fit fluff-wise into it. Orcs, Dwarfs, Human Mercenaries etc. But our great and poweful (and manly) Styrofoam King can answer best! | |

| The orcs pictured on this thread are playing a Warhammer scale naval battle. The Flame On gents also play Mordheim games set on the Island of Sartosa which can be found on numerous threads by WarbossKurgan. The warbands on the Sartosa site are the 'Sartosa' campaign setting's warbands. StyrofoamKing also has a list of recommended warbands that may use Pirate rules in a Sartosa setting. Da Mob is on the list and is a right fun warband to run. | |
