| Here is the promised story....27 Jan 2010THE DIN OF CONFLICT IS AGAIN HEARD IN MORDHEIM!!The streets of Mordheim had been strangely quiet. Count Greyhoff’s spies and informers had not sent in any reports for nearly a week. Then suddenly, one ran in with an excited rumor that a building with a concealed cellar containing a treasure chest had been located. The exact location was not known but it was near the Temple of Sigmar which sat next to a drainage ditch that serviced the area. The Count quickly readied his men spurred on by the added report that a rival human warband was also aware of the treasure’s presence and was already heading in to claim the prize. The Mercenaries entered the area first positioning three marksmen on the second level of a ruined house with the remaining members of the warband on the opposite side of the ditch facing the temple. Count Greyhoff immediately realized that he had both numbers and close access to possible locations in his favor so he dispatched Drool and the new dreg Shorty with seven zombies to search the three building on the far bank opposite the temple. This would leave himself, Aste the necromancer, the dreg Reach and the remaining zombies to search the Temple of Sigmar. Bulldog's Sacred Company takes up positions... Greyhoff's Night Raiders move in along the ditch... The slowness of the zombies did not prevent Greyhoff from acting first by sending his zombies around the corner of the temple to threaten the humans approach while he and Aste entered the temple’s rear entrance with Reach in the lead. Meanwhile Drool and Shorty approached the nearest building with one group of zombies to their left, moving along the road paralleling the ditch, and another group to their right. The mercenaries were the first to search a building but the count could tell by their subdued reactions that the treasure had not been located. The remaining marksmen took up elevated positions to provide cover while their leader and his entourage approached the temple’s main entrance from the opposite side. Reach leads the way into the temple....Shorty and Drool looking for goodies.... The Mercenarys approach...The count, Aste and Reach quickly searched the temple’s first floor as soon as they entered and came up empty. They then took up positions to defend while Drool and Shorty completed their search. The first two building contained nothing of value so this left only the Roadhouse across the street or the basement of the temple itself that would contain their greedy goal. The search comes up empty... Another fruitless search... The mercenarys arrive...The count defended deep in the shadows of the temple to remain protected from the sting of the mercenary’s handguns however a sharp eyed marksman spied the undead Lord and answered with two shots through the main entrance which slammed the count to the ground. Seeing their comrade’s accomplishment, the marksmen on the other side of the ditch decide to take aim on the approaching zombies and put one down. Meanwhile Drool and Shorty split up to search the roadhouse. Drool came up empty in the larger section but Shorty hit pay dirt in the smaller corner room. The new guy has now proved his worth.Spread out!! Here they come... Throught the blurr and shadows movent is seen... and rewarded!! Another long range victim... SUCCESS!!! I FOUND IT! As soon as the count regained his feet and with the treasure located he gave the signal for all his forces to withdraw. Drool and Shorty secure the chest, place the zombies to cover their route and move out. Drool and Shorty prepare to move with their prize...Zombies head for home... Can't wait to get this back to camp!!!!! Hey brainless! cover the rear!At the same time the mercenaries massed near the temple entrance to assault the undead occupants. Sensing his master’s peril, Reach positioned himself in front of the count as he and Aste headed out the door. This move was immediately rewarded with the attention of three of the mercenary swordsmen which put the dreg on the ground rethinking the value of his action. The mercenarys mass for an attack as the undead withdraw out the door... (yes that IS a one armed swordsman!)The dreg Reach, sheilds his master... and is promptly rewarded!! Even though the undead leader and his necromancer were able to get out the door due to the sacrifice of the dreg, the mercenary captain caught them before they reached the bottom of the stairs leaving the count unmoving and the necromancer attempting to get as many zombies as possible between him and the blade swinging captain. This initiated a battle at the foot of the stairs that lasted until Drool and Shorty accomplished getting the treasure safely out of the area.Count Greyhoff is caught going down the stairs by Captain Bulldog landing at the feet of the necromancer. With their leader down the battle still rages on! The treasure is safe!!!Afterwards Count Greyhoff and his dreg Reach fully recovere from their wounds and are able to enjoy the spoils of the raid. The count now thought it prudent, after the near demise of Reach, that the warband was wealthy enough to hire the services of an Ogre bodyguard to act in such a role. | |

| Picture story for the below battle...[b]Battle under the Wolf's Moon....
Who: Skitter's Gang (163) vs Warsong's Hired Help (115) What happened... 1. Scenario played: OCCUPY 2. Winner: Skitter 3. # shards collected Skitter 5 shards Warsong 4 shards 4. Any underdog bonus: NO (3 points shy!!!) 5. Warband rating after the battle: Skitter - 182 Bulldog- 123 When it happened: 29 Jan 10
29 Jan 2010 BATTLE UNDER THE WOLF'S MOON!!Hearing of the success of a rival undead warband, Skitter though it time to take the gang for another raid into Mordheim. Confident that there are places in Mordheim where the buildings contain many shards of wyrdstone but also cautious knowing there are other warbands attempting the same. He would only need to get there first and then hold onto them...Skitter's Gang ready for action...
Warsong's Hired Help is on the way...
Up from the sewers the gang deploys in a close pack but ready for a double envelopment.
The Middenheimers deploy across a broad front...
After seeing the mecenarys move, rats scurry for the nearest buildings.
Warsong knowing he can not get to the building across the street before the quick and agile rats, decides to defend one of the larger buildings and use it as a base for a future advance.
While remaining under cover from the humans shooters, Skitter sends his expendable rats to stir things up and see how the men will react.
Warsong prepares to defend both entrances. Meanwhile the Mercenary Captain sends his Dwarf Troll Slayer with some extra muscle to secure a smaller building across the courtyard. Skitter quickly reinforces the rat pack nearby and moves to encircle the humans.
The Dwarf Troll Slayer eager for battle charges first, even against growing opposition!!!
Against the huge rat creatures his charge is furious!!!
A giant rat is brought, down but Skitter and Nool waiting at hand join the fray!
Jabbing of spear, swinging of blades and biting of teeth engulf all participants...
But Skitter and Nool put the Dwarf in his place!!
While waiting for Skitters return, Hsorn almost loses his nose to a sharpshooters crossbow bolt. That will teach him to remain well hidden from the long arm reach of human ballistics!
All attention now turns to the last remaining spearman...
And with this final blow Warsong decides his warband has had enough for the day.
The buildings contested for were truly worth the risk, yielding 5 shards of warpstone that his master Naszuss would be happy to receive and costing only a single giant rat. As if this is not enough to delight Skitter, he also meets an old companion that owes him a debt and agrees to join him on his next trip into Mordheim to make restitution. | |

| Great reposrt, exciting! Though I gotta ask, that gre-rubbery mat you are using, what is it? I am making some terrain for my STALKER setting and would love to get my hands on a mat like that, it looks just like some industry floor I could use for both outdoor AND indoor settings |

| Glad you are enjoying it. Makes the effort worth while. The "mat" is actually cut from a 4' x8' sheet of hardboard. The same as they make peg-board from. Some types are smooth on both side and some have the texture so the glue will have something to attach to. I use a black base-coat then highlight with brown and grey dry-brushed. You will be able to see this better when I am ready to reveal the lower below street-level section of the boards. I will do this in the terrain section of the forum. But that is for another day... | |
