No problem! There are some great "new news" again, by the way! Our friends at Chaos Dwarfs Online just released Episode 3 of the Chaos Dwarf Radio. For the Mordheimers out there, they have a lot of talk about the BTB Chaos Dwarf list as well as a 20-minute-interview with my dear co-developer Stu Cresswell (known as 'Werekin'), so you might like to check that out!

Cool this is great... but lol a #0 , I have not had the time to read it yet, but it looks great. I dont know if you want feedback allready, but here it is, im at work and bored You allready know what i think of the skills options for the condemned, dont know if you saw my post in the other topic, where we talked about it, but my thinking is maby he dont need one more skill list, but just 1-2 skills more from the special list. Maby even a condemned only skill, somthing like a skill letting him re-roll 1 stat pr. game. And looking at the Black Dwarf, the bullcentaur got speed skills, why ?? Personaly it dont think it fits him very well, yes he got M 8 and sprint fits him ok. But i dont think letting him get Leap and Scale Sheer Surface, fits the fluff very well. (i dont think it fits the Centigor from the beastmen well eather) And the second thing is I/you/people can get a LGT dwarf with Shooting/Speed. I really dont want to see a dwarf sprint 9" and then leaping 6" on to the 1st floor of a building. My point is, having M 8 dont should not automatily give you speed skills, i just dont see the fluff there. But the no missile weapons is right on the spot, my first plan was to give him a blunderbuzz, but that would be so wrong. I know all this is a little late to change stuff, with it all comming out soon, but hope you can use it anyway. -Skavenslayer

The Condemned does have access to Speed skills now. Not because of lack of development for him during campaigns but most importantly they excellently support the theme of the Hung tribe. I'm sure you can figure out why on own. - Skavenslayer wrote:

Thanks for pointing this out! Actually this is a mistake that somehow slipped our attention. However, the issue was recently raised at the Poole campaign where they had a sprinting Bull Centaur. This has been corrected now. Thanks for your thoughts and ideas, Jonas!

re-roll results on the Out of Control chart. Note that the second result must be accepted even if it is worse. ok. now im just messing with you again its really great... P.s. im glad the condemed got speed skills and the bull centaur lost them, very good call. i have to agree speed for the condemed+hung is good, i dont know if he is allowed to ride a horse, rule wise (i think he is) but i dont like the idea, and would probely not put him on one, speed skills will help there. ok, that went a little fast, hope it makes sense. -Skavenslayer

| Ooooooh nooo! What a stupid typo!! Well, at least it's a funny one.. I guess.. The Condemned isn't meant to ride any mounts just as he isn't supposed to use any miscellaneous equipment. I just checked the rules and this seems to be not clear currently. I'll fix that. Thanks for the kind feedback, guys! | |

He is not allowed/ment to have any equipment ?? so no Rabbit Foot, Lucky Charm and Rope & Hook ?? I diddent know that, i was thinking it was only weapon and armor he was not allowed to have. One more thing, in the 'Sample warband' on the Border Town Burning homepage the condemend got a warhorse, this is the reason why i throught he was allowed to ride. maby try to fix that to. Other that really great stuff, the Merchant Caravan, you change the names on some of the heros/henchmen to make them eather empire knights or cathyan rohans... this is a really great change, i was thinking: "damn.. not one more warband that require a lot of conversion" not i can use any model or convert, great stuff -Skavenslayer

Because of his shifting form they would merge with his body. It seems this is one of the things we agreed upon in our group but never wrote it down. - Skavenslayer wrote:

Definately will. Again, thanks! The sample lists are like 2 years old I think. I'll see if I find the time to make new ones. - Skavenslayer wrote:

This was Stu's idea. He suggested that the warband could as well have a Bretonnian Knight on foot (or on horse) or whatever to accompany and guard the wagon. This allows for even more personalisation without depriving you of the possibility to take a Cathayan knight if you wanted to. It's the better way I think.

| I downloaded the first installment of BTB yesterday and i am really impressed, great work . If you keep up that level of quality i will surely try to talk my gaming group into giving it a go. So far i´ve seen the Caos Marauders and Chaos Dwarf warbands and your first installment with the Merchant Caravan in it. My first impression of (and some questions about) the Caravan: Very nice concept, it fits into the silk road fluff perfectly, but compared to your other warbands (and those in "normal" Mordheim) they look really weak. They got 2 Heroes with weak statlines (merchant and apprentice), two good heroes (the knights) and a mage that will be effective or nearly useless depending on the spell he gets. You can´t use your weak heroes for missile support because the only allowed ranged weapons are pistols. The henchman are pretty standard, good but expensive marksmen (only crossbows as weapons) and standard to good close combat guys. The big drawback here seems to be the maximum warband size of 12 and the lack of cheap "meat shields". The skills and rules for trading are looking good and should give the warband additional income after some games. The trading cart effectively costs you 80 and is a liability for the first games until you accumulate rare items to use its special rules. In summary: A small warband that is weak in ranged combat, o.k. but not outstanding in close combat and should generate additional money after 3 to 5 games (once the merchant gets some skills). Winning the early games should be quite a challenge. It is my fear that most players will give them up (or choose some other warband) before they get into the money-making phase and can afford good hired swords to boost them. So what am i missing? How did your playtesting with the merchant caravan go & what are the reasons for its designed weaknesses? | |

| First off, I'm glad that you seem to like the project so far. Now on to your comments:
Actually the warband has access to top quality hirelings that are superior to other human warbands. Granted, the Merchant is not strong (how could he?), neither is his Apprentice. Compare that to the 2 Youngbloods other warbands have. The Knights Vanguards are superior to normal human Champions and the Magician has much potential because he's a Hero and not a lowely Hired Sword like the Warlock Hired Sword that you can normally have. If you manage to have him learn the Silver Arrows of Arha spell then he just needs the Sorcery and Mind Focus skill - you'll never need him to learn anything else (except BS) as he then is as good as he could be. The Sword of Rezhebel spell is another viable route to develop your Magician. The argument that a bad spell makes a Wizard a weak model is certainly true for every warband so it's nothing special here.
For the henchmen, the (Tilean) Marksmen are clearly noteworthy. Normally exclusive to Reiklanders these BS 4 snipers are a huge advantage. Note that you can shoot a crossbow from a moving Wagon since the warrior himself doesn't move. The Blackguards are strong close combatants with their Strongman skill and Strength 5 warriors can be just what you need versus Beastmen and Orcs. They are serves as perfect support troops for your other warriors. Maybe the Sell-swords are what you're looking for when you ask for "meat shields". However, access to a "meat shield" type of Warrior is nothing mandatory for warbands.. Maybe you want to buy some Wardogs (from the Mordheim core rulebook) for your Heroes?
All in all the warband does have access to very strong models which - without the mandatory Trade Wagon - would make for an unbalanced overpowered warband. However, since they have to maintain and protect the wagon their numbers are smaller than usual, ie. lower quantity and higher quality. The Tade Wagon can be a huge liability but it can be useful at times too.
In the games we had there were both weak caravans who had to struggle to survive as well as a strong caravan with a powerful Magician. Over at the BTB Preview Campaign at the GW Poole store the Caravan player's doing okay I hear.
