| We vote yes yes. Supposed to be finishing my witch hunters but it's more fun to get distracted. No wonder I have trouble in school Is black skaven, so dark fur on arms. I did the meat between the legs and the torso (WHICH YOU CAN'T SEE) in green stuff for a custom pose of sort of going claw over claw, but I've come to realize that it is a very closed off pose which has few pleasing points of view, but I found one! I may have overdone the highlights, or at least crushed all traces of the darker green I dry brushed on first, but I'm pretty ok with it. Simple yet effective, no? I'm also really happy with the colors of the base, the technique for which I stumbled upon in a bit of whismical artistic exploration. The only thing I'm considering is going back and dry brushing with the dark angels green agian to tone it down.

| *Snigger* Really nice looking model! I don't think you've overdone the highlights at all. | |

Man I can't believe I wrote that. It is late! There IS more than one way you can take that . ... EXCELLENT looking Rat Guy. Since subtle highlighting is THE chic thing lately, I wouldn't be to concerned about the way it turned out. AND, I too, have notice that it is MUCH MORE fun to paint what you feel like rather than what you SHOULD be working on...it explains ALL those Night Goblins & STRANGE terrain I have lurking about . VERY NICE WORK... LOVE the creative misspell.

| He looks really cool, I like the pose a lot. And the highlights are good, too. Only the fur looks a little flat currently, but perhaps it's just the light. | |

| You may be right, I was going for a very dark fur color so I only did a little dry brushing with codex gray and a bit of scorched brown but doesn't really bring out the shape of the arms. Anyone know a good way to do dark fur that still has nice highlights? | |

| You could use a very light white drybrush. | |

| I'm drying brushing with some lighter colors (codex gray, fortress gray, skull white) but I'm having trouble making the fur not look gray.
Alas subtlety isn't so much my thing, but a badab black wash seems to have helped.

| Blue is a nice highlighting color for black; if you check out someone with lusterous black hair, there's a bluishness to it. For a less lusterous look, a charcoal/greyish brown dry brush works nicely. | |

| or go with a slightly brownish tone, as it still is a ratty fellow... wont make it look to grey, and does look like highlights on the tips.. alternatively, you could just use some gloss varnish, and pretend him to be a wet sewerrate, just clambering out of the sewercanals! | |

| I'll second DeafNala in that a very dark blue can make a great highlight color for black, if you still want to give the effect of black fur. Or you can use a very dark grey, like 1:1 chaos black and codex grey. | |
