| Hi, I've been lurking on this forum for a while now and have been really impressed with a lot of the stuff on here, especialy the scenery. Earlier in the month my brother posted some of the stuff we've been making over the years so I thought I'd finally set up an account and post some of my work up. Most of the scenery we've made has actually been for "Warhammer Quest" so thats why it looks more rual than a lot of the tradional Mordheim terrain but we're trying to correct that at the moment by building some ruined buildings. The actual tower on this piece is the one from Games Workshop so I can't take complete credit for this one. Sorry the pictures aren't great, I'll try and sort that out. My computers been playing up for the last couple of weeks and my camera's recently broken but i'll update as soon as I can. I've also been converting a Bretonnian Warband which can be seen on my brothers thread but again I'll post some better pictures as soon as I can. https://boringmordheimforum.forumieren.com/painting-and-modelling-f3/jack-s-hochlanders-averlanders-t190.htm | |

| Hey Stew! Great scenery, the tower-hill looks great, I think pushing enemy models down the stairs'd be great fun...err... and the pics are very good, at least they have a better quality than mine | |

| Amazing terrain you've got there, Stew! I really like the scratchbuilt 'stairs' to the tower, top notch work mate! | |

| Amen to the above.
Great work man. That tower is a wonderful use of a base =) and a great piece all together.
How did you put those stairs together? They look absolutely amazing.
The other two houses are well done as well. I'd love to get some more pics of the big building. My only "irk" is that the small building is way top heavy, and I think should have some wooden support pillars to help the beams you have in place.
Very Nice.
And Welcome to the Forum!

| Thanks for all the comments, they mean a lot coming from fellow model makers. Ashton: The stairs were all made of balsa wood, cut into strips with a scalpel. It took ages and i'm sure there are better and more stable ways of doing it though. There are a few pins holding bits of it together but i'm really paranoid about some one kicking it. I completely agree with you about the smaller building being top heavy. It was actually one of the first bits of scenery my brother bulit. He was gonna bin it but I decided to give it a major overhaul instead by stripping it back, retiling it and painting it again. I added the stairs to the back to bulked it out a bit but you might be right about adding some beams. | |

| This is great stuff, Stew! I really like your latest unpainted building (the Farm thingy). I have one question though; where do you get your Balsa Wood? Some online store or just a local store? Cheers! | |

| Thanks again for all the comments! Pfreck: I think I just bought the balsa wood from my local model shop which annoyingly doesn't exist any more. If you buy a plank of it though it seems to last for ages so it's worth getting some if you see any. For the fence on the farm house and the posts on the ruined house I used lolly pop sticks so they were a bit more stable. Looking back i probably should have done that with the tower. | |

| Bravo Stew, Very cool stuff there; I don't think the building is top heavy at all, it fits with the slightly off center Mordheim feel wonderfully. That stairway for the Tower is an absolutely lovely piece of work, much nicer than the tower itself [not to take anything away from the tower]. Well done, amigo. | |

| i'm in the process of making stairs at the moment, and after seeing your i realise how difficult it must have been, but it looks brilliant. I like how you added the hill base, it makes sense though... why chuck a watch tower on the lowest ground in an area?
the farm is coming along really nicely, i especially like the tiles. what is your method for doing them?

| Sorry i haven't been able to update this link for a while but I started a new job doing architectural modelmaking a few months back and have been really busy. Also I haven't exactly felt like model making in the little spare time I have as you can imagine. thatirwinfella: Thanks for the comments on the stairs and farm house. Those tiles were just made from ceral packet card. If you cut them into strips about 1.5 cm's wide and then make more cuts along one edge you can stick a whole row of tiles on in one go. The trick is to get the tiles the right size though, I've got really impatient sometimes and started cutting huge tiles to speed it up a bit but they look awful. Espescially as the roof is the most obvious part to the building. I've done a lot more to the farm house and it's almost finished so i'll try and do an update soon. | |

| Outstanding work Stew, I absolutely love that corner house, looks like a museum piece or something, and the stairs up to the watch tower are exceptionally well done. I look forward to seeing moreā¦ | |
