I'm going to be starting a Skaven Warband...

I want them to look 'unique'... not the standard Mordheim box of rats. (Although I'm confident this set of conversions has been used a lot in Mordheim)

I'm taking the Plague Monks and converting them into a warband. Of course I'll have to use the arms from the Skaven Night Runners bits, to equip them with Clubs, Daggers, and Slings. I'll putty sleeves onto the Verminkin if needed, I'll see how the models look with the robed chests and bare forearms first though. I'll also make two Night Runner heroes out of the Plague Monk/Night Runner bits.

Verminkin

I plan to use this guy as my sorceror.

Sorceror

I want to use these sweet looking models as Black Skaven:

Black Skaven

Do you think it would be possibly to snip off the Flails, and convert the models so they're using halberds?

I know I want my Assassin to have weeping blades, but I have not decided on which model for him, so suggestions are welcome. I really need something that fits with the robed, cultist theme for my rats. And I need the model to look spectacular, he is the leader and I cant have him upstaged by his Black Skaven.

I'm thinking of using this Skaven Warlord model... he fits the theme, but he doesnt quite look like an 'Assassin'. Also, his armor is a tad heavy for Mordheim, but I dont think anyone would be 'too' bothered by that. I really dont like ANY of the Assassin models that I see online, except for maybe Veskit, but I dont want my Assassin to have claws!

Assassin?

I'll update this thread with pics as I work!

I quite liked this assassin. Although I'm guessing you have already seen and discounted it from your options.

I do like that one - do you think he would fit well with the other models I linked?

I want them all to have that 'Plague Monk' theme to them.

I might have to keep digging for conversion ideas - because the only thing I'm not satisfied with is the Assassin for the warband.

I've got crazy ideas for everything from the Giant Rats, to the Rat Ogre.. but I just cant settle on an ASSASSIN! Mad

Perhaps I could take Thanquol from this set

Assassin

Cut the staff off, and put a sword from the Plague Monk's in that hand, so he has two swords (Weeping Blades).

He'd blend well with the others I think, if the conversion is possible.

So have you just considered doing a clan pestilens warband? No need for assassins at all then...

Did not even know they existed. Sad

Just double checked Mordheimer.com and tabletopgeeks.com and I still do not see anything about a Clan Pestilens warband. Regardless, I want to be able to play this as an 'Official' warband.

I'm still very interested in reading the information you have on this special warband though! bounce

TC #29, pp. 8-
One of the last Town Cryer projects. The published band suffered from poor editing (as the editor had suddenly died) but a list of corrections was published on-line through specialist games shortly after. Nice warband and fun to play, certainly no more prone to problems than the "official" Skaven.

Cheers!

I'm looking at the warband list right now.

Some good things, some bad things...

Can you tell me what the 1b grade means? The link in that thread no longer works.

After looking over the warband list thoroughly...

Cons:

-Pretty weak Special Skills... they dont really compare to the normal Skaven skills (Infiltration, Tail Fighting, etc)
-Censer is overpriced, and dangerous to use for your heroes. The unique weapons do not compare to the normal unique Skaven weapons. Warplock Pistols, Weeping Blades, Fighting Claws, etc...
-15 Max units!!? Deal breaker imo.
-Monk Initiates S2/T2/WS2.... 20gc Wtf?

Pros:

-T5 maximum stat, and T4 on Priest and Monks.

1b mean "unofficial", ie. published by GW but not declared "official". It's the same status as the Khemri and Lustria setting, Pit Fighters, Amazons, Pirates...
