- Last thing. Unlike Mordheim, the PP games are all about the fiction and the characters that the company puts out into the world. You don't name your warband. You don't come up with a leader. You choose which Warlock you want and the characters/troops to support him. They each have stat cards that come with the miniatures. And their backgrounds and trials are recorded as fluff in the rulebooks. It's a different approach than most GW stuff. And I resisted at first. But I'm okay with it now.
Ooooh, no. I don't think I could cope with that! Don't forget the Warhammer Historical games Legends of the Old West (western movie style shoot-outs) and Legends of the High Seas (pirate ship and land battles)! Both are based on the rules mechanics of the Lord of the Rings Strategy Battle Game, but with the warband and campaign system from Mordheim added!

| Hordes minis are very very good, i've recently bought most of them, yes it's a sick disease i have, and the game play is fast and furious but needs a lot of strategy, as are Helldorado minis of which i only have one set but i'm sure it wont be long before i get the rest, it's my form of retail therapy. Rackham minis did tend to be a bit finickity but the orcs were awesome and very convertable(this is the part where Cianty says lets see some photos then, and i'm working on that one so bare with me). i haven't tried the game system for Helldorado yet and the Rackham system was good and it used to be free, shame it is not supported any more. i have been informed that Warlord is a very good system with an easy to use engine that makes for a fast flowing game but as far as i know the only game that allows you to customize your minis and let them grow as you play is Mordheim | |

| Top man Cianty. And i am working on the photo thing, i think i need a better camera as none of the pics are focused properly and they are all too small and shiny, and alas i don't play any where near as much as i used to | |

| I have played SBH and it's not bad, but seems too incomplete (there are more and more suplements appearing) and quite "amateur" for paying for it, IMO. In fact I turned back to Mordheim after playing SBH. I played the old Confrontation and I did'n like it at all. I tried Legends of the Old West and it looked super-cool, fast, fun and cheap, but it is hard to find a group of players (I got some friends who love cowboys movies, but they are more into RPGs). Some models from Warmachine and Hordes are nice, but I think it is a terrible expensive game and I didn't liked it from the begining. Some time ago I found Skjaldborg, which looked quite cool (and it is free!) , but haven't tried it yet .
Now I am really into DBA, which is fast, fun, cheap and really great. It represents big battles, but the number of bases is limited to 12, so it could be considered quite an skirmish game. | Hybrid is a completely dead game now, I think, but every time I played it I thought to myself, "This is kind of like the time that X happened to me in Mordheim." I still have all the tiles and tokens and such for Hybrid, but I don't think I could distinguish the Hybrid cards from the Confrontation cards I have... Anyway, it was a cool game. MZ

| @MonsterZero i think Rackham have made a bad mistake here as Hybrid was a very good game with plenty of atmosphere and cool minis, and as for their latest line of plastic minis well the less said the better | |

I completely agree. I had a lot of drune models intending on making a Confrontation/Hybrid force but the combo of PPP and a lackluster rule-set killed all desire to do Confrontation 4th ed. I guess the good thing is I've got a ton of really cool Rackham metal minis. I also completely skipped Cadwallon as well, does anyone know if that's still supported or has it followed Hybrid into oblivion? Thanks... MZ

Hybrid was a very good game with plenty of atmosphere and cool minis, and as for their latest line of plastic minis well the less said the better I disagree about some of the latest plastics. The first releases - the Griffins - were fairly atrocious here and there, but the later stuff paints up just fine if one is inclined to do so. Have a look through my friend's blog for some prime examples. - Quote :

does anyone know if that's still supported or has it followed Hybrid into oblivion? Thanks... It's pretty much in oblivion as far as I know. The community is lambasting Rackham to release the translated text from the second game master's guidebook, if nothing else just for the awesome background material. That battle's been going on for a couple years by now though. Latest word on Cadwallon (and Hybrid) is that the team that made the Okko boardgame (including the head designer behind Hybrid if I remember correctly) has secured the rights to make a boardgame based on the whole Cadwallon thing, with rules based on Okko. I heard about that project before Rackham decided to trash all the moulds for the metal minis though.. seemed like the perfect place for the old Confr lineup to fit in.. so not sure how high on the agenda it is these days.

| @FKSN, i have a large collection of Alchemists from Rackham and when you stand the new plastics against the old metal minis they really don't compaire. i will admit that the new resin minis are very good though. As for Hybrid and Cadwalon they are both no longer supported by rackham and the Okko side may not happen for some time if at all. On the plus side the head sculptor for okko is extremely good so there may be hope for some quality minis if they do | |

| MALIFAUX is HERE: https://boringmordheimforum.forumieren.com/fantasy-wargames-f15/malifaux-released-t1649.htm . Wyrd had the GRAND unveiling at GenCon to rave reviews. Like Mordheim it involves a small number of minis [as few as 5 per side] with character/story driven games, but with a steampunk, Western, horror feel to it. The game uses a diceless card system that is probably beyond the capabilities of my feeble old mind to comprehend. AND MORE IMPORTANTLY the minis are ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!!! | |

| @Deafnala, looks cool, Enigma do some great minis, problem is some of them tend to be too tall for Mordheim, but if their past quality is anything to go by this should be a very good game, i wonder if they produce it in english though | |

Seems to me that there are far more Sci-fi themed skirmish games than fantasy. 40k skirmish? Do you mean poor little us; Death Squads? DaBank (another regular here), myself and a bunch of other people are designing a 40k-based skirmish. Inspired by Mordheim, Ncromunda and other SG games... slowly evolving into something very unique. If you are interested, get the rules at our forum at www.DeathSquadsGame.com. Note that although this is a FAN BASED effort, no need to pay us for anything (read free) for the rules, we beleive in a high quality product. It has been a year on the making (so far) and we are aiming for a clear manual (no typos!) with clear rules (simple, yet not ambiguous.) Go get the rules and support your local store!
