This is my complete Hun DBA army. They are Essex and Old Glory miniatures and it is around 30 euros or less for the whole complete army.

They came from the east.

Ardaric and his heavy cavalry Gepids, with shields taken from the romans.

They look great! Very cool!

What does DBA stand for, by the way?

Here you got an introduction article about DBA -> http://fanaticus.org/DBA/guides/whatis.html

DBA is cheap (15-40 euros for a complete army!), fast and fun. And it represents the historical warfare really good.
There is not an "official line" of figures, so you can choose among a lot of manufacturers (or mix them), which makes it cheaper.
In DBA you can play a plethora of armies from the Bronze Age to the end of the Middle Ages (Classical Era is the most popular among gamers). All the rules (including campaing rules) and all the army lists are included in a single manual which costs $9.95.
It took me away from GW's games and is very popular among Spanish wargamers. It is also widely played at the US, France and Italy too (as far as I know).

Cool. Thanks! I never heard of DBA before.

The system seems to be rather simple, which is good, but I wonder how much strategy you can apply in a 1-on-1 game with the same two armies, i.e. how differently can the same match-up turn out, depending on luck and tactics? Not that Warhammer would be very strategic once you have an army, I just wonder...

Well, each army got an Aggresivity factor which determinates who'll be the attacker (each player adds his aggresivity to a dice roll; the winner is the attacker).
In addition each army got a "homeland" that would be the battleground: the battle take place on the defender army's homeland.
The light infantry armies tend have a low aggresivity and a rough homeland: think on bactrians and mountain indians setting an ambush on heavy macedonian troops or celtic warbands lurking roman legionaires from their deep woods.

The composition of the armies favors a historical set up and movements; it is not the same commanding a light horse hunnic army or a heavy infantry viking warhost, each one got its specific tactics and its way of using the elements of the battlefield.

EXCELLENT LOOKING armies! The 15mm Lads are better detailed than most of the 30s & 54s of my historical gaming days, AND you've done a SPLENDID job bringing them to life. There are a few VERY active DBA & Tactica groups around my area with historical adversaries/non tournament style gaming in vogue, although Napoleonics is still THE game. Thanks for the post! thumbsup

Nice looking army! More skilled than I would be. I have a hard enough time with the 25-28 mm minis with my big, fat fingers. I could not imagine trying to do some 15mm.
Great work.
