| After a foray into the world of skaven and constructing a fairly decent warband thanks to night runners as a base and clan rat conversions (spear to club and dagger) I have decided that a second warband is in order and I am intrigued by dwarves.
Before starting I need miniatures I was going to get a box of the treasure hunters but I do not know what is on the sprunes I can see no missile weapons ( in any picutres on the net) except for the pistol.
Can anyone inform me if there are any handguns or crossbows in this box ??
Secondly are there any dwarven ranger miniatures ? I have seen reference to rangers in the dwarven army book and the GW website but can find no boxed set.
Thanks for any advice. | |

| If you can get a hold of the old Dwarf plastics from 6th edition they had a wealth of stuff in one box.
In 7th WHFB Rangers are a unit upgrade of warriors, Longbeards, thunderers or Quarrelers the only "ranger" thing about them is they must be armed with Great Weapons (Double Handed weapon). Thus there is no specific model for the rangers anymore except the old metal Bugman's models from 4th or 5th edition.

| There are actual Dwarf Ranger miniatures! Check out the website Stuff of Legends! Great site and I am basing my all Metal OOP Dwarf Army from it. Taken me awhile to get the buggars, but yes, they are out there. | |

| If you don't have an aversion to using non-GW minis, you might want to check out the Reaper [ www.reapermini.com ] line of Dwarfs [their spelling, not mine ]. The War Lord Range has a specific Dwarf section, but The Dark Heaven Range would require a bit of a search. These Pathfinders might fill the bill for Rangers: Good Hunting. | |

| I went browsing for you. Reaper DOES have quite a few Ranger types. This is 03371 Brock Battlebow, Dwarf Ranger from the Dark Heaven range: Cool, huh?! Or 03125 Bailey Silverbell for a Dwarf Babe Ranger: | |

| Citadel did make some really characterful (is that a word ) models. I have a few of them and they were a joy to paint. Also the ones shown aboave from Reaper are fantastic as well. | |

"Characterful" is one of the MORE annoying GW words. Along with "Mighty" it's one they over use until you're " MIGHTY" sick of their prose. AND I'm not 100% sure its a real word at all. Sorry for the off topic; that "C" word pushes my Rant Button.

| Ok, how about the older Citadel minis have a more 'actual and historical' feel that we invisioned the fantasy realm to have when we were younger. =P
Love ya Deaf. Besides, I like the older models more than the newer plastic ones.

| Agreed Drugart, the new plastics suck. And to avoid starting a new thread I'm back and ready to paint! Buying and shiny new digital camera later on this week, so I'll be able to start and show you my witch hunters, cult of the possessed, skaven, reiklanders and *gasp* shadow warriors! Thread hijack | |

| Good too see your back Blackaxe been a long time eh? Oh and we must thank all the gods of the Old World (and the Gameing Gods) for the grate DaefNala the master of all monks and warboss of all greenskins for his wisdom Ok on the topic: I think the new plastics are good if your bad at modleing and green stuffing but if meta folts your boat thats cool too and so is reaper,But in my opinun(or how ever you spell it never been good at spelling) I think gw has beter modles but it's up too you | |
