My Pirate Warband..Update 2/20/09

Thought I would start up a pirate warband as I really liked the figures. Not to mention I can build a dock section of terrain and a pirate ship! More on that later ..but for now here they are all based and primed ..I will add some WIP shots in a bit

An excellent start. Do you play Warmachine, by any chance?

I like the Warmachine models except for their guns. I liked the plastic Free Company/Mordheim pistols better.

Those are some sweet looking minis. Cant wait to see them all painted up and ready to loot and plunder.

The PP pirates are so cool! I wanted to buy some, too, but then I decided to make my own.

VERY nice selection of minis. PP makes some Ubercool stuff, AND their Pirates are among he best of the lot. I like what you're doing with your bases. The Lads should look TERRIFIC with a bit of painting, SO...get cracking, Man!

No I don't, but I really like the figures and art work. I have been thinking of checking it out though.

I got the flesh done on all the guys and I am starting in on the clothes. (I actually ended up playing a few games with them already and managed to buy a few more crew so I will be adding in some more guys) I will try to post a WIP of what I got so far.

Ah, dang. I've been seriously considering starting it up, because TONS of people play it around here. It's kind of crazy actually...last summer I couldn't find a WHFB game because everyone was playing Warmachine! I've been reading about it and it looks pretty fun.

I've never met anyone who plays Warmachine! GW pretty much has a total monopolyin the UK.

AND I thought we were JUST separated by a common language.

I can't, of course speak for the whole USA, but locally War Machine/Hordes is THE mini game. 7th Edition along with some of the "new & improved" army books killed WHFB deader than Marley's Ghost. 40K is still THE SciFi favorite, & SSG are all underground, cultist pursuits.

Hey guys, I just wanted to post a quick WIP shot update. This week has been kind of busy with not much time to paint. I got all the skin done on my guys and I am trying to add in some color now. I hope to have a few guys done by the end of the week.

Nice job! The skin is very well done. I also like the subtle stripes on the pants. Still dislike the way they do pistols but what can you do?

GOOD START! Striped pants ARE most definitely Pirate Chic. Nice choice of colors. The Lad looks to have a LOT of potential.

Sorry for the long lapse in no update, but I have been distracted and inspired by the thought of making my own Pirate Ship for my warband...

Sneak peak.. The sticks are to for visual place holders of masts ...those will not be the actual masts.





And here is an update WIP added some highlights and cleaned up some of the detail ..almost finished pic of one of my Crew ...

LOOKING GOOD! The Pirate is coming along VERY nicely; AND the Ship is going to be one FANTASTIC model. FINE PROGRESS! WELL DONE!

another range of fantastic Pirate models are made by Freebooter, who produce some of the best historical miniatures around. Rackham do a quite cool range of pirate minis (mostly Goblin), but their website's currently off line for repairs.

Yeah, those Freebooter miniatures are awesome! I have some lying around as well, but did not get around painting them yet.
