| Hello folks, Time for me to post some pictures of my first "Serious" Mordheim warband. I was quite intrigued by the Dwarf rules, but I wanted something other than Just Another Dwarf Warband. So I decided, perhaps because I'm a glutton for punishment, to do an all-female Dwarf warband. And so arose the idea for "The Iron Maidens." Here are pictures of my models. Most of them are still work-in-progress, and I noticed after taking these pictures that some of them are already starting to show some "battle damage." So I'd better post them before they get totallt messed up. First are the three female dwarves from Confrontation. I use them as a clans(wo)man henchman group, but I keep hoping they'll get a "That Lass Got Talent" result someday. [/img] | |

| Here's the next three, from the German "Tale of War" line. I'm not as happy with these three as I am with the first few. The flesh tones came out all splotchy and dirty. Then again, I suppose that could be considered accurate.... not a lot of working plumbing in Mordheim these days. [/img] [/img] [/img] | |

| Here are my two Slayers. These are from Reaper. Am still trying to figure out how to make the colors look more crisp. [/img] [/img] Or, what do you folks think... does the "dirty" look work for you? | |

| Here's the model I was using for my Engineer. It's a Hasslefree miniature, from their "Space Pirates" range. I used it for my Engineer up until she got a Toughness upgrade and i decided to get her some armor. Now I'm painting up a new figure for her. And then here is my Noble, another Reaper miniature. In case you were wondering, yes she did actually lose an eye in the last campaign! [/img] | |

| And finally, my two Thunderers. While it was hard enough to locate decent female dwarf figures, it was even harder to find dwarf females with crossbows, for some reason. [/img] This one, I tried to paint her hair as if it was prematurely turning grey. Unfortunately it came out looking like I had left it primered. [/img] | |

| So there you have it. Still definitely a work-in-progress, I have a few things I need to clean up on every model. I also have some nice scenic bases on order, so I'll be re-basing them when those come in. What do you folks think? | |

| I didn't realize that Rackham/Confrontation had any Female Dwarves ; AND they ARE BABES! The first three ARE gorgeous paint jobs; the eyes in particular are BEAUTIFUL. They are REALLY a superior piece of work. If you had posted the second group first, you would have gotten compliments on how well you had improved. Only the lovely eyes hint that they were done by the same guy. Keep plugging; you'll get your swing back, & get the Girls up to the high standard of your FANTASTIC Confontation Chicks. Addendum: you ARE the fastest post in the West. Your War Band Leader/Lady ROCKS; she's of the same high quality as the Confrontation Cuties. The Engineer [can't see her face ] & the Babe with the Salt & Pepper hair, likewise, ARE exceptioally WELL DONE!

| Great idea on the warband! The first ones were awesome and a job well done. Dont worry about the latters though, we all go through some 'painting' slumps. Just take your time and you will get your groove back. I added a female dwarf to my warband as well, a mini from reaper. Cant wait to see more of your warband and how much you improve on them as well. | |

| What a great idea! I'll echo some of the others here and say that those first three Confronation dwarves are excellent. They're wonderful minis, and the painting is crisp and characterful. Which is not to say that the rest of the band is not! The girls in the middle looked to me as if the sculpts weren't quite as crisp as the Confrontation ones, I have to say, but the Dwarf Engineer model is really nicely done (like DeafNala, I really wanted to see her face!). As for the rest, a touch up is all they'd need to be at the same high quality as the first three dwarf-girls. This is excellent work! | |

| I may be wrong, but I have the impression you "dipped" those middle models (or used tinted varnish), and that your varnish was too thick. Maybe that was the problem making them appear "dirty".
Anyhow they are good enough for tabletop wargaming, but... having seen what you really are capable of (those first models are superb), I understand you're not happy with the end result.
You can always re-touch them a little.
And make sure to thin your dipping varnish a little and eliminate excess pools from the mini.
I have that hasslefree model too and its gorgeous! But as she is turning around in a very dinamic pose her face don't show in the pic.
Your thunderes are pretty good too. Can you tell us the company that sells them?
Thanks and best wishes.

| I never dip my miniatures. I have more self-respect than that. No, it was a washing/inking experiment gone horribly wrong. i tihnk I'll re-do the skin with a nice heavy foundation paint and go from there. The Thunderers are also Reaper minis. That's been my single best source of decent-looking female Dwarves. If you want to see them all in their original form, go to the Reaper website, click on their "figure finder," and search for "female dwarf." These two (the ones in blue) are recovering from a terrible accident where my cat knocked over a cup of coffee while I was in the midst of painting them. I almost decided to strip and re-do them fron scratch, but decided instead to try touching them up. I still may just re-do them completely. Yes, for some reason the Confrontation dwarves came together for me much better than the others. That happens sometimes, one mini will "work" for me and another will not. As for the Hasslefree miniature, I completely messed up her face. It turned out much too "anime" looking. That's why I didn't do a second photo of her from the other side. So now I need to re-do the skin tones on the non-Confrontatin models and clean up the edges of the hammers on the Confrontation minis. Also once I actualy get them looking good, I'd like to make them as WYSIWYG as possible with some weapon swaps. But some of those figures lend themselves towards that more than others. | |

Everyone's getting their dwarf girl minis from reaper but me! >.0 WAKE UP YA SODS!
Like everyone else has said, a very nice warband you have here, the thunderers are a favourite of mine, though the hair on your Azrin mini is a little plain looking.

| The Reaper Gnome Babes MIGHT also work with your Girls. She's kind of cute! AND , when you can hire a Warlock this Chick MIGHT be a good "counts as" mini. Coo, huh!? | |

| Oh yeah, I've got that warlock figure too. She's listed as a "Gnome Warlock" on the Reaper website, but the Warhammer world doesn't have gnomes, so I'm going to call her as a Halfling Warlock instead. Once I can afford one, that is. And yes, an definitely re-doing some of these. The last two (with the blue outfits) need some serious work as well. | |

| Even Babe Ruth didn't hit a home run EVERYTIME he came to bat. Ink &, for that matter, acryllic washes & glazes can be tricky. When they work right, the results CAN be spectacular; at other times, they can leave you with a mini that you'd like to imbed in the wall . Doing a touchup or even a repaint CAN be a rewarding experience; if you enjoy painting, which from the quailty of your Rackham Lasses I'd say you do, it's like getting two minis to paint for the price of one. I periodically revisit old minis that are not up to current standards , strip off the old paint, & give him/her/it a new life; it's like visiting an Old Friend, although without the conversation . I'm hunting through the dark cormners of the Web searching for Short Chicks with Crossbows. I'll keep you posted as to the results. We Great Minds HAVE to stick together . KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK [or ELSE]! | |
