| I use always Vallejo paints, but I have problem with royal purple. It looks like it was there a very thick paint and water. I can make it better (by shaking) and use the paint normally, but after that, it turns to "stone and water" again. I wouldn't ask, but I have this problem only with Royal purple (I bought it first a year ago, and yesterday the second one - so it isn't only one paint)- once I thought it doesn't depend on the color, but maybe it does? Maybe there is any way to make it useful without shaking 10 minutes everytime I use it? It's annoying | |

| I use different paints from time to time and i have a certain brand and color that does it as well. I asked around and was told to put a small steel marble in it and shake it with that. Does not take as long and seems to work somewhat better that shaking for the ten minutes routine.
Not sure if you want to try it, but thats how i handled that situation.

| Acrylic paints, like oil based paints, tend to dry glossy. To achieve a matte effect, talc is added to the base, which is why the water has an oily appearance. Some colors, usually dark blues & purples have a tendency NOT to accept the talc. The little steel ball [BB shot for an air gun works well] is an EXCELLENT method of achieving a good mix; it's the method used with matte spray finishes, which is why you get that rattling sound when you shake a can of matte finish & you don't with a gloss. I CAN hardly wait to see what you are doing up in Purple! | |

You'd MOST probably do very well. I know I have as little to do with me as possible. ACTUALLY my mind, such as it is, ONLY retains information of dubious worth; practical information is IMMEDIATELY discarded.

| Like it was said above, just stick an agitator in your paint pot so you don't get it separating like that again. | |

What if I could only replace all the rubbish with practical learnings... But then life would be less fun.

| Awesome! I've had the same problem with my Vallejo paints. Blue, purple and some of the cooler browns. DeafNala you rule! |
