Start of Middenheim warband and warrior priest of Sigmar

I'd intended on painting and green stuffing some pirates by now (in another thread) but they haven't arrived (stupid couriers) so I've made some minis for a Middenheim warband to use in a campaign my friends and I are starting.

I know spears aren't the best thing but my mates and I are going to try some house rules to make the less popular weapons more appealing so everyone isn't running around with 2 maces and 7 slings.

Also they're supposed to be expert boar hunters so spears seem appropriate to me.

P.S a warrior priest of Sigmar I painted a while back as sort of a practice piece at painting stubble (check out the head)

The Lads look GREAT; AND the cross piece on the spear is correct for a boar spear...keeps the boar from push down the spear for a parting shot/bite. Have FUN with the brushwork & basing!

On a side note what do you think to the warrior priest?

At first I din't notice the stubble effect...that is until I noticed the shaved head. It really is a COOL effect. 



The mini is also pretty cool...should be even cooler once you're done with him.   

Great start on the Middenheim models. Love the leader. I LOVE the warrior priest! Awesome converion with the lower body using the dark elf armoured legs. Suits the warrior priest's armour very well. If I make a converted warrior priest, I'll do that as well since I still have some kicking around.

I was thinking about maybe getting rid of the sword on his belt seeing as priests generally eschew bladed stuff but I like how it looks on the model so undecided at the mo

The sword is COOL. AND we're in miniature games, at least partly, for that coolness. SO, I would keep the sword...it could be a family heirloom as a fluff point.   

Would love to see these guys in different angles to get a better feel for how they look. So far they seem pretty cool though. I especially like the shading effect of the shaven head of the Warrior Priest!

Unfortunately I'm at work for a 16 hour shift today so although I can read the fantastic comments from the lovely people on the forum, I can't take or post any more photos probably until tomorrow, but thanks so much for your kind words I'll post more of my empire stuff as well if you like (a few stirland swordsmen and halberdiers)

Interesting concept for a Middenheim-warband. Even with spears, they certainly look the part.
I Wouldn't worry about the priest's sword (really cool conversion btw). It looks more like a bigger knife and everyone in MH carries one of those, even a priest.

It's GWs own snow, don't know if they still do it as I haven't been in a store in a while, plus either some GW grass flock or army painter grass tufts I can't remember as I painted and based them a couple of years ago

I have finished construction of the starting warband, may the boys get many victories (hoping to get hold of the female youngblood from ebay for a bit of variation)

I hope you guys like the blunderbuss, I'm going to bulk up the guys shoulders with a bit of green stuff so he looks more comfortable shooting the big gun from the hip

Yeah, from what I understand about them, it's kinda hard to "aim" a blunderbuss.   

Nice work on the Northern lads btw, and kudos to your gal for some REALLY nice greenstuff work.

Actuallly in history the blunderbuss was too strong of a kick for people to aim at the shoulder. Everyone shot a blunderbuss from the hip. It was the shotgun of its day.
