| Welcome!
I think, unless there is a BTB special rule or one of your own house rules, that you can not create a starting warband that is equipped with Lucky Charms or other equipment that is not on the warband's starting equipment list.
Do you have any henchmen that can get the Lads got Talent result? If not, purchase them rather than zombies.

| Von Kurst is right, you may not start with misc items. They can only be searched for after the first game.
Also, as he said, go with Wights. For the price of one scarecrow you can get two wights, who can become Heroes. If you can, start with the maximum of 3 Wights. The Wight Blade rule of Grave Guards and talented Wights is really good.

| I'd go with the Silent Threat since it's pretty cool and you can have a lot of fun with it (like putting a price on an enemy model). | |

It's not actually. It can be achieved only at the end of the campaign, when it's time to end it anyways. At that time it is a cool effect that causes a lot of "dipllomacy" among players. You should give it a try. - way2blaster wrote:

What blood thirster? If the warband leader that is assassinated wields any of the Chaos Artefacts, then they are put in the warband's storage. So if you e.g. kill a Marauder warband's Daemon Prince, then the warband would retain all the artefacts and could immediately equip their new leader with them - and get another Daemon Prince. So there is no stopping marauders from winning this way. You need pick the target for the assassination carefully.

| Interesting looking warband you have there. Since I'm new on this site I thought I'd post the list I'm starting at the moment. I've played Druchii before, and Reiklanders a long time ago, but now I started with Averlanders. This is the beginning: Captain - dagger & sword - pistol - buckler
Sergeant - dagger & greatsword
Bergjaeger - dagger & longbow
Bergjaeger - dagger & longbow
Youngblood - dagger, spear & buckler
3 Mountainguards - dagger, mace, buckler
2 Marksmen - dagger, crossbow
The Moutainguards and Marksmen are pretty straightforward, as are the Bergjeager. The heroes each have their own weaponset for specific targets. What do you think about it?

| okay, Arathorn, i have some suggestions based on what i have heard and experienced as a player 1. dont take spears. ever. unless you have a house rule they are essentially worthless because the "strikes first" doesnt count if they are charged, because the chargers also "strike first" so its just initiative. and on the charge, you strike first anyway. 2. how will the buckler be used if the captain is dual wielding dagger and sword (or dagger and pistol etc) unless he has three arms. other than that, it seems alright, although i might try for more henchmen to increase your rout number. and, BTW, welcome to the forum! | |

| First post on this forum. Hello folks =]. Not my first time playing Mordheim, but my first time using WHs, previously I used Orcs. Witch Hunters List: Heroes: Witch Hunter Captain Crossbow Mace Dagger 88 Witch Hunter Crossbow Mace Dagger 53 Witch Hunter Crossbow Mace Dagger 53 Witch Hunter Crossbow Mace Dagger 53 Warrior Priest Mace Dagger 43 Henchmen: 4 Warhounds 60 3 Flagellants 2 w/Flails 1 w/Dagger 150 First thing to buy is a flail for the flagellant. It's tempting to drop a warhound for it, but I don't think I will. I've always been a boots on the ground sort of person. Saying this, I ignored Zealots because I can't justify their point cost next to Witch Hunters/Flagellants. They're too expensive for too little. All comments appreciated! P.s. Tactic for later in the campaign. I plan on buying an Elf Ranger, and also Mad Cap shrooms for my Flaggs. Because even if they become stupid, they automatically pass. Sneaky, no? Thoughts on those two decisions? Thanks in advance! | |

| Archnomad,
For your henchmen, two concerns: #1 All henchmen in a group must be equipped in the same manner. #2 Flagellants can not use daggers.
For your heroes:
4 Models with Crossbows is expensive (100gc), and in order to fire them, none of your heroes can move. I would reconsider if you want to spend that much money on crossbows. Perhaps buy another Flagellent w/ a flail, and equip your current Flagellent with one. Or buy some Zealots.
Zealots - they may not seem like much when you just look at their stats, but they have some nice equipment options available to them that are not available to Flagellants or WH's. (And they're less painful when one dies!)
Your Warband is already at max capacity (12 for Witch Hunters), so you may want to consider swapping out the dogs to make room, since they can not gain experience.

Have a look at the Rules Review then (GW website). The spear rules have been officiall changed, because the used to be confusing and not clear. It is true, now spears are only worth it on models with a good Initiative (such as Skaven).

| The cult of the possessed looks very solid, i started a campaign with a very similar warband once. The only differences were that i did not use the sword on the magister (i bought clubs for him and the mutants) and gave both mutants the scorpion tail. The big advantage of that list is that it gives you all heroes from the start and ensures a decent income. If your possessed get good advances the warband will become very strong. The big drawback is that you do not have any beastmen that can become heroes and that the possessed can´t get any mutations later. An alternative would be going with only one mutant and giving the possessed extra arms (with 3 attacks they become pretty much unstoppable early in the campaign) and buying beastmen henchmen. | |

so... what do you think? If you buy your Posessed with no mutations, you can not buy mutations for them later in the campaign. I'd strongly suggest starting with 4 heros, giving your 1 Posessed a nice mutation, and taking the rest of the money and buy a Beastman or two. (Possibly cut a Brethren, to make room for the 2nd Beastman if needed) Ideally, you want a Beastman to roll LGT... Beastman heroes are amazing.

| Hello all. I just started playing Mordheim and after a couple games with Skaven, I want to try out the dwarfs. Any feedback on this roster would be appreciated. Thanks
Noble Dwarf Axe & Hammer Helmet
Engineer Hammer & Dagger Crossbow
Slayer 2 Hammers
Slayer Sword & Hammer
5 Beardlings (in 2 groups) 2 Hammers each
models:9 total cost: 500 rating: 91
Is taking beardlings over clandorfs/thunderers at the start a bad move? I feel like I can use them for fodder and replace them with more expensive guys as they die. I also thought it was more useful to take double hammers and 10 concussion attacks at WS3 rather than many less with more skilled henchmen.

| Ok, here is my starting warband for my Witch Hunters. I'm a big fan of "fluff" playing and I think Witch Hunters should use pistols when dispensing Sigmar's judgement and so...
Captain 78gc Enoch Blackthorn Hammer Pistol He was originally a priest of the Church but after catching his sister in the worship of Chaos he left the priesthood to join the Templars of Sigmar. His dedication and zeal in judging heretics has led to a remarkably fast rise through the ranks of the Order. As a former priest, his favourite method of executing evil doers is his trusty warhammer.
Witch Hunter 50gc Jeremiah Kane Saber (sword) Pistol
Witch Hunter 50gc Isaiah Kyd Katana (sword) Pistol
Witch Hunter 50gc Abram Knox Sword Pistol
Warrior Priest 46gc Ezekiel Grey Hammer Hammer
3 Flagellants 165gc 3 Flails
4 Warhounds 60gc
Total 499gc
Names were chosen to represent the Puritan type background of the witch hunters

Only 'problem' I see is that your max capacity is 12, and you're already at it. But as games are played, I'm sure units will die, which will allow you to eventually drop dogs for zealots.

| Thanks for the advice Cianty! I never even thought about using slings.. I didn't even knew how they worked! They indeed are cheap for Str 3 weapons, they might have a bit less range, but they're able to fire twice if you don't move! Here's a little update on the list, let me know what you think. | Looks good! My list is slightly different. I go with the full 4 Chaos Dwarf henchmen so that they can earn XP early on and I have the best chances of getting LGTs. However, your list is more flavourful with better (read: less cheesy) equipment AND the huge number of Informers with slings are probably an even greater threat because of the double-shooting slings. I like that list! | |
