Thanks guys!!

+++

This wasn't †a re-base, strictly speaking, as the looted cannon never actually had a base... But as part of my re-basing project I am adding bases to this and the other five or six guns I have in my Pirate Orruk army. So here's...

Geedo Forks and Da Fireworkz! (counts as a Rock Lobber)

As well as making a new base for it I have re-painted the fabric that is wrapped around the gun carriage, to match the Rotmoons colours. I intend to assign one (or more) guns to each of my pirate crews.

Beermoth the Aleguzzler Gargant

These photos were taken before undercoating - I sprayed him black and gave him a zenithal spray Mournfang Brown basecoat.

The Charybdis Occulum

This is the start of my Realm of Beasts scenery for my Orruk Pirates.

Blackrocks Bay is a ruined port town that has been partially rebuilt using materials from shipwrecks.

The base models are a Numinous Occulum and an Eternity Stair, with "shipwreck-timber" decks made from Goblin Town platforms. I still have to add some kind of masts, rigging, a striped sailcloth awning and a lot of nautical detritus.

The first few photos are from about 4 weeks ago:

I've done a bit more work on the Charybdis Occulum since then. It's taking a bit longer than I expected as I keep distracting myself with other projects!

I have added some more details to the base (mainly shipwreck timbers and some more nautical detritus) - I hope to start painting it soon.

I couldn't get the sphere to fit together, so I made an "Orruk Pirate" repair to it!

The Storm Bell

I finished this about 4 years ago (it was made for the Storm of Magic as an Arcane Fulcrum) but I never got round to photographing it before I had to pack everything hobby-related into storage (we were going to move house).

As I want it to be part of my Blackrocks Bay scenery set I dug it out of storage so I can use it as a colour reference for all the other rocky scenery. It fits nicely into the whole "skull-carved rocks, ship-wrecks and ruined buildings" vibe I am aiming for.

Red crabs will feature a lot...†

Two very characterful pieces with all the extra bitz you added. As I read it, you had a hard time putting the sphere together. I've got the Archway and assembling was really a pain. It's not painted yet and I think I'll follow you in first adding some extras for a less artificial look.

Thanks Alan,

To be honest I didn't ask for this thread to be moved to the Gallery section - I think Tom moved it years ago!. †Razz

I think I would rather it was in the general painting section as I like to keep all my work for one army in one thread.

Thanks! Yeah, the AoS scenery kits have a bit of a bad rep generally for being hard to fit together, but they are not awful.
Wink
I always think scenery kits look better if you modify or mix them up in some way, otherwise every battle in the world is fought over the exact same battlefield!
lol!

I agree about keeping it in one section. If you should ever want it moved let me know. †What a Face

Beermoth the Rumguzzler Gargant

Beermoth and Grapeshot are good friends but they bicker and argue constantly...

I've just realised I haven't painted his name on his base - and I need to add a Jolly Roger to the black flag loin cloth!
