Thanks guys!!

~ ~ ~

Adm'rul Kurgan Grimjaw and the Ironfang Pirate Fleet don't all come from one Realm so they don't like to be tied down to any location and always have one eye on the horizon in search of the next drink/loot/fight. The fleet is often scattered around the oceans and seas of the Mortal Realms. They have used Blackwater, in Ghur, as a base of operations and meeting point for many years (and if you believe the old Adm'rul, he says he was Pirate Prince for a while). Before that they also used an uncharted island chain known as Hell's Teef, somewhere in the Sea of Serpents.

Adm'rul Kurgan is a veteran of a hundred campaigns in every corner of the Realms: from the steaming jungles of Ghyran to the ruined cities of the Hysh; he has burned ports along the Rotwater Blight, raided the islands of Okkam’s Reach in Ulgu, besieged fortresses in the Endless Desert, endured the perpetual snowstorms and barren wastes of the Silverglades in Chamon, battled on the rivers in the heart of the Jade Kingdoms, looted the Baneskull Islands of Shyish and engaged all manner of foes on land and sea. All the while stealing anything that wasn't nailed down, and having a go with a claw-hammer at anything that was. He and Da Ironfangs are always ready to run away from whatever the world throws at them!

Finally, a scale shot with the "Warboss" version of Adm'rul Kurgan!

...AND a GREAT little dancer! Sorry; after all the accomplishments of his piratical life, I had to add that. The new & larger version is IMPRESSIVE, & matches the quality of the original perfectly. VERY WELL DONE!   thumbsup

Thanks VK - both his pistols look a bit like mere pea-shooters but I like the idea that he thinks of them as lucky charms more than as actual weapons. pirat

The Rotmoons - Orruk Privateers of Chamon

The Isla de los Corsarios in Chamon was home to a culture much like Estallia in the World-That-Was. The island had three major cities and was ruled by three feuding noble houses of the Castilians.

The feuds ended hundreds of years ago when the Arabican Empire invaded from Hysh. A long war was fought between the united noble houses and the Arabicans that ended in an uneasy truce, with the Castilian noble houses controlling two of the island’s cities and the Arabican’s controlling the third.

The pinnacle-city of Ras Kebdaha, in a wide bay on the east coast of the island, was re-built by Arabicans in the style of their own cities in Hysh: domed spires and ornate archways, whitewashed walls and gilt-and-turquoise decoration.

When the forces of Chaos defeated and slayed the population, Arabicans and Castilians alike, the island was left empty and in ruins for centuries. The forces of Destruction eventually followed the Arabicans from Hysh and occupied the island. In the city of Ras Kebdaha, the orruks and ogors took on the habits and customs of the Arabicans in a mockery of their sophisticated civilisation. In Port d’Addia and Port Mahóne they adopted the Castilian style.

Kapitán Alunzo da Leeva - Orruk Warboss
A dashing and heroic Orc Pirate; young, capable and unusually quick witted. He started his career on the Almagorka Coast and both he and his crew have acquired many strange local habits and mannerisms. He wears looted black clothes and black & gold enamelled armour, with a “white” ruff collar, a pair of heavy pistols, and a long coat draped over his shoulders as a cloak. He is popular with his crew as he has got them out of many scrapes over the years but unpopular with the other captains of the Ironfang Fleet who see him as an “upstart young pup”. He is unfortunately prone to shipwreck much more often than his actual skill as a commander should be.

El Doctoro - Orruk Great Shaman
Surgeon, explorer, secret agent, collector, scientist: El Doctoro is none of these but he occasionally drops hints that there is more to him than just “the shaman”. He wants the crew of the Rotmoon to think he is mysterious and complex.

Dragante - Orruk Boss
A hulking brute of an orruk who makes sure the Boyz do exactly what they are told and bashes heads together when the crews’ arguments (inevitably) turn into fights.

Geedo Forks
An Orruk obsessed with gunpowder.

Percy Percy
The famous discoverer of that precious substance known as 'Green'.

Bold Rikk
Distracted by his search for the biggest turnip ever known.

Port Mahóne lies on the west coast of Isla de los Corsarios, in a large bay that is nearly enclosed by a small islet. The city is largely in ruins but a fledgling community of humans and other races has return in recent years. The citizens live in an uneasy state of truce, united only by a common hatred of Chaos and a practical view on what might be called piracy.

The government of the port views taking ships and their cargoes from the waters surrounding the island as the only means currently available to them to survive, so they issue Letters of Marque to (at least partially) legitimise the practice.

The Rotmoons are among a number of non-human crews to hold one of these Letters of Marque, along side a number of other Greenskinz and Ogors. They are treated with contempt by most of the Ironfang Fleet because of their affiliation with the Port Mahóne authorities and it's "legality".

I have finished re-basing 7 more Rotmoons, including an Ogor Maneater, a Banner and a Drummer, so they are now a usable gaming force! They should make their Age of Sigmar début next week, when Viktor and I start our new mini campaign in Hysh, on his new desert scenery set.

These are the new Boyz:

Hammerhead signs articles!

Walta Rally

Tambor

Parche

Garfio

Anzuelo

Pata

(Apologies for the names if you speak Spanish!!)

Thanks Alan!

Ogor is the new name for Ogres in the Age of Sigmar. Same as Orruks are the new Orcs. It's part of a lot of subtle (and a lot of huge) changes to the background.

Only recently started posting on this forum but have been a long admirer of your orcs WarbossKurgan so just want to add how consistently great they look, all theme together really nicely, tied together with your style and great painting. If I ever get round to painting some orcs I will be taking a lot of inspiration from this thread

Love the grot with the crate and squig on his shoulders/head. Where's that from?

The snot with the sword is getting stolen, too.

I wonder if I've said all of this before...

Thanks! The Grot is from the wh40k Gretchin kit. The cage is a lantern from the Fortified Mnor / Watch Tower / Chapel scenery kits. The Squig is from the wh40k Nobz kit. There was only a tiny bit of greenstuff work needed to tie it all together.

Go right ahead! I did one with pistol too, but I'm not sure where he is...
