naval battles for mordheim?

anyone know of any rules for small scale (mordheim sized small) naval battles and where i might be able to download em from?

We use the Warhammer Ahoy! rules for Mordheim battles but the General's Compendium rules work as well.

I like the Warhammer Ahoy! rules because ships can catch fire and blow up when hte fire reaches the powder magazine. Nothing like BOOM!

Where can one find the Warhammer Ahoy! rules, Von Kurst? I have the General's Compendium, but I don't know if I have this other set (if they were in a White Dwarf I may well have them if you can point me in the right general direction).

Yeah the site is down and I didn't save the PDF I downloaded. I'll check around with the group to see if anyone has the PDF...

The Maid is nice, if a bit large, but the Merry Maid is better...endowed. More dimensional.

Thanks, gents. Yahoo groups and I don't mix (it's weird - they never let me join, I feel unloved) but I may send my wife in looking for them - she likes things nautical for gaming anyway.

I never had any problems. As the moderator for the Mordheim Yahoo group I can tell you that it is important to put something in the "comment" field to let us know that you are not a spam bot. Just a short sentence like "I love Mordheim Yeaah!!" and you can be approved. People are not aware but the moderators on those groups keep a lot of spam away from the members through this approval system.

I can vouch for that as I was approved in minutes for the Mordheim and Arromanche groups.

I've never had a problem joining one of the things, but I really hate the format and the added volume of e-mails.

I joined Man o' War just to get the rules. Otherwise a waste of time. For Mordheim, this forum is vastly superior.

No one has mentioned Legend of the High Seas, which is partially based on Mordheim to begin with. I'm not a big fan of the altered cannon rules and I don't get the separating boarding from cannon duels, but once you get past those it has lots of ideas to steal and is a great game by itself.

The General's Compendium rules used to be my favorites, but we used them only for Seahammer games. These days we play onlyWarhammer Ahoy! because all of our ship battles are fought in Mordheim campaigns.

I have heard a little rumour that there with be Naval rules in the back of Warhammer 8th edition (due out in July 2010).
Don't know how reliable this rumour is but we can live in hope!

I've always had a ball with the GC rules. I haven't played Warhammer Ahoy enough (just once at a GW event actually, using the (very impressive) ships provided by the game organiser) to really decide on that one but I have read them and quite liked them.

I always receive notification that I am accepted... but then cannot log in. We assumed for a time that I was doing something wrong, but my wife (who belongs to several yahoo groups) then tried to join me to a group (successful) and log me in (unsuccessful). Ah, Warhammer Historical! I love their work. It is strange that I have never noticed this rule set before. I have some other books that I am interested in from them, and one of their dioramas. Their Warhammer Ancients series is great and I want to get their Warmaster Ancients series, as well. Could LotHS be adopted to 6mm?

For that you want Trafalgar! Legends is for ship to ship duels and adventures in port.

The reason I like Ahoy! for Mordheim scale is the fact that cannon shots can only hit ships (I think this is the case in LotHS as well). This makes the cannon fire less deadly to fragile warbands (until the critical hits start to do damage to the crew!)

Small arms fire is pretty deadly once heroes start to gain trickshot.

All rules sets are easily adaptable and share common terms and concepts anyway. We chose what we like from all three and use Ahoy! as the core.

Good advise. Naval is a little bit of a ways off for my group, but it is good to know there are several good candidates out there. I have the General's Compendium, am waiting for Ahoy! approval, and will probably get the LotHS book somewhere down the line. As my group are all veteran Warhammer players that are new to Mordheim, I think they should concentrate on getting many die-rolling sessions behind them before they tackle another aspect.

Our only ship fight this week was between a returning player who had never played a nautical battle and didn't have the Ahoy rules and one of our veterans who hasn't played a ship battle in about 3 months. Oh and the newer player was late for an appointment. Add a tentacled monster from the deep and a dangerous reef and chaos ensued.

That sounds like my kind of chaos VK!
