PostSubject: Undead Warband   Thu 22 Oct 2009 - 7:48

During the sale at Heresy miniatures, i ordered a couple of different miniatures, just because they were cheap, and I was poor but spineless

When they arrived I took a closer look at the vampire I ordered, and although I think the miniature itself is a bit too cartoonish, it found that it had great potential. So as a little side project to my other (far too slow going project log), I decided to start an undead warband, giving me a chance to paint some of the old stuff I have gathered through the years

First of, the vampire itself, with experimental parts bluetagged on. Please tell me what you think of the combination of bitz. Sorry for the bad pics.

Next to him is a magician from crusader miniatures, he's going to be the warbands necromancer.

Im in doubt as to wheter these will be used as either dregs or ghouls... both possibilities for representation have some major problems, but zombies are lame...

I hope you are able to see that i'm going for something slightly different with this warband, trying to use mini's that not are used that often.

I think these guys from reaper are going to be used as the entry the skeletons won't be used as.

I hope that i'll be able to post minor updates (almost) daily.

I made use of the Heresy sale myself, I love their Ghouls

With your vampire...

I'm not sure the head is working tbh, its a problem of the mercenary models being some of the nicest and most used humans that i just feel that that head is too 'common' for a vampire... Do you know what I mean?

I would recommend using this head (which looks really good without the huge feathers)

Or maybe some from the Greatswords kit?

Course thats if you want to spend extra money and are able to find the specific bit you want...

In other news, I really like your necromancer model and I think that the skeletons would work best as dregs or zombies.

NICE choice of minis...you've got a couple of Oldies in the mix. I've done the Reaper Undertaker [Grave Robber] a couple of times; it's a TREAT to paint...ENJOY!

Hmm... I see your point, and I'll take it up for revision. I'm planning to greenstuff it a bit, but you might still be right. And I got most of those bitz already, so money is not realy the issue, I'm just a bit tired of seeing vampires with bared fangs or clean skin all the time, so opted for something different. But time will tell, your point is valid in any case

can't wait to get my hand on the reaper minis btw
