| Here is a piece of terrain that I made recently for a competition over at TG. The competition was to represent rocks. I was inspired a bit by the recent movie Avatar. Initially I wanted to create a piece with a herd stone for my beastman warbad, but as I got to working it took on a life of its own. I intended for this to be a playable piece of terrain for our Mordheim Empire in Flames table. The idea is that off in some clearing there is this circle of power. The details are left somewhat to imagination (or fluff as needed), but needeless to say something went wrong or the power couldn't contain the magic etc.. The aftermath is what you see here, the magic used at the circle ripped the ground apart. The circle of power now cracked in two floats above its original location the residual magic keeping the resulting rock islands floating. You can see all the WIP pictures on my Pbase site. Let me know what you think. | |

how much weight do you think it can hold? would you be able to use metal models on it? The piece is actually very strong, while doing the engineering on the piece I did a stress test. The piece as it is finished normally sits about 3 1/2 inches above the the base. Loaded with figures it drops to about 2 - 2 1/2 inches but even with a good deal of figures it doesn't seem to go lower than that. The test with figure was metal, including an older Ogre, but 2 are plastic. | |
