I was i my local oppshop today and noticed Faux croc leather bags and thought they would make great cobble stone texture.

Try it and see, how it looks. I do sspect though, that oen can see the difference. The bumbs on the skin are lined up it too much of a line compared to cobblestone. And while the stones in the street are also not of the same sice, the sices are mixed up more, while on the skin they get bigger further out.

It looks like the central area consisting of the smaller "cobblestones" could be scavenged for a catacomb-like level that has seen a lot of water with a slight weathering effect. The crevices may need a little spackling with water effect/ heavy paint/etc. It looks worthy of an experiment.
