| I agree, fantastic work on the timbering. Your joins are very tight; what kind of tools are you using for your miniature carpentry? | |

Not sure what you're referring to so I'll just cover the whole lot! The main (outside) beams are 6mm balsa sticks, glued with a hot glue gun (simply due to lack of patience, PVA takes a while to cure). This makes them jut out from the 5mm thick foamboard (I would have preferred 7mm beams, but couldn't find any). The inside is all 1mm thick balsa sheet, cut to each individual space. I'll cut a strip at the desired width and just lay it on, tracing where I want the cut to go, and use an x-acto knife. I usually make it about half a millimeter longer. It's easy enough to sand down with some sandpaper (just be careful not to fray the ends) and I find that balsa kind of gives way for a really tight joint if you press it in. As for the walls, the main construction is in the floor: I basically constructed actual floor beams like a real Tudor house (minus the complex carpentry joints, of course). This is a criss-cross pattern of 8mm and 6mm balsa rods. For added strength, I cut into the 8mm ones with a jeweller's saw and chip away with a basic wood chisel. In this one, I cut a small length of sandpaper and glued it to one side of the 6mm rod and used it to make a flush joint. I then cut some holes into the foamboard; these are aligned once the basic floor structure is constructed, and I usually put them about 1mm in from where they should be; I can always sand the end pieces and cut a tiny strip of foamboard on either side. In this building I put strips of plasticard inside the holes for added strength and a tight fit. I found the other ones were a bit prone to tearing from time to time, and this should prevent that. Finally, to make sure the walls aligned vertically, I made two small holes in the outside beams, on either end, using a dremmel bit (but a drillbit should be fine). I then shoved a toothpick into the foamboard and glued it in place. It all takes a bit of fiddling to put together, but is surprisingly sturdy once assembled. The entire process is pretty time-consuming, but like I stated in my original post, I'm in no rush! Hope that makes sense, and was the information you were looking for! I'm really just making up as I go along. If you want I can take some detailed photos of the construction method. This little building is far from over, I still have tons of detailing to do, texture, the actual floorboards, a roof, and, of course, paint! Cheers!

@DeafNala: I'm quite happy with the windows myself. I made them not perfectly straight (by design, of course, *coughcough*) and I really think they give the building charm. I might do a smaller jettied window on one side of the building, but I'm thinking of keeping the intact side with no windows. In game this gives less of an advantage to shooty warbands. Thoughts? Agreed. As someone who favors using Witch Hunters, Skaven or Reikland I think ommitting some windows (or maybe have them there, but have stacks of rubble blocking them?) would be great to make a purposefully-unbalanced game a tad more fair!

| Once again, thanks for the comments. @mariner2011, yes, I was thinking of Reiklanders (and other shooty warbands in general). Speaking as a skaven player, it's a shame to see half your warband drop due to playing on a table with few buildings or no cover. Another thing I want to add is lots of rubble for the streets themselves. This will force players to go vertical, and with the addition of walkways and ladders it should be possible even for the Initiative-deprived. This just makes Mordheim better IMHO. That dramatic diving charge or even the jump to get away from a fearsome foe makes for great drama and gameplay! To facilitate this I'm trying to add one or two places where a walkway between buildings would fit nicely, so as to have the option of using it. They're super easy to make with just scrap balsa and glue... Now, onto an update on the gun shop! I finished the timbering on the sides, like I stated previously it's a pretty generic square studding, common in Tudor houses. To break up the monotony I added a few cross-braces, though I'm undecided on adding more (opinions welcome!). I also added another oriel window to the wrecked side, it just seemed fitting, plus I had a ton of fun cobbling it together! I also cut the inside of the big window in the facade and properly framed them from the inside (something I had failed to do in my previous builds). In hindsight I could've made the woodwork pattern more irregular, as if each floor was added on top of an existing one. Need to keep this in mind for future building plans... Next up is the flooring, then I get to tackle the entrance, which if you notice is a gaping maw. I's supposed to be indented into the wooden pillar in the facade. I figured out there was no point in cutting it out without the floorboards in place, so yeah... Honestly, I've been avoiding doing it because it's going to be a nightmare to put together with the house flat-packing. Anyway, that's where I am right now. As always, I hope you enjoy! | |

| The building is amazing. I do look at the long timbered wall broken only by a doorway and think, avoid that building if you can. | |

| That bad? I imagine it would be relatively close to another tall building, hence the lack of windows... I could put an opening of some sort in it if you think it's necessary. | |

| Fantastic!! I'd add some kind of outdoor decking to an upper-story maybe? With a door or break in the wall leading to the outside? What material are you using for the grid inside the windows? I love it and want it for my own buildings | |
