| Ahoy there from Nova Scotia.
A quick introduction: I played Mordheim back in 1999, and fell off a decade ago and a bit, when we were readying for our daughter, and terrain storage stopped being something that we had. My opinion of it remains the same - a game whose imperfections are surprisingly minor for a miniatures game, and whose advantages in atmospheric setting, campaign narrative, and open "pastiche" accessibility to all kinds of favoured warband themes, are very admirable. Oh, and the advantage that the rules are, at this point, entirely free and available to all comers.
This winter, I was set a challenge by my wife, which brings us up to today. Seeing the various "winter miniature holiday village" displays at the homes of relatives and friends, and for sale at many a store, and noting that this year was the twentieth anniversary of Mordheim [which had caught my attention a couple of months before], the challenge was this: build a "winter miniature holiday Mordheim."
A ruined city table, with lots of snow on terrain and bases, and a blasted evergreen tree for the town square.
And then, we will create three warbands. For my wife, the skaven. A "rat army." For me, the undead, including zombies in redcoats. For my daughter, a "werewolf krampus" group of beastmen. We will also include a gothic-ed-up "sugar plum fairy" hired sword, and likewise some "young girl" character.
And we will fight The Nutcracker Ballet battles as a campaign through our ruined city, rats against redcoats, with the krampus picking up the pieces, as an annual winter holidays event, to celebrate Chanukkah and Christmas and the like.
That is the challenge. That is the plan.

| So... advice on good "winter snow" techniques welcome. Yes, yes, I have picked up quite a few tutorial resources from across the internet [the rise of Frostgrave has been particularly helpful in this specific way]. I have begin assembling my core undead warband [Restless Dead from BTB], with nighthaunt and skeleton models. You can find some images of the in progress work at https://yaktribe.games/community/media/albums/project-log-mordheim-aos28-risen-dead-warband.1958/Skeletons and zombies will be the redcoats, and nighthaunt [pretty, pretty nighthaunt sculpts] for the wights and grave guard. The beastmen-as-Krampus is... obvious and easy, really. And the skaven as rat men? Not much of a stretch. Edit: Testing the cross-posting of images between the two forums:

| Will link in more WiP pictures as work gets done. Here is a set of images of the Krampus warband [beastmen]. They also have a few chariots pulled by terrible boars -- yes, standard beastmen chariots, which fit perfectly with the 1600s-created "history" of the Krampus story as a forgotten mythology of a son of Hel and Loki. Happy Hogswatch! https://yaktribe.games/community/media/albums/the-krampus-a-beastmen-warband.2119/ | |

| OUTSTANDING WORK! Posting the links & photos in the Painting & Modeling Section or The Gallery, if finished, would get more attention than posting it here...probably. | |

| This is a grand project, & coming on very nicely! & yes, those archers are sort of the outstanding part... Apart from the portable laboratory, which is a grand piece of madness! | |

| Just a belated "update" to ensure that I brag up just a little - the Mordheim Facebook group had a scenario design event to celebrate the twentieth anniversary this year of the game, and Tuomas Pirinen adjudged my submission to be one of the ones worth consideration! Huzzah! Here is a link to the pdf copy of the scenario, for those not making use of Facebook for their Mordheiming: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1dgs3RFykrf4_T23XWvEBHgm9_pm8sRND | |

| Congratulations! Excellent work! (I'm not sure when we will get around to playing the scenario as we are in Araby for a bit, but it is on the list.) | |

| That's pretty cool! Both the scenario itself, & the positive feedback from The Creator. Appropriately enough, I also find the Sleepy Hollow soundtrack makes for good gaming music for Mordheim... & this scenario gives a good excuse for that Headless Horseman conversion I was thinking of doing... | |
