| Does warriors missing the battle can still search after battle? I know they still count for rating and do not count for rout test.
Does forest areas (bushes too) give cover or block sight?

| Some people may have different interpretations, but as far as I know:
1. No, since they miss the whole battle, they miss the post-battle sequence, including searching for wyrdstone or items, and don't earn experience for that game.
2. Cover. If you can pass thru it, you may see and shoot thru it. To be out of sight in a forest, you should use the rules regarding hiding. But it always depends of the kind of scenery you are using, that should be discussed before the game in case there's any doubt.

| Thanks for ht answers Bitxo.
Main-while I had found the forest rules in Empire in Flames page 13.
"A stand of woods blocks line of sight to the other side, no matter how wide the stand is. This means that two models on either side of even a 1" wide section of woods cannot see each other if neither has actually entered it."
"A model within a stand of woods can see or be seen for 2". This means that there must be no more than 2" between a warrior in woods and an enemy model for the warrior to freely charge or shoot at the enemy, and the same goes for enemy models who wish to shoot at or charge a warrior in woods. Models with more than 2" of woods between them may still test to see if they can charge unseen enemy models as per the normal Mordheim rules, of course."

| But that's talking about a stand of wood blocks. Not sure my English is right there and I fully understand, but that's more like a wall than a forest, isn't? Anyways, after years playing it comes to agreeing on wich effect has every conflictive piece of terrain and common sense to me. If my scenery was something like this, I'd said it wouldn't block sight unless you are hidden behind a tree: But something like this or thicker, I'd said it's pretty reasonable to be considered total cover: I have to read again the whole Empire in Flames rules regarding that kind of stuff. We usually play with city ruins and don't really use forests so, that's an interesting thing to know just in case. | |

| I believe you are both correct. Use the rules as you understand them. The question is how your group treats the wooded terrain models. If its a couple of large trees you want to treat as solitary objects or as representing an area of woodland.
We have individual trees that are just a standard obstacle and we have a stand of trees which we treat the perimeter of the base as the wooded area regardless of how the trees are modeled.

| We play the same as Mike. Often wooded areas are not modelled as densely packed as that can impede gameplay but we nominate which areas are total cover/use EiF rules. | |

| The Empire in Flames supplement is filled with unworkable, or just plain awful rules. The old Lustrian rules for jungles are better, but we use something closer to the source: Warhammer 6th edition.
Or plus one to Ben and Mike (cause that's basically how it works out).
