So I've just received an email alerting me to a new set for Frostgrave - multi-part plastic pirates.

Ooooooh - plastic pirates! Pirate10

Ooooooh - plastic pirates! Pirate11

The minis at a bit smaller than GW plastics but arms and heads can be swapped easily. Most importantly, you get 20 of them for 20 pounds.

These will be great for pirate warbands and Marienburg henchmen. They will also be interchangeable with other Frostgrave sets.

Very nice! I've found the Frostgrave kits really useful, & I like that they're co-compatible for parts. Plus, the sculpt quality seems to be getting better each time (the last release, the barbarians, was distinctly better produced than the first wave of henchmen).

This must also mean there's a set of pirate character figures coming out in metal. I must do research...

Thanks for bringing this up!

Good point Rhydderch. I'll look to for the metal pirates too. A piratey mage would be awesome!

The existing Frostgrave sets allow you to make pretty much any human for Mordheim and I like the accessories that come on each sprue.

According to my research this is for a new variation of Frostgrave called 'Ghost Archipelago' [he explains for he benefit of an unseen audience] which will also feature super-human characters, &, by the looks of it, a race of monstrous lizard creatures. Which should mean some characterful hero models to accompany the pirates, & possibly a metal or plastic release of some non-copyright infringing man-lizards. Which is good, because I do not care for GWs 'Seraphon' line.

As an old fan of Necromunda, & someone who doesn't enjoy playing Frostgrave, it surprises me that I'm more excited for a new Frostgrave release than new Necromunda... but there you have it folks!

This is the new Heritor plastic set - it looks really good, and as mentioned before, a clear improvement on their earliest sets. The premise of the new game is really exciting too. Any idea when these come out?

Have you seen the yet-to-be-released Northstar Plastic fantasy sprues? I think the plan is to do Dwarfs, Elves and Orcs. The Dwarfs are quite easy to find online, and the Orcs have been previewed.

Release is scheduled for October, with a Nickstarter running in September: https://www.facebook.com/northstarmilitaryfigures/posts/1740246489337579

The Nickstarter should be a good way to get the models on release, especially if you're after several boxes! The Northstar plastic fantasy models are also a nice development, with good looking simple kits. Dwarves look rather tall for my taste (shoulder height to a Space Marine!), but are apparently just about compatible with Frostgrave kits, which widens the weapons options... Goodness me.
