Thanks for the replies! @Grimscull, to be completely honest, I didn't add freehands to the robe because I sculpted a lot of creases and folds into the back. Hence, painting freehands on such a wavy background seemed like a hassle.
Another miniature with very little freehands is the warrior priest for my Witch Hunter warband!

Now, I quite like a wavy background for free-hand -- "Of course that line doesn't look straight," I can say, "it's the fold of the fabric making it look that way."
Good work on the Witch Hunters too!

Thank you! @Grimscull, the hounds are part of Tipo Duros + Mastins from Freebooter Miniatures. The casts are quite sloppy though, requiring some serious gap-filling, but nothing someone with a bit of experience can't handle. I turned Tipo himself into a Witch Hunter:
I replaced his arms with two from the Empire Militia sprue, of which I changed of of the hands as well. I used a militia sword hilt as the basis for his sword, adding a finger-ring, knuckle-bow and replacing the blade with one I made myself. In addition, I added a little comet symbol to his hat.

He is a SPLENDID conversion, BEAUTIFULLY painted. He & his Hounds seem to have the same disposition. VERY NICELY DONE!

I didn't pay that much attention to the later FF-releases, so Tipo was well below my radar. Thanky for bringing him to my attention! Your armswaps work very well, all natural pose.
Agreed, very nice work -- both on the conversion & the painting. The arms work well, and give a really good line & sense of movement, completely changing the effect of the original pose. The detail work (the sword guard & hat-badge) fit in pretty perfectly too. Well done!

Thanks everyone! he was quite the hassle, as I had to shorten his sword and arm multiple times to make it right, but I'm very happy with the result! Here are two more pirates!
Both the photography and painting are far from my best work, but I really like how the conversions came out!

I have all too often had my minis look better in person than in the photos...the photos are great for finding alll the little flaws though. The Lads may not be your masterpieces, but they still are LOOKIN' GOOD. I love the concertina player; a very imaginative conversion. GREAT WORK!

That's one intimidating concertina player. "Give me all your money or - I will sing you a song. harrr!" Let me guess, this mini is for when you roll "The Lad's got talent"
That's conversion work to be proud of, definitely! Especially the concertina player, which is just the sort of demented lack of function Mordheim needs.
Plus, the painting is definitely tabletop-ready, & nothing to be sneered at, even if it isn't your best work.

Hey! The concertina player has a knife you know! You'd better watch out!
Thank you for the kind words, they are much appreciated! However, I think I can do better:
Though not necessarily a part of my mercenary mordheim warband, it should be noted that my pirates are all part of a (very slowly progressing) steampunk pirate project. Then again, the description of this topic reads: 'My warbands and other miniatures', so I've already excused myself for posting something not particularly Mordheim-related.

There is always room for improvement. The Steam Punky Fellow is a TERRIFIC looking conversion. With all those Nuln Engineering Folk, Mordheim can take on a Steam Punk feel & still not have departed too much from the theme. OUTSTANDING WORK!

I used that same weapon as a counts-as blunderbuss, so I'd say it fits in Mordheim. Mind, I didn't make my guy look so cool. The blast of smoke is a really nice touch, & the steampunk style works!

Thanks! Smoke effects on miniatures are quite a hassle, but I still enjoy doing them. I've painted up the (almost mandatory for modern Witch Hunter warbands) Witch Hunter Captain!

Ahh, the Witch Hunter Captain, one of the last survivors of the World that Was... A classic miniature, with nice work on the painting! Though either there's some trouble with the photography, or he's wreathed in smoke from a burning heretic...
