| Have you noticed this new wargame by Osprey & North Star Miniatures? I feel quite excited about it. Seems like a nice alternative to Mordheim and also a great source of characterful miniatures useful even in the City of the Damned! "In July, Osprey Games will be releasing Frostgrave, a new fantasy, skirmish wargame where players take on the role of wizards and lead their bands of adventurers into the ruins of an ancient, frozen city in a quest for magical treasure. In support of this game, Osprey Games have teamed up with North Star Military Figures to jointly produce a large range of official Frostgrave Miniatures. The range will include 10 wizards, one representing each of the ten schools of magic in the game, 10 apprentices to support the wizards, and a large number of soldiers, henchmen, creatures and monsters. This includes a box set of multi-part, plastic soldiers, a first for both Osprey Games and North Star! These figures are being sculpted by some of the biggest names in the industry, including Mark Copplestone, Mark Sims, Mike Owen, Nick Collier and Bob Naismith! The figures will be released at the same time as the game, but in May everyone will have a chance to pre-order them through North Star’s Nickstarter program. (More info on that soon)." "This is a set of 20 plastic 28mm sized figures. Their role in the game is to accompany the Wizards into the frozen city, fight opponents and grab treasure. The player designs his own band of followers, and arms them as they wish. So our box set is designed to allow you to do that. In the box there are 4 'frames' of plastic. Each frame has: 5 bodies 10 heads 25 different arms/ weapons 2 shields + selection of bags & equipment. " There are only pictures of plastic "3 ups" right now: Few of my favourite metal miniatures: Enchanter's Apprentice - really big guy Necromancer Apprentice - what a psycho! Sorry about that! | |

| Posting in the wrong spot is not a problem of any consequence. I'll just move it...it gives me the illusion of being of use. I've seen the pieces over on L.A.F., but you done a more complete & attractive presentation. | |

| The minis do have a charm to them; AND gaming in The Frozen City is rather Mordheim. | |

| I've seen pics of some of the minis yet, but I hadn't realized what type of game was behind them. I wanted to see how to get the minis and this page is the one that was clearest to me: http://www.northstarfigures.com/list.php?man=195&page=1So we'll have to wait till june to see if it's a good alternative to MH. Does it have a campaign modus? Couldn't find an info (though I didn't read all the 12 pages in that one forum). Some of the minis certainly are nice! | |

| From what I gather the bare bones of the background is various Wizards & their Henchmen competing for the Arcane Treasures of an abandoned & very chilly city. It does sound interesting if you don't mind the cold. | |

Couldn't find an info (though I didn't read all the 12 pages in that one forum). Some of the minis certainly are nice! It's definitly a campaign focused game. Here is the official information: "Amidst the frozen ruins of an ancient city, wizards battle in the hopes of discovering the treasures of a fallen empire. In this fantasy skirmish wargame, each player takes on the role of a wizard from one of ten schools of magic, and builds his band of followers. The wizard's apprentice will usually accompany his master, and more than a dozen other henchman types are available for hire, from lowly thugs to heavily armoured knights and stealthy thieves. Wizards can expand their magical knowledge by unlocking ancient secrets and may learn up to 80 different spells. While individual games of Frostgrave are quick and can easily be played in an hour or two, it is by connecting them into an ongoing campaign that players will find the most enjoyment. In the campaign section, players will find treasure tables, rules for establishing bases, and even tables for wandering monsters. The scenarios given in the book are merely the beginning of the limitless adventures that can be found amidst the ruins of the Frozen City." The pre-order system just started,. There are some free bonuses Just follow this link: http://nstarmagazine.com/FROSTGRAVE.htm

| That sounds quite promising. I don't know if there will be something like XP or stat-increases, but on the other hand, it doesn't have to be too close to MH either That would be kind of pointless... | |

| As far as I know, the wizards can learn new spells (80 of them devided in 10 schools) and how to cast them more effectively. Soldiers will probably get better only with magic items. Not everyone's cup of tea, but it seems fine to me | |

| Both the miniatures & the game look SPLENDID...they certainly are generating a lot of excitement over on the Lead Adventure Forum. I don't foresee myself actual gaming it, but it is fun watching the project develop. | |

| I see the rulebook is up for preorder on Amazon, but other than that, when and how can I go about getting my hands on these minis? I live in the States. I hope they don't forget about us over here! This game looks brilliant. | |

| Don't be afraid, they will be certainly available in the US too I guess you can still make an order from http://brigadegames.3dcartstores.com/Frostgrave-Nickstarter_c_579.html , although without free shipping. Pity you couldn't back Frostgrave during the campaign, as it ended just 140 pounds from the free Templar stretch goal I have seen a play test couple of days ago and the game seems great fun. If you prefer warm weather, the game can be easily converted to your existing Mordheim collection. Couple of new pictures. | |

| I've pre-ordered one of these sets and it will be posted after 20 July. It looks like a good match with the mercenaries sprues and I will report on that when it arrives. It looks like a must-have set for Mordheimers.

| My set arrived yesterday. I haven't assembled any models yet but they look really good. You get 4 identical sprues but, as can be seen from Paboook's post, there are a lot of combinations available to make. They look to scale well with GW humans. I intend to build an Ostlander warband with mine but I think they could work for most human warbands, depending on the heads and weapons used. The ropes, packs and pouches are welcome bonuses.
To me, this is compulsory buying for Mordheim players and gives you a warband in a box for $NZ50 (20 pounds).

| For those still interested, Northstar Miniatures is currently running a crowdfunding project for the first expansion, Thaw of the Lich Lord, which also includes an option to get the rest of the official line.
It's a really fun game. I have been having a blast both assembling and playing. |

| And these nice chaps are part of the Nickstarter pre-order which ends on November 2. Excellent plastic set for the Possessed and other crazy cultists. They will be also available in retail, but withnout those nice bonuses from Northstar: http://nstarmagazine.com/FROSTGRAVE_LICH_LORD.htmThe quality of the plastic soldiers set is pretty good and I expect even more from this one. Check the sprues: FrontBack | |

| I really love the plastic sets that Northstar has come out with for this game. The crossover potential is very high. I am also glad to see the success of a Mordheim-like game after GW ignored us for so many years. | |
