Question about Demonic Instability Empty
PostSubject: Question about Demonic Instability   Question about Demonic Instability Icon_minitimeThu 23 Apr 2015 - 18:21

One of my group is playing as Carnival of Carnage and has pointed out a confusing set of rules for his demonic warriors.
Quote :
Daemonic Instability: Nurglings are bound to

the world by Dark Sorcery that is highly volatile

and unstable. If taken out of action a Nurgling is

banished and effectively destroyed on a D6 roll

of 1-3 (do not roll for injury). In addition, if the

warband routs then every Nurgling in the

warband must take an immediate Leadership

test. If this test is failed, then Nurgling counts as

destroyed.

Is pretty straight forward. However, one of their other rules is:
Quote :
Immune to Psychology: Nurglings are

Daemons and do not know the concept of fear.

They automatically pass any Leadership-based

test they are required to take.

Doesn't this make the last part of the first rule pointless? Since they automatically pass leadership-based tests...

Another reason to dislike that warband.  Contradictory rules are, alas, a GW staple.  Along with incomplete or incomprehensible ones.  At least they are consistent.

I am intrigued by your assumption that the author's error is writing the last part of the first rule as opposed to screwing up the rule for immune to psychology. It took effort to make either mistake and the wording of immune to psychology is completely different from the Mordheim rule book's wording...

I agree with what VK is implying. The 'Immune to Psychology' rules are incorrect and should be changed to be consistent to other uses of the rule. You still need to roll a Leadership if the warband routs.

I agree with you both that the test should be made, the phrasing was mostly because the CoC player had pretty much decided that it was the Instability rule that was wrong. I'll have to tell him next time we play that this is the case!
