I just started playing Mordheim very recently. Is it just me or is WS basically useless? Seems that you need to have a difference of three WS for there to be any effect, and then the effect is a double tax (you only need a three and they need a five). Wouldn't a more gradual change be preferable?

You only need 1 point Higer WS than your opponent and you alredy hit him on 3s not on 4s so i would say its not usless

It's not useless - but a WS advance for a hand-to-hand guy is still no way near as powerful as a BS advance for a shooter..
We've changed the parry rules to a roll-off where both models add their WS and the highest result hits/parries (attacker wins on ties).
This has made WS a decent advance and it's worth taking swords for skilled fighters (makes a bit more sense too hehe)

Oh I see. So having one higher WS means you only need a 3+, but to make your opponent need a 5+ you need to have much more WS than they do. Interesting.

A more graduale change might be, but I go for simplicity myself. That's what I love about Mordheim - the ease at which one can remember the rules.

(A little off topic, but...) God, back in my Confrontation 3.5 days, I remember playing a game of 4 minis vs. 3 minis and the bloody game took 45 minutes to play out. Sure, it's far more detailed skills/abilities/rules then Mordheim - but 45 minutes!

Anyway . . . I do like MLP's system too.
