PostSubject: The lad has got to much talent   The lad has got to much talent Icon_minitimeSat 4 Apr 2015 - 12:04

Morning all,

Last's nights scrap led to an interesting discussion regarding henchmen becoming heroes.

My orc boyz, a henchman group, had 1 exp from a previous game. In this battle (Wyrdstone hunt) they carried off three bits of wyrdstone and survived giving them +4 exp. This resulted in two skill rolls.

The first skill was the lads got talent. My question is does the new orc hero's second skill roll use the henchman skill table or the hero table?

We were unsure which way to play it. Given that the orc in question gained his skills as a henchman, being unaware he would soon become a hero, the consensus was he should use the henchman table. He took his advance roll with the remaining henchman group.

I would be interested in hearing your thoughts on the matter.

Cheers,

F.

As soon as you roll LGT, one is promoted to hero, and any further advances he gets should be rolled on the hero table.

I agree with Qboid, that's how we would have played it as well.

We play that the Boy would roll his two increases on the Hero table as well.

He will roll on the hero advancement table. Then you need to determine whether a second advancement has been gained by the new hero since the hero and henchmen experience tracks are different. In this instance it would +2 advancements but sometimes the new hero can get an extra advancement that the henchmen group does not get.

Late to the party, but I will reinforce the previous responses: if he became a hero with the first roll, he was no longer a henchman when the second roll was made.

Thanks for the many replies everyone.

In future we'll play it as you all suggest.

Sadly the orc in question has since being captured and sold into slavery.

I hate it to. He ended up blinding my opponents (Shadow elf) captain...in both eyes!

After that the elves where not in the mood to ransom him back.

They wouldn't ransom him just because he blinded their captain.  What a bunch of soreheads. I hope you helpfully pointed out that Citadel made a cool figure for their captain, so it wasn's so bad....

I hadn't seen that model before. The elves unwillingness to ransom my orc back may have had something to do with what happened when I captured their Shadow Weaver. He had the shadow cloak spell (invisibility), and we agreed if he could cast it, he could escape scot free.

He failed...

I fed him to my troll instead of paying its upkeep cost.

Nothing like friendly rivalry.
