Good morning all,

Just want to see what the take on this one is.

Flagellants have access to only three weapons, he morning star, flail and double handed weapon. Now I can see the argument for the double handed weapon or the flail (going at Initiative value / first if charging but only for the first round over permanent bonus but always going last) but what is the point of the Morning Star when it costs as much as the other two?

The only advantage is it can be used at the same time as a shield, which the Flagellant can't have. So what exactly is the point of this weapon option? Same price as the other two, offers no advantage over the other two. It isn't even like a Flagellant that got TLGT can take a shield as there is no skill that allows you to use other armour, just one for melee and the other for ranged weapons.

Just deciding to run a second warband of Witch Hunters (as a spare for players without an army too) but this just point doesn't seem to make sense to me.

You're entirely correct. There is no point to the morning star in that situation. There's a similar case going on in the carnival of chaos where the brutes (who start out with the strongman skill) can pick either flails or double-handed weapons for the same price.

Edit: Oh wait, the flails are actually 5 gold cheaper than the double-handed weapons for the brutes, so you do save some money... still a rather silly choice to make if look at it competitively, though.

Who knows what went through their minds when they wrote the stuff up. Neutral

I think its there if a LGT Flagellant loses an arm, other than that, its worse in every case.

Well the Brute one is at least still a touch cheaper.

And as for the TLGT Flagellant well that is true but an odd one all the same.

Though I do wish they gave them a now flail / dhw option as if I give them nothing they have to use fists and hit at S3 instead of S4. Still S6 means no Parries for most people Very Happy.

You could give them two but they could only use one at a time as they can only use a shield at the same time as one which the Flaggies don't get.

So either one handed TLGT Hero Flaggie or if I happen upon some while in the Exploration phase I don't have to buy a weapon when one falls and I replace him. Better than nothing I suppose.

Good point! thumbsup

This actually might be the only reasonable explanation Razz or perhaps this list was made before the change to Morning Stars was made, so that you could no longer wield two at a time.

You can buy two Morning Stars, give them to one warrior, but he can only use one at a time.

Well in that case Flails it is. Flaggies look good with Flails and I am sure I will find them useful for bashing in the faces of the enemy.
