| Hey guys, I've recently decided to restart collectin Mordheim and my first new warband is gonna be Clan Pestilens Skaven. Basically just wanting some advice on how best to kit out my fledgling warband and which types of heros/henchmen to go for. Thanks in advance guys! | |

| This is only basic warband advice, dont know all the special gizmos they can get; Get max heroes Dont take light or heavy armour give everything 2 hand weapons (even 2 clubs) or take a sword and use your standard dagger If you can take slings, max them |

| Another tip is don't spend too much on henchmen as their more likely to die.
Skaven also benefit from numbers so I assume aim for a slightly larger warband

| Hmmm... playing Clan Pestilens is not so easy like playing Clan Eshin. It would be better to have all heroes, but only if you don't want to take rat ogre. With ratogre it's better to have 5 heroes, maybe without one monk or plague sorcerer. Large Pestilens warband isn't so good like large Eshin, so it's better to have 6-9 models with weapons and skills than 13 or 17 only with free daggers,,, Of course... it's hard because of rout tests and Skaven Ld... but playing Skaven is always risky | |

| Thanks for the advice people, all seems pretty sound to me. One question to mrbrettonia: Why don't you recommend light or heavy armour? Skavenblight it sounds like you're versed in thhe warband, you a player? | |

| I played Clan Pestilens... so if you have questions, I'll try to answer it Armour is not recommended in any warband ;(... especially in Skaven warband, they are fast and it's more possible that a Skaven will charge than that he will be charged. They have chance to kill the enemy instantly so it's better to buy better weapons than armour that may be not so often in use... | |

| Armour is largely useless in Mordheim and almost certainly a waste of money early in the game. I've just started a Clan Eshin Warband and my leader (with paired Warplock Pistols) can ignore all armour except Gromril and a shield (which will, I think, end up with a 6+ Save). I've got one black Skaven with fighting claws who can ignore light armour and the other with a flail who can ignore light armour and a shield on the first turn of combat.
Basically, there are more important things to spend money on at the recruitment stage, armour can always be picked up later if you're feeling flush.

| If you're going to buy stuff to protect your warriors, start off with a helmet. It's cheaper and much more efficient.

| Only buy armour if you are going to get gromril and a shield and ninja a sea dragon cloak from someone. 1+/2+ save does begin to show its worth |

| 3 of your Heros have T4. This is more interesting than armour. But I don't like Skaven-Warbands with 15 Modells, that taking only 2 clubs or Daggers and a sling per model. This isn't fun for the other players. Take also some of the specials. The Censor is nice. | |

| There are more than one version of Pestilens rules... I think the best is the one in Town Cryer 29 | |

It was in the last issue of Town Cryer (29). You can download them from the Specialist Games site: http://specialist-games.com/assets/TC29_08_15.pdf

| How does this sound to you?
Plague Priest: Sword, plague dagger, sling, helmet
Plague Sorcerer: Unequipped
Plague Monk: Sword, dagger, sling
Plague Monk: Censer, sling
Monk Initiate: Sword, dagger, sling
Monk Initiate: Sword, dagger, sling
5x Plague Novice: Club, dagger, sling
I don't know whether to give the novices better equipment and take less of them or whether to replace a couple of them with plague rats or what. Also do you think the sorcerer should have any equipment? At the moment it's bang on 500wt...

| I don't know what the others think, but I wouldn't field the sorcerer unequipped, as especially in the beginning, spells are not that awesome that ou'll just have your sorcerer standing there and shooting bolts of lightning at everyone. So, some weapon to defend himself could be of use. | |

Thanks; that is one of Hobby Products Asterix Range Gauls. Not one of my GREATEST paint jobs, but I like him & that's EXACTLY how I look . OH, & with the daggers & slings, these two weapons are one of the few, if not the ONLY, weapons that are exempt from the WYSIWYG rule.
