| First of all, I'm not a huge fan of the fimir, it might be that I'm not old enough to have any nostalgic feelings for the freaks. But they offer a rather interesting modelling challenge, how do you make a warband of swamp monsters when there have not been any citadel models made in over two decades? And can it be done using only (mostly) plastics? I sure hope so and to prove it here is my disease ridden tribe of forgotten marsh creatures. They are still very much work in progress as you can see so any input is more than welcome. the craven shearls are the lowest of the low in the tribe. As slaves they are herded into battles and raids and have to make do with tools hey can make or take up the discarded arms of the higher castes. On the other end of the spectrum are the nobles. The wild young ones are keen to participate in raids to claim mates and glory for them selves. Tiny horns can be spotted on their brows, a sure sign of their high standing in the eye of the gods. | |

| Like yourself, the Firmir have no nostalgic effect. HOWEVER, the minis are really cool...your versions are somewhat cooler than G.W's. Your conversions have a lot of both character & potential. Keep up the SPLENDID WORK! For some inspiration you might want to check out this rather long thread: http://www.lead-adventure.de/index.php?topic=32275.0 | |

| I on the other hand, fondly remember the models, army lists and stories of the original Firmir, though I never collected any of them.
I seem to recall someone using the plastic Savage Orcs as a base for conversions as well. Perhaps a trip through the gallery... There was a company making non-GW Firmir before Forge World turned them into Ogre sized creatures.

| @Alan - thanks old sport! Thanks for linking me up with that thread! Mr. Sunday has done some amazing work. @VK - ah ye olden times I did consider the savage orcs but since I'm trying to use the stuff I have and not buy more I decided the plaguebearers would work well for some sick fimms. And this way mine are slightly unique, I guess... More to come soon | |

| Oh nice, i do love the fimir background a lot, and having werekin and his posse making them a warband choice for marienburg was just about time and a great idea. Since my days with heroquest i love those oneeyed beasts, having one left to paint. All in all fantastic! _________________ Lord Flasheart: And always remember - if you want something, take it! | @Floede - thanks buddy! Glad you like them. I'm itching to try them out on the field of battle. @Mo - Glad you like them mate! The Forge World fimirs are in my opinion too big for Mordheim but as you said plaguebearers are appropriate in size. I've done some more work on the tribe, admittedly I'm a bit slow but there is so much green stuffing to do... A sheale shows of his short tail. While the tails on the warrior caste are mighty weapons in their own right the small nubs of the slaves are not going to impress any potential mates. | |

| @Mazah - thanks mate! Glad you like them @VK - Hopefully I won't disappoint you, remeber the Draich is still very w.i.p. @Floede - thanks mate! I'll start painting as soon as they are all done, so hopefully in a week or two. I noticed that the Fimir Draich in the Storm of magic book had a rather sunken eye, so I sculpted a heavier brow (is that the word?) on the fimir. I hope you like them The draich leads the raiders A noble with flail and picnic A noble with mancatcher A shearl with axe and shield A shearl with two axes | |

| The Swamp Guys just keep getting better with each post. Your Fimir, while looking the part of the old Citadel range, are also uniquely your own creatures. GREAT & IMAGINATIVE WORK! | |

| Just wow!
I'm amazed by the craft of these conversions. You've defined the look splendidly while capturing your own style.
Really hope when you paint these that you commit to using the sallow yellowish grey skin tone described in Monstrous Arcana tome, and depicted in the Storm of Magic artwork for the Balefiend.
My mate Bob has part-painted some of the models from my Fimir collection. Sorry now that we didn't post any WiP for them now.
Regards,
Werekin
p.s. Treat yourself to a set of those big boys from the Forge World range if you can spare the dollar. Really nice kits. You can always resell off any spare bits. Could imagine you finding a way to kit-bash up a couple of larger warriors.

| Thanks Alan and Rupert! I'm really glad you like them. I'll definitely go with the odd yellow grey skin they have in recent material. At some point I hope to buy some big bully cousins for them. It will of course be easier if the rumored GW - FW merger is true. Here are some photos of recent progress. Work has been hectic, not that I'm complaining I recently got a new job I really enjoy. So not a lot of hobby time. But I might have found a new gaming club that surprised me by actually playing Mordheim and BTB What kind of tail does a Draich have? Her pelt is almost done and she has a bronze sphere to help maintain the damp mists, unfortunately the sphere smells of rotten custard and makes her skin crawl. Daemon-fimm in early stages, still need a pelt, fangs and some smoothing. Are daemon-fimms blessed warriors or more like a cursed sheale? Just wondering what kind of tail to give him. The young nobles are now done since they got some tail. Next up I might make a Fimm warrior based on the nurgle lord. Does anybody have any suggestion for the bases? | |

| I never followed the Fimir when they first came out; SO what kind of tails they have is a mystery to moi...I would imaging the whatever you create will be cool. AND your latest creations are just that... VERY COOL STUFF! The Daemon Fimm looks like something out of a bad acid trip. GREAT WORK! | |

| The tails you are using look pretty great. If you refer to 2nd edition Warhammer books then there is a page containing images of the different castes. Warriors tend to have clubbed tails, sometimes spiked. Shearls tend to have smooth tails but sometimes clubbed. Other Fimm can have barbed tails. I converted by Draich by using an old Meargh hag-sorceress models, giving here a barbed twin-bladed tail using the old Chaos spawn character Scylla! Er that daemon spawn model you converted looks totally nuts! Second the acid trip reference. Daemon-Fimm are possessed, crazed and unhinged but still retain the identity of the Fimir hosts. The modelling job here looks more like the warrior has turned into a spawn of Onogal, the Fly Lord! :-s Good luck in attracting the gaze of the gods... to recover the lost glory for your Fimir stronghold! | |

| Thanks for the feedback guys!
Good to know I'm on the right track with the tails.
Acid trip eh? Fair enough. To me the word possessed brought to mind the possessed cults big guys and the 40k possessed marines. I'll have to reconsider how to tackle these freaks. Perhaps the picture of a Fimir warp-spasming would be a good start.

There is a piece of artwork of a possessed Fimir in the WFRP book Dying of the Light.
Uploaded it on Liber Malefic, on the "Balefiend sighted" post.
