Another campaign turn passes by and another rule question came up in my gaming group.

When playing Chaos/Black/Fire Dwarfs with the Lure of Fortune objective you get the following achievement at 25 CP:

Curse of Stone wrote:
As the Sorcerer’s body is afflicted by the curse he suffers -1 to Movement. If a Chaos Engineer is with the warband, then a Mechanical Suit can be purchased at the reduced cost of 125 gc.

First I have to mention that according to RAW the mechanical suit is allowed to be taken by every model not just the sorcerer in our campaign, but only the sorcerer (or after his death the new spellcasting leader) is granted the movement boost.

Questions:
1. Does the achievement lower the price of one single suit or suits in general?
2. Do you have to search for the suit (ie making a rarity roll) or are you granted to buy the suit immediately after achieving 25CP?

As I understand the passage, the achievement grants the option to buy a single suit at reduced costs for the sorcerer apart from the normal rules (so 100gc discount, no rarity roll, one use only). Is this interpretation right in your eyes?

I read it as all are at the reduced cost and not a one time use.

'' ...then A mechanical suit can be...''

It clearly applies to a single suit.

Good pick up Goglutin. I agree that the discount would apply to a single suit and that no rarity is required. The achievement is supposed to encourage the use of the suit so a rarity role would be counter productive.

I read it in such a way as a suit of heavy armor cost 50 gc, a sword cost 10 gc, a Mechanical Suit at 125 gc.
if that makes sense.
I can see the other interpretation and it is probably right but I would have played it the other way with out thinking twice about it.

I can see that wording too.

I guess also that it doesn't matter what the original wording implies as the original intent of the warband was for the Mechanical Suit to only be available for a single warrior - the Sorceror.

If there is a house rule that all heroes/warriors in the warband can have the suit then a house rule interpretation needs to be made for this Achievement. I see that 125 gc is still a lot of money so making it possible to purchase more than one at that cost probably isn't a game breaker. I'd still lean towards making it available for a single Mechanical Suit though.

That "a mechanical suit" was the point which confused me, being not certain if it's "one mechanical suit" or "every mechanical suit". But indeed one of our gamers downloaded the current version of the setting rules and ended the discussion with a reference to "** Sorcerer only" in the equipment list.

Turned out that I had relied on an older version of the pdf, where that explanation was missing... Embarassed

Nonetheless thank you very much for speculating on the right intention of that wording.

I think that if the intent was to give the rebate to all mechanical suits it would have been writtent this way:

If a Chaos Engineer is with the warband, then, Mechanical Suits can be purchased at the reduced cost of 125 gc.

Its a matter of wording...
