Which rule set do you use?

Ive seen a few different Mordheim rulebooks floating around out there and while most have the same core rules, there are some big differences I've come across and wanted to see what set of rules people were using.

I have been using the rule book from the Specialist games website (the 3 different pdf's), the master equipment list from Mordheimer.com, and the 'Swords of the Empire' list for hired swords.

However a friend recently found some 300+ page tome flatly called the 'Updated Rulebook' out there on the interwebz. It has a very long equipment list (some of which seems too god-awful powerful...) and a bunch of alternate warband builds (again, some seem unbalanced and too powerful).
Does anyone use this, and is it the most up to date/complete set of rules?

I have never heard of that copy of the rule book but the copies you use are what I use and the 3 part PDF is the most up to date rule book (offical) out there.
Well for Hired Swords I use "Hired Sword Compilation v1.3" not sure where I got it from.

As for "other" warbands outside the Core rule book, Empire in Flames, and Annual 2002 I consault my group to see if they are ok with them.
For us it works as we stick to what we find that have good reputations as not being Over Powered and also don't look to be from our inspection. BtB we have yet to use any of those warbands but they seam to fit into that allong with most of the GW published warbands and a few found here (Styrofoam Kings Chapel Guard for example).

My Group uses the Main Book from Specialist Games (I have the original PDF before it was broken down into 3 parts), Annual 2002, Empire in Flames, and all the Town Cryers. I have seen that LARGE PDF Book you’re asking about and I was informed by others, that it would be a nice copulation, if it wasn’t full of House Rules. So I avoided it like the plague. I wasn’t going to go through it, line by line, and make the corrections back to official rules.

We use the three standard rule book (the three pdfs that you mentioned) as well as Empire in Flames and Annual 2002. We also use other material that has a good reputation like Border Town Burning.

I have avoided that big compilation that you mentioned because of the house rules which are not clearly marked as house rules.

Hey Shadowphx, I've been looking for town cryers online, but havent been able to locate any. I think someone had posted links in the forum years ago, but they're all broken now. Can they be found anywhere online?

There is a drop box account out there with most all of the information you will ever need including town cryers. PM me your e-mail and I can get you the invite to said account.

I wonder if there is more than one version of the monster. (The link is always different.) Da Bank was hawking it on the Yahoo Group last year. I wish they were less eager to share or more circumspect about including literally everything.

Every now and then someone will ask a question based on one of those things. The questions indicate that the house rules included are in need of a playtest or two. I don't recommend the rules because of the hidden wack stuff.

I have included one skaven hired sword from a version of a 300+ page Mordheim document in the current campaign, but so far no one has used it...

Most definitly agree about the wack stuff, VK. Particularly the 'Vial of Pestilens' item reeks of cheese IMO.

@Pervavita - thanks for the offer, but I actually found a link to the TC's in another post on here. I just managed to grab all 29!

Ha! I haven't checked their rules for it but the Vial was added to the Mordheim world by GW employees as part of the Lustrian supplement.

Edit: our campaigns only allow it in Lustrian setting. You should find the original rules in TC #10-15, in the Cities of Gold sections.
