I'm working on a coliseum for my modular "romanish" board

(you can see the prior pieces of my board here https://boringmordheimforum.forumieren.com/t6538-modular-games-boards-buildings)

the coliseum is a full 12" x 24" x 9" high (tower)

more after it gets some paint...

Is that done with a woodburning tool? Design looks great, I look forward to seeing it painted!

VERY NICE! I particularly like the lower/base section of the Beasty. This will be an IMPRESSIVE piece when completed...it's pretty impressive right now. TERRIFIC WORK! thumbsup
Are the two wooden squares in the arena section meant to be elevators as in the actual Coliseum? What a Face

theomar
thx
I long time ago I tried a woodburner but tips were too delicate for plywood/pine and broke
so I use a solder iron from same company weller SP23L
this was the biggest amount of wood burning for bricks and planks on one of my pieces ever
tedious...but I'm satisfied with the WIP to date
all my pieces are wood and wood glue and burning
wood filler and nails (for pinning) as necessary

bolbotos
thx

thx
yes the squares are as you say and are removable
(but haven't figured out how I will make elevators yet or if I just do stairs or ramps or nothing)
there also will be two stairways to below
1 from tower ground floor
2 from viewing stand ground floor
these are already cut out of the base but not shown in the pics above
both the tower and viewing stand levels are removable for access too
I'll take pics of all later (this post is just a teaser)

the board (not coliseum) was posted previously
the reason the center road/arch section is removable is to accommodate this piece and other potential 2-block pieces

I'll try and post pics of other boards/progress as time permits

touching up brickwork and maybe starting painting today...

Woot! Plywood! You sir are a madman, although the truly mad build in MDF. (With MDF you don't need a woodburner to etch your bricks, although you always need a respirator). Surprised

Excellent work!

I wanted to make a coliseum one day and what you did gave me a bunch of ideas, although the wood burning seems rather complex and needing some materials. Great job
