| Hey all, I just read that the prices of GW metal miniatures are going up soon, as the price of tin, petrol and whatnot did increase drastically in the nearer past. The full announcement can be found in White Dwarf Online, but I'm not able to access the page at the moment, so there's no link from me. Anyways, better start buying what you always wanted to buy before it's too late | |

| They are "adjusting" the prices AGAIN? (suuuuure, blame the "high petrol prices", what a lame excuse.). God, am I glad that I don't like wargames and hate miniatures... no wait... _________________ | |

Does it say how much an "old" €10 blister is going to cost after the price boo... "adjustment"? _________________

| Nope, it simply says that the price of tin has doubled and that GW is no longer able to absorb the increased production price.
Oh, and in the beginning, it says something in the lines of "everything is getting more expensive, so are we..." Last time I read this it was said by my good old friend Mr. Mehdorn of DB...
However, they say they'll expand their plastic range even more (those miniatures are not (yet) affected). I wonder why they didn't do it already, the O&G and Empire and High Elves did prove that it is possible to have highly detailed plastic miniatures, so I wonder why they did metal Dark Elves and metal Vampires etc...

| If GW ran a Gas Station, they'd augment their income by stealing their customers' cars. They have the same entrepeneurial instincts as Jesse James; only he used a gun. Of course, they could go back to using a bit of lead. It's easier to work with from a modeler's viewpoint, much less expensive, easier on their molds, & it's THE main reason that "historical" minis are SO MUCH CHEAPER than their fantasy brethren.

| Well, yeah, the tin prices are going up drastically (ban china and they will go down again! ) plastics are cheaper, but a lot of gamers still prefer the metal ones (heavy equals good! ) other than that, over the last couple of years, GW has expanded their range a lot, and we've seen a lot of updates too, the costs of designing these molds are high, VERY if not EXTREMELY high, so lets not forget that! then, Detail goes up a lot too, and in big plastic regiment boxes with a lot of detail to the miniatures, you won't hear me complaining about 30 euro's a box (even though its rediculous!) try making warbands out of Rackham miniatures.... 1 for... 12 euros! yeuj! then again, with GWs prices going up, that becomes more and more appealing! oh wait, my first 2 are already purely rackham! haha Just be glad you play mordheim, and not Apocalypse scale 4TK! saves you a lot! hehe | |

- PRICING UPDATE
As everyone knows costs are going up all over the world, and just like everyone else we are seeing increases in the price of oil, metal, printed materials and transport. Up until now we've absorbed these increases, but the recent and dramatic doubling in the price of tin is simply something we are unable to ignore and therefore some of our prices will be going up too.
As from 29th September 2008 we will therefore be increasing the price of all metal models as well as a selection of other items including most of our books and some accessories including paint.
The good news is that we do not intend to raise the price of our plastic kits at this time which means Games Workshop's plastic range remains excellent value for money for all hobbyists. This has also encouraged us to accelerate our plans for expanding our plastic kit range even more quickly so keep a look out for new projects in the future.

| Much as I HATE defending GW, in all honesty [I also HATE being forced into the honesty thing merely from a sense of fairness ], after searching for some minis for the Vampire commission I'm working on, my findings are that the prices of MOST Ciatdel minis are relatively competitive. With the exception of SOME of their "Special Characters" and the "Collector Range", they are NOT even at the high end of the price range. As the "leading" manufacturer of minis their prices are the guide line for the rest of the mini makers. Ergo, because GW can command a fairly high price for their stuff, the smaller folk can charge a similar amount, which enables them to survive & gives us ALL THOSE WONDERFUL NON-GW MINIS to paint. Now, I think I'll go off & be not-so-quietly sick. | |
