Kickstarter: Dreadball by Mantic Games

A sci-fi board game by the great guys at Mantic Games.

I jumped right in at Striker level as Mantic has mentioned this to be the best level. Due to future addons.

Sort of BLOOD BOWL IN SPACE!...or not. The minis look cool, which, as an opponentless Guy, is a major factor.

its been compared to a gamed called Speed ball 2. And it plays very differentially to BB.

it is more in line with Ice Hockey then Grid Iron.

some main points:
When a Strike is score [Goal,touch down etc] you do not reset the ball is launched from the centre line. So no resetting of teams doing the kick off etc. So in a tactical way it is not always good to send all of your team up to score or your going to be having to chase down to your goal to prevent your opponent scoring.

Yes the races are similar with Corporation [HUMANS}, Marauders [ORX], Forge Fathers [DWARFS] and Veer-myn [SKAVEN/RATMEN]

but we are hoping that the next four teams will be different from the likes of BB, Elf Ball, Nuthin but net etc etc and offer something new to players.

The game is fast pace with heaps of tactics and game play. With additional cards that add in events, hazards, and some rewards the game will never be the same from one to the next.

Sounds good. I've had my eye on the Marauders & Veer-myn as possibilities for Death Squad...they're both really interesting ranges of minis. Is Speed Ball a P.P. game?

P P game? you meaning Privateer Press game? if so then no it was a computer game that was out many years ago.
the Privateer Press game would be GRIND and used Jacks to roll a large ball on to a goal tile.

sort of worked but hasn't been up there in comparison to other games.

GRIND was what I was thinking of. Thanks for the clarification...I've never gotten into computer games of any type other than watching my sons play WoW.

I thought it was what your talking about.

I love the look of this game I have played BB for a number of years and I am getting a bit over it and want something new and fresh and one that is SUPPORTED by the designers and developers of the game. Tournament support, listening to fans comments about the game, adding value to it and not deleting it or changing how the games work etc etc.

The Striker level is the place to be we are only needing $1k to get the latest goal so come on peeps get your $$$ and join in on DREADBALL!!!!

It looks really fun, however I'm a bit kickstarter hungover at the moment and can't justify spending more money on minis for a while

yeah I know alot of people who got KS overdose with Sedition wars, Reaper Bones, Zombicide, Kings of War etc etc etc.

But with 31 days to go the talk is the figure count is going to go big for those with Striker level. time will tell

I really Like the Orx and the MvP concept drawing looks great as well.
I don't mind the Corporation team [TronTek 29'ers]
And the Forge Fathers are growing on me its the Veer-myn that I am not fussed on.

We are almost to the $100k goal only need $1,100 to get there and we gain the Wildcard a female character.

Will update as I get more info.

$110,000 – Expand your teams!
You get four teams of 10 players in Striker! and, with the addition of Wildcard, 5 MVPS - but we want to give you more!

If we pass through this stretch goal, we will include an additional four players into Striker! – two Corporation and two Marauders!

But that's not all...

$125,000 – John Doe, MVP
If we pass through this stretch goal, we will produce John Doe – an alien MVP that can play for all of the teams (except the Marauders, no one knows why he refuses to play for them):



John Doe - Of course that’s not his real name. His real name takes three minutes to say and major surgery to pronounce. Unlike some of his more mysterious fellow MVPs, John Doe is happy to discuss his history and origins; it’s just that few people can understand.

Not surprisingly, his armour is custom made and cannot enclose him as neatly as it would a more conventionally shaped player. Digby has allowed him some leeway with the uniform rules on account of his unusual physique – a ruling which created a storm of protest and cries of favouritism from the Coaches, but which the fans were very happy about. Incidentally, this was the ruling that opened the door for many of the other alien players you now see in the leagues, as prior to this they were banned not for their alien nature per se, but because they couldn’t fit neatly into DreadBall armour.

Help us produce John Doe and we will include him into Jack and Striker! (and don’t forget you’ll get multiples of the rewards in Cheerleader, Showboater and League Sponsor!)
