| Hey all, I'm not going into detail about my campaign plans here. This space is saved for the creation of 12 new Dramatis Personae characters. SO without further ado, onto the first character. Kiruk Dag, the "White Dwarf". Hopefully i'll have some time to start painting him this week. And then the remaining 11 after that. | |

| From the photo on the box cover, that has the potential of painting up into a VERY COOL mini. The casting looks somewhat less promising...there certainly is a fair amount of flash, sprue, & breathing threads to remove. Armor Cast may have me spoiled, but when I order resin pieces from them, all that extraneous material has been removed prior to packaging. That aside, have FUN with the painting. | |

| Anybody else want to model a mouse wearing a hat on top of the parrot's hat? Maybe even an insect wearing a hat on the houses hat?... | |

| Hmm a never ending pile of animals in hats...I like it @deafnala: I think that this was one of the first finecast models that GW created so I'm assuming they put in four dozen breathing holes in the hopes that the model wouldn't bubble. It is gonna take a lot of cleaning up but I do like the fact that it's all one piece. | |

| On closer inspection two things bother me...
1: His feet seem really big...like REALLY big, even for a GW dwarf model 0.o
2: Despite clearly being a fantasy model, they designed him for a round monster base?...that's just strange to me -shrug-
otherwise it looks like it should be okay after a bit of cleaning.

| The "White Dwarf" pieces are usually swag given at conventions and the like, so it's meant to be a set-piece or display model. Besides, most of us veteran modellers have PLENTY of square bases lying around. | |

Oh yeah ofc, switching most models from a round base to a square base is no problem normally, but since this comes with a rather nice diorama base I just found it a bit strange that they went against the curve with it -shrug-

| I have this model and I really like it. There was a lot of flash to take care of and the pistol was supposed to be a toy one, so I had clean that stuff off.
That aside, it is a very nice miniature. I'm not even too bothered with the size of the boots.
i've got this guy lined up with the dwarf pirates from Black Scorpion Miniatures and they look great together as a little warband.
Joao
P.S. a little GW rant now: why on Earth did they go through the trouble of making the pirate dwarf and decorating the box with pirate ships if they didn't do anything else pirates-wise?!

| I beg to differ, they have a very extensive range of roughly 3 models Seen here: http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/armySubUnitCats.jsp?catId=cat500026a&rootCatGameStyle=It does seem a bit strange but it is definitely designed as a display model. The feet do look bigger in the photos but I think once it's painted the boots will be alright. Also, I'm doing all my Mordheim figures on round bases (because it's a skirmish game) so I don't mind so much. The fact that it's a monster base is a little irritating but i'll find a way around that hopefully. If not then I'll drop him as a Dramatis personae and just have him for display. | |

| I woulden't worry about bases too much, mordheim was only based on square bases to get people who play fastasy interested (e.g. crossover between Warhammer Fantasy and Mordheim purposes). | |

| I agree with maxxev on the base. Nothing about base size or shape is mentioned, as far as I know, in The Rules. Most Folks just use the bases supplied with the minis; it has the advantage of allowing you to use the mini(s) in Fantasy Battle...multipurposing is a fine idea considering the cost of the minis. | |

| I figured I'd put my Mordheim models on round bases because chances are that I won't use them in WHFB or any large scale game like that.
I've begun cleaning the model up but I have a question.
It's the first time that I've used finecast, does anyone have any tips or errors that can be avoided?

| Resin castings almost always have a parting compound covering. You have to remove this to paint the mini, Just soak it in a mild dish detergent, do a scrub with a toothbrush, rinse & dry, & you're all set to paint. | |

| SO finally got to work on painting this lovely model. As a side note, he will not be used as an active Dramatis Personae but rather warbands can hire him between games to aid with exploration and finding rare items. This is because the base is a little large to use effectively in games and the model itself isn't particularly dynamic... Anyhoo...on with the pictures. Undercoated Flesh tones Any feedback is welcome. | |

| Good idea! I like the fact that you chose an unconventional background story for him rather than the obvious one (him being a captain of his warband, or something). Mind you, he is still holding a toy gun. But maybe even that is good. He might be mad or deluded and not really aware that he is precisely holding a toy gun! At this stage it's too early to give you feedback on the painting. As for painting dwarfs, there are several threads in this forum worth checking out. Like this one, for example: https://boringmordheimforum.forumieren.com/t1097p400-gallery-by-qcJoao | |

| Its NOT a toy gun! Dwarf ingenuity has devised a temporary plug to keep his powder dry during a squall! | |

| Oops! Sorry for my lack of experience on these matters. I got the impression it was a toy gun, as stated on one of the White Dwarf magazines, when the miniature came out. I'm always learning new things! Joao | |

| I've had some difficulty with the coat. "Open spaces" are not my fortay and blending makes my brain hurt. Hopefully I'll have some new photos up soon. As for the gun, I like the idea that it's a toy I've just got to write something into the characters backstory. The idea that he's insane is good...Anyone got anything else to offer? | |
