Any budding herbalists out there?

Rather than posting wild suggestions here, if anyone is interested in doing some work towards a 2D6 chart for Herbs & Potions can you please drop me a PM with your email address.

There will countless precedents from across the years. Initially I have scrawled a page of notes concerning funky Warhammer herbs but I haven't got the foggiest how these can (or can't) be used in games of Mordheim! There isn't much of anything for me to 'translate' from the RPG game in terms of rules.

I expect that curatives supplied by witches can be incorporated into the table along the way.

D6 Result
1 Debilitating: The potion is simply too potent for the Hero and weakens them. They receive -1 to Toughness for the whole of the next battle until they can roll a 6 on a D6 in the recovery phase to shrug off the ill effects.
2-3 Strength: The Hero is infused with strength as he quaffs the potion. He receives a +1 Strength bonus until he rolls a 1 on a D6 in the recovery phase.
4-5 Resilience: An inner resilience passes through the Hero. He receives a +1 bonus to Toughness until he rolls a 1 on a D6 in the recovery phase.
6 Fortitude: The Hero's constitution is increased and he feels ready to take anyone on. He gains an extra wound for the whole battle. However, once lost the wound cannot be restored.

Contributors will receive full credit for their input.

If you can 'test' the herbs & potions on warrriors (& animals!?) in your games then that would be even better of course. Wink

Cheers,

Werekin

I won't post any ideas of my own (because I don't have any) but rather I will point to existing ideas (this may be some scary insight into my volume of obscure Mordheim information). Most of these items probably haven't had much play testing but they may provide some idears for effects.

The Bazaar of the Bizarre at the Mordheimer Information Centre has a brain dump of a lot of potions and elixirs.

I was going to refer you to the Devil's Den Challenge #4 for drugs and poisons (and I will) but it appears to be incomplete as the rules for the winning item (Ulric's Crown) are missing which is sad because the rules were quite reasonable. Sad (Eliazar, do you have the full forum thread for DD#4 but accidentally didn't post all of it on the SG forum?? Please??)

There is a drugs page on Archive Pestilen. Also, the Old Battlefield scenario from the Chaos Wastes setting on Archive Pestilen contains some potions with some of the same names but different effects (go figure).

The Alchemist hired sword from Mousillon can make potions from recipes. Likewise, a different Alchemist hired sword from Killer Shrike can make some potions.

I haven't played with drugs much in game, but wouldn't it be a fun addition to your die result to include a bad trip?
effects such as frightening the model, or making him hallucinate? or over encourage him to do stupid stuff (leap from buildings convinced he can fly etcetera Smile or at least stimulate this type of behaviour (just to get more jumps in the game Smile)

Thanks for the illicit tip-off Rational. It is my intention to explore and induct some of the best obscure references. Sir, yes sir!

With more of the focus being on the herbs themselves, then two or three sub-charts like the Potions (offered by witches) Chart may be required to incorporate all of the popular tinctures and elixirs. scratch

There will be an opportunity for one of your Heroes to go 'tripping' at one of the drug dens such as the Golden Lotus Dreaming House on Riddra Isle in the post battle visit options Ezekiel. I hear it's a popular resort for witch hunters! Not surprising with all the crap encountered in their line of work.

I will also cross-reference the drugs because those will be factored in elsewhere. Herbalists are licensed to supply drugs 'over the counter' to Heroes. Wink
