G'Day all,
I had a crack at scenery making and this is my first foam core building.
I'm mostly happy, but could probably use a few architecture lessons and I don't like the way my exposed bricks turned out.
I plan to distress the building significantly more. Including more water damage, fire damage and dirt.
Where is a good place to look for templates?

VERY NICE WORK! both the builfing & the minis look TERRIFIC. thumbsup
As is the brickwork looks okay, the thing that makes it appear slightly off is that its sticking beyond the stucco when it should be under the. stucco. If you remove the paper from the foam board you can get the bricks too look like the covering stucco has cracked off. Like so:

Hi Ed - the building looks just great: I agree with DeafNala about the bricks though! I build my scenery on a base of 3mm MDF board, It gives the opportunity to put in the ground floor, rubble and paving as well as providing a bit more stability to the whole construct.

What sort of templates are you after? I assume you mean for buildings. I use books on architecture and also the web. Try looking up timber frame buildings on Wikipedia, it will lead you to other interesting sites. The best thing is to study examples and just let your creativity go from there. BTW love the figures, especially the Ogre.

Thanks for the feedback.
DeafNala, good advice with the bricks and that is an awesome little terrain feature.
The Ferret, point taken about the base. I just dont have a board so I'm gonna hold off on basing terrain until I know what kind of board I'll play on. I'm a real amateur.
I played a bit in highschool and recently started modelling again but honestly have not had a chance to play a game yet since 2005!

I like the building, and i dont think the bricks are a problems being outies rather than innies Laughing

You said about weathering, and i agree with more being added, but to the bricks/tiles and maybe floorboards, i would leave the walls as they are.

Must say as well, your miniature painting is cool. All the models in your pictures are really nicely done.
